monothea | how itâs made
(tw: grinding maybe? not sure how to tag, ask nik if youâre concerned :0 )
And so the guerrilla gardener stood in the center for all to see, left pale and panting after his emotional tirade. He had nothing left to say. He waited⊠He waited for death, his demise, his doo-
FWOOSH!
Hanako dropped through the floor, and before anyone, himself included, could register what happened. A neat little screen replaced the him so the class could see his fatal outcome.
Hanako landed on what seemed to be a conveyor belt already in motion. He could only see so far. Even right in front of him, his hands were barely visible. The room was too dark. The only source of light came from the distance. Where it came from, well, needed no introduction. Huffing and puffing in the not so distant distance was what looked to be a giant furnace. Itâs metal maw open and flaming, swallowing all kinds of bone and carcasses whole. Hanako would to be no different, another morsel to be devoured in ash and smoke, and yet, he found the gall to run.
His body, though sore from the fall, pumped with adrenaline. Like hell was he going to end up at in that⊠that⊠thing! The belt barely moved, speeding in a malfunctioning lurch. Surely he could outrun it towards the end, and go wherever the it went, as long as it wasnât the furnace. There had to be an exit, right?
He went to his feet for a full sprint into the opposite direction, blood pounding in his ears, He dodged the corpses that literally fell from the ceiling. Being pelted with the occasional femur or forearm meant nothing if that meant escaping. But, once he began to distance himself from the infernal machine, the belt changed direction. Hanako felt himself being pulled in the exact direction he currently tried to escape with.Â
The conveyorâs speed kicked into high gear, knocking the gardner off his feet and hurling to whatever hidden on itâs end. The loud sputter of grinding gears grew louder. And before he could even realize what had him, or let alone scream about it, the other machine had its hold.
The machine took no delay in grinding Hanako into a meaty pulp. And with a cartoonish jump and rattle it, spat out a clumsy sack with boyâs face, a look of grave surprise, printed on the label: WHORESONâS PLIGHT: BLOOD AND BONE MULCH.
Hanako Kamikawa, Super High School Level Guerilla Gardener, has been executed.
thank you émi for the art!!

She nods vaguely a few times, looking off to the side.
âHowâd you learn so much about our beautiful Mother Earth?â
Hanako gave her a look, but thankfully half of it was hidden.
âOkay, so... check this shit out. Thereâs huge ass techno-movement going. This shit stores large amounts oâ info into portable, physical manifestations. Itâs fuckinâ wild how I got my hands on âem... but theyâre called....â
âBooks.â

Ah. It seems that Hana has been hit with a taste of her own medicine. A giant infodump, unexpected and with way more information than she needs, given both too clinically and too fast for any of the information to actually be understood and retained. If Hana was, perhaps, a little more self-aware, sheâd leave this guy alone or at least change the subject, or perhaps ignore his wordiness. As it stands, though, Hanaâs not self-aware in the slightest⊠and she is feeling slightly insulted and very confusedâŠ. which, as any chemist can tell youâŠ. is a very dangerous combination.
âWow, assholeâŠ. right now Iâm fucking feeling like both because of that shitty explanation. I respect the shit out of you knowing so much about the crucial goddamn science of botany, and itâs goddamn totally fucking important to know, love, and understand our beautiful goddamn Mother Earth, and like, I really admire that youâre so down with Mother Nature, and like I said, Wow, I respect the shit out of it⊠but like⊠Wow. You didnât have to imply I was dumbâŠ.. Iâll have you know Iâm a goddamn genius engineer with fucking memory problems.â
âI asked you a simple question that I really couldâve used your expertise on âcuz I goddamn wanted to learn. But⊠Wow. You like.. totally missed an opportunity and shit to really help someone else understand what youâre passionate aboutâŠ.â She shrugs, looking down.
âAnyway, whatâs that one.â
She points to another plant as if the subject of her own rant is totally opened and closed and done with, sheâs settled the argument, and now sheâs ready to learn about plants.
â...fine. Fucking touchĂ©. Game point or whatever, yeah.... P-purple Hyacinth.â
Okay, totally bad impression for someone actually interested in his talent. He blew an air of frustration, idly exposing his the remainder face for just a moment. He looked down at this plant, taking longer than before as he translated his speech into laymanâs term.Â
âOkay... just... Gimme another chance? This... uh... This is Rhododendron japonicum, which is fancy for the âJapanese Azaleaâ. This one called âKirinâ or âCoral Bellâ Azaleas. Some might say otherise, but fuck them. Still a Rhododendron... just, uh, a specific type. Theyâre smaller, but their makeup are practically the same... You follow?â he paused the clumsy mumbling to pull off a bloom. "Was that too much, too little? Tryinâ not to overload you or anything.â
Prologue | Hot and Holey | Hanako + Haruna
theshslweathergirl:
After she had left the place where Peri had gathered the students, Haruna had walked towards the way to the Monobear Stand.
What not a better way to start an investigation by figuring out what insanity she had been given. Her hands had held tight to the coins and she walked towards the area along with some other students. With a sigh, she had quickly moved to the area. When she had reached her destination, she had paused for a single moment.
WhatâŠ
IsâŠ
Going on!?
Insanity, that been one way the meteorologist described the scene in front of her. The people around her had so many strange objects and devices with them, and she had no clue where at all the items had come from. Haruna had no idea at all whether her peers kept these belongings with them ever since they had reached Hopeâs Peak, or if Peri had done something utterly crazy. Â However, after a minute had passed, the blue girl straightened herself and had taken a deep breath and sighed. No need to get flustered when knowledge could be gained by the many people in front of her.
She had slowly started to walk again, and this time she had reached all the way to the capsule machine. A student in front of her had just received a musical device from the machine. The meteorologist would had been lying if she out-right said that seeing that had not grabbed her interest and outright most curiosity. However, when she had heard the green haired boy spoken an amount of vulgar language, she been more interested in that than anything.
Even though she had wanted to lecture the boy right then and there, she had let it go. Instead when he had moved slightly away from the machine, Haruna had silently gone and used the capsule machine herself, and had used only one coin to see the magic happen right in front of her own eyes. After the few beeping and flashing, the meteorologist had received her first item.
116: Set of Empty Notebooks
A set of three empty notebooks, perfect for the person with short-term memory loss in your life! ⊠Canât remember who it is? Hmm. Itâs probably you, then. (Hiroshi Kagami, DA2B)
NotebooksâŠ. Well that was helpful. She had her own, but in the end, having spares were not such a terrible thing, were they?
She had inserted another coin, this time hoping to receive another helpful item.
That however, did not happen as the blue girl had frowned at the next item she had received.
111: Professional Studio Mic
This is one hell of a nice microphone - obviously, itâs one that professionals in the studios use! (Yamato Hasegawa, DA2B)
A microphone, yes, she knew exactly what it was from past experience. The girl herself had owned one a long time ago, and had used it for practice with her own career and talent, but that been in the past. She was in the present now, and had no absolute use for a mic.
She had looked behind her to see the green haired boy still there, happily smiling at his own received prizes. Would it be worth to start a conversation? Haruna thought on the question.
Most likely⊠it would not even be worth a minute to speak, but, in such a situation, she had let go of her own ideals, and had spoken to the boy.
âYou could tone down your own vulgarity⊠there are more ways than one to express contempt at receiving the golden prize of the day.â
Perhaps, that was not the best topic sentence to go on, but she had to at least address the matter. Although, if the girl had thought on the idea, the chances of this boy changing could be the same as Hanaâs chances of changing her own speech language. The meteorologist had lifted the mic in her hand towards the green boy, showing him the item right before she had spoken once more.
âIf you do not mind me going onto another subject, and not your rude speech patterns, I would like to ask if you would want this microphone, or perhaps want to trade it with me for another item? I have no absolute use for this⊠and keeping it seems to only be a waste of space if I can see no real value in using it.â
She had to start somewhere.
...oh? oh... Okay. Hanako remained completely sillent as the the half-pint (though only an inch shorter) prattle on. For a moment, he wondered who she was talking to. Surely she wasnât scolding him, a random-ass stranger. He could handle annoying peers, at least they were being friendly, but this piece of work quite frankly pissed him off. If she wasnât a girl, heâd handle this completely different. Instead, he let her finish before opening his vulgar mouth.Â
âOh, no no no, please. Letâs go back to my fucking vulgarity. Goddamn, you gotta be shitting me, like, for fucking real? Youâre gonna deadass come for me after sharing the same air for, like, two seconds? What the actual hell, chick. There wasnât even a please in that shit. None. Zero. You could be a little nicer, but until then I wonât be toninâ down a damn thing.â
When it came to the trade, he stretched his lips back for a dangerous smile, one PERI would not enjoy. He looked at his two items then back at hers.Â
âReally? Well, I was thinking the same thing. Iâm thinkinâ you donât mean thâ ramen. Iâve been breathing on it. And...â he gestured to the ocarina âI donât know how to play this shit. You can have it... but you gotta answer somethinâ for me?â
He raised it above his head and have it a teasing little wiggle.Â
âHowâs the weather down there?â

[SWEARING CW]
Hana reasons to herself itâs right about time to view what exactly is in that greenhouse. While Peri SAYS thereâs no electricity, that gondolaâwhich Hana has discovered is NOT the Italian watercraft, but instead a skyliftâis obviously a testament to the contrary. Surely, thereâs something in the greenhouse that also proves the theory that thereâs electricity around here that Peri is just hiding from them all. The greenhouse is a perfect place to hide a generator in a toolshed⊠Or at the very least some kind of sprinkler system to water the plants.
If not, at least Hana reasons she may be able to assess the potential potency of sun power around here, in the case that she wants to capture solar power. Failing that⊠At least sheâll be able to look at some nice plants sheâs probably never seen before.
Walking inside, Hana is immediately thrown by how hot it is. The gardens in her familyâs estate had all been outdoors, meticulously kept up by her staff. Hana nods to herself, clicking her hand in her pocket and mumbling to herself about âheatâ before walking deeper inside.
Most of the plants are unfamiliar to her. She doesnât specialize in botany, after all, and looking around⊠She has no idea what to look for exactly to categorize the plants anyway.
âŠBig leaves? Small leaves? Round leaves? Bumpy leaves? Leaves with pointed ridges? They all just look like⊠Leaves. It smells nice at least. Fresh and warm like the summer sun. She likes warm.
As she continues to walk through the place, puzzled, she happens upon Hanako. Unfortunately her research into her classmates before coming to the Academy lacked pictures for the most part⊠But this boy seems to be wearing a flower crown. Surely, he knows something about flowers
âUm. Hey. Fuck. Dude.â She mumbles, her tone as usually disaffected and rather quiet, as if sheâs not quite awake and not quite asleep, sounding much like someone telling you to go back to bed during the middle of a slumber party, âDo you know what kind of plant this is?â
One day Hanako would be able to traverse Praetis in peace. One day he could exist in quiet that lasted longer than ten minutes. Today wasnât that day. And with twenty or so students crawling around, they were bound to run into one another eventually. He didnât hear the door, but he heard footsteps. He rearmed himself with his usual unwelcoming aura. PERI mentioned making friends... but honestly fuck that.Â
The classmate approached them with a voice that wasnât as grating as he expected. Everyone heâd met so far were painfully loud. It was a decent change of pace. Still, she was taller than he which never bode well.Â
Her question, unfortunately, warranted a glare.Â
He redirected his gaze from her to the unidentified plant before responding dryly. âHosta. The tardiana group. âHalyconâ variation...â he murmured in thought. With a furrow of his unseen brow, he resumed speaking.
âHosta is a genus of about 70 species of shade-loving, rhizomatous, clump-forming, herbaceous perennials which are native to open woodlands, woodland margins and glades in Japan, Korea, China and eastern Russia. Thayâre primarily grown for their ornamental foliage. Stalked, conspicuously-veined, often dense, basal leaves in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and textures rise up from a central rhizomatous crown to form a rounded to spreading mound of foliage. Bell or funnel-shaped flowers in terminal, mostly one-sided racemes bloom in late spring or summer atop vertical, unbranched, usually leafless but frequently bracted scapes which rise upward from the crown or rootstock to a point often well above the foliage mound.Tardiana Group is applied to a group of hybrids resulting from a cross between H. tardiflora and H. sieboldiana var. elegans. Plants are usually under 18" tall and have blue-green leaves.â
He paused to gesture at the plant.
â'Halcyon' is one of the best and most popular of the blue hosta cultivars. An erect plant to 14" tall featuring a mound of flat, spear-shaped, heavily-textured, blue-green leaves and racemes of bell-shaped, pale lilac-blue flowers on 26" scapes. This cultivar retains blue leaf color longer than most other blue hostas. A slower growing hosta, one that takes several years to develop mature shape, is a dependable and versatile perennial requiring little care. Grown primarily for its beautiful foliage which provides color, contrast and texture to the landscape, dense foliage crowds out most garden weeds. Attracts hummingbirds. Eaten by deer. Symbol of Devotion.â
Hanako then looked back at the girl.Â
âEverybody knows that. Now are you just curious, dumb, or both?â
Prologue | Hot and Holey | Hanako + Haruna
Honestly, Hanako had been avoiding this very spot on the map ever since he woke there. Some may say he couldnât⊠bear it. (And if he heard them, theyâd need the goddamn apothecary across the street.) His entire walk to the Monobear Stand had been mounting dread and trepidation. Despite his resting bitch face, heâd been a cage of wreaked nerves, frantically fraying by the second. He neared the spot and he began to mutter with both fists clenched and ready to fire (and the hint of a trembling lip).
âGoddamn bitch-ass pain in the ass bears. I-i swear to God I-i'm gonna-â
He was âgonnaâ nothing.
The space, to his relief, was 100% bear free, bear iconography and symbols included. He looked around before releasing a shaky sigh of relief. Praetis would never hurt him. Quickly, the gardener recollected his persona then slide the coins into the machine.
242: Homemade Ramen The capsule opens up to a piping hot, extra large sized bowl of ramen! For whatever reason, as you stare down at that beautiful, beautiful steaming bowl of meat and noodles you start feeling⊠warm. Was this reminding you of home? Long-forgotten childhood memories? Or, wait, maybe not â the bowl is just really hot! You should put that down before it burns you! (Mayumi Hanezuka, DA4U)
Hanako juggled the bowl hand to hand before nesting it into the sleeve of his parka. It was still hot as hell, but it was much more manageable with a fabric guard. And having skipped breakfast to see this place, it felt like a reward for potentially facing his fear. He clumsily inserted another coin.
200: Ocarina A 10-hole ocarina with a purple and white floral pattern trailing across its ceramic surface. Itâs pretty and all, but who even plays the ocarina anymore? Really? (Rune Andersen, DA3E)
An audible gasp slipped from his lips before Hanako could catch it.
âHoly shit! This is fucking sweeet!â the boy exclaimed softly.
He marveled at the craftsmanship of the item, specifically the floral patterns. He wanted to play it, or at the very least make a noise, but with the bowl of ramen still balanced in the his arm, he decided to take care of it first.

Alright! Here yâall go! If youâre interested in a thread, hmu on skype at auroras.fall ! ! !
i just thought about hinatea AND MYSELF VERY SAD WTF
Here comes the sun || Cody Swanson || Prologue reaction || Closed for Ailani or Hanako
An immediate side effect of waking up in a strange place to a rather pleasant young woman telling you all about your surroundings, to some, would be a cause of concern. Cody was not some, content to wander around for a bit and familiarize himself with praeitis while reflecting on exactly how this was the way his day decided it was going to pan out. Originally the plan had beenâŠ.Something? Cody couldnât quite bring up what his plans were, In a majority because of the new surroundings taking most of his attention.Â
He took his first step outside, with a groan he brought his arm up to cover his forehead in hopes that it would somehow provide his eyeballs some relief. Of course this only served to remind him he was holding the electronic I,d card provided by Peri. Peri was nice and deserved a nickname. P-dawg. Peri-dactyl? He could mull it over later He decided taking steps towards the hiking path. After all what better way to kill some time than to read up on his classmates while he hiked down to the quaint little village the guide had mentioned.Â
About halfway down the trail cody had wrapped up his readings. He didnât quite have everyoneâs faces matched up to their names but now he could introduce himself and feel confident that he knew something about his classmates! What a good time!Â
He was almost to the town when he realized he could take pictures.Â
âOh shit son! Selfie time!â
He spins himself around so the sun was shining directly on him, Extending His long arm high above his head he clicks the button he needed to take the selfie. What a good time. What a good day this is. He got to come to a beautiful town with a class full of people that werenât his friends yet but he was determined, he got a new phone! And to just add the cherry on top of the awesome cake. He could take a rockin selfie!Â
He arrived at the town. Yep. Sure were some buildings here. Woah! Was that a person! A new person was a new opportunity for friends! HE could do this. He could do this, Did they notice him staring awkwardly at them? Come on cody this is your shot kid.Â
Cody brought his hands up to clap his cheeks, Refocusing himself on the task at hand. The Quest if you will. Make +1 friend.Â
âYO! Hello! Hi there!â
He was sure that got their attention, After all what would get their attention if a shrieking hoodlum didnât. He jogged up to them. Smiling warmly.Â
âSo i know we just woke up here and all but iâm new here and i guess you are to. This place is pretty neat huh? all old timey and stuff! Oh! Right i forgot to introduce myself! My Cody name is hi! WaitâŠUh..â
Shit. This was off to a rousing start. Cody Fumbled over his words and continued to sputter over various Umâs and Uhâs for a moment before deciding on a simple.
âCody. My name is cody. Nice to meet you.â
Minding his business; thatâs what Hanako was doing. It had yet to dawn on him how permanent his stay at Praetis was. Every few steps, heâd stop, take a picture, and breath in the pure air. Rinse. Lather. Repeat. Soon enough, heâd be yanked back by the HPA.(âcause this was totally some exercise or something. No way theyâd be trapped on a hill.)
âYO! Hello! Hi there!â
The gardener politely ignored him, taking another picture and shuffling along. But as his footsteps quickened, it was hard not to. His sneer angled upward. This classmate was half a foot taller so naturally Hanakoâs temper would be that much shorter.Â
âYeah, it totally is. Itâs perfect as fuck. Camellia. Thatâs why Iâm trying to enjoy it. Yâknow... Alone.â he stated curtly.
He gave the boy a look between his bangs. He swore he looked like one of his Seeds, another street kid. Heâd smile at this... if he wasnât so agitated.
âDonât hurt yourself, damn.â he waved away the âumâs and âuhâs with his free hand âThe nameâs Hanako Kamikawa if thatâs what you want. What kind of name is âCodyâ? Is that American or French?â
green hill zone ⣠andrew ⣠prolouge [@ hanako]
(Oh well this is going splendidly already)
Andrew looked over at the other student before him, feeling as if this guy wasnât exactly too fond of Andrew already. Peri had told them to make friends with the other classmates here! And ⊠they would all be together for a long time. He didnât want anybody to really dislike him if they were going to be well, together for a very long time (The specifics were shaky at best). Andrew chuckled nervously after the other spoke, in an attempt to brush the comment off to the side and leave it there to collect dust.
Andrew gulped down his nerves and looked up at the other student in the face. And then promptly lowered his gaze down to the others chest because wow, despite not being able to see the green-haired boyâs eyes, he was awfully intimidating ⊠is that a watermelon shirt? Absentmindedly Andrew began to fidget with the sleeves of his sweater, trying to work up what he should respond with as fast as he could.
âEhehh, heheh. I-I really donât need that kin-kinda thing! Gondolaâs arenât scary! Be-besides, the gondola isnât up here right now so I canât head down to the town anyways. Eheheh! I guess you could say itâs uhh ⊠gone-dola?â
(Oh dear)
Andrew chuckled more at his stupid joke, looking away from the other in an attempt to avoid eye contact of any kind. His eyes began to rest on the flowers the other had been messing with. They really were awfully pretty. This guy must like flowers, Andrew thought to himself. Heâs messing with those flowers and heâs wearing one of those flower crowns. Only just now becoming aware of the awkward pause permeating the entire conversation, the artist did his best to stammer out something to at least continue the conversation.
âRight! Uhm, Andrew! Wait, no I mean, eheheh! Iâm Andrew. Andrew Nyotei! Though, I guess if you play a lot of visual novels you might know me by Kokamome? Eheheh ⊠because visual novels are kinda my thing, yâknow? My talent! Yeah, that! Well, not like overall visual novels. Iâm an artist! For visual novels. A visual novel artist. Right! Eheheheh!â
Andrew stopped rambling and looked over at the other student, realizing he was doing absolutely nothing to not make himself look like an utter fool. Laughing nervously again, he kept going (because why not embarrass himself more).
âSo you? I mean! Whatâs your talent? That you got invited to Hopeâs Peak Academy for! Iâm sure you have other talents of course, but like I mean that one specifically. Oh! And also uhm, your name? Like, yâknow mine is Andrew Nyotei, so whatâs yours? Yeah! That!â
What a disaster.
First, he interrupts him, and now he was making puns!? As Hankoâs contempt root, his âclassmateâ made it grow with the loads of fertilizer dropping from his mouth. He didnât want to be rude, but it was kinda hard not to with the way he was bumbling about and tripping over his words, triggering his irritation. At least they were both short. If heâd been annoying and tall, there wouldâve been a serious problem.
âAndrew âKokamomeâ Nyotei, huh? Iâm sure thatâd ring a bell if was some  hikikomori or otaku, right? Sadly, Iâm neither of those things so... introduction wasted.â
Okay... maybe that was little too mean. Even Hanako winced after the words left his mouth. He paused for a moment, a few seconds at the most, before taking a second shot at being less of a dick.
âRight, uh... Hyacinth... Purple Hyacinth... I, er... and Iâm Hanako Kamikawa. Super High School Level Guerrilla Gardener. Itâs fancy for planting shit where youâre not supposed to. Got a movement and a cult following, the âSeeds of the Revolutionâ, or just the âSeedsâ to save the mouthful. Now, I donât play many games or novels or whatever, none really, but I trust you gotta be pretty damn good to be a S-H-S-L too.â
