In power exchange dynamics, punishment refers to an action the Dom takes, usually negative reinforcement, to deter the submissive from breaking rules or from forgetting expectations.
But… what do you to for punishments? Have no fear. I’ve compiled a list, broken down into non-physical and physical punishments, to use as inspiration for your dynamic.
- Holding hands in ice water
- Forced cold shower / bath
- Nipple / genital weights
- Walking on rice, pebbles or leggos
- Loss of privileges (phone, internet, video games)
- Loss of privileges (bathroom, utensil or hand use)
- Writing essay related to the transgression
- Being reduced to human furniture
- Being made to hold an uncomfortable pose
- Being ignored / loss of speaking privileges
- Being locked in a cage or closet
- Using a chilled or heated dildo
- Being made to sleep on the floor
- Wearing humiliating or ill-fitting clothing
- Humiliating body writing
- Household chores (laundry, cleaning, dishes)
- Being made to scrub bathroom with tongue or toothbrush
- Being forced to perform a boring task (counting marbles, picking up grains of rice) with no other stimulation
- Being blindfolded and forced to listen to hated music / movie / show
- Hold coins against the wall without letting them slip
- Being forced to walk on tiptoes
- Being made to wear uncomfortable shoes
All punishments should be negotiated, and within the limits / boundaries of all parties involved.
A note on masochists: Masochists are not impossible to punish. You just need to be smart about it! Not all masochists like all kinds of pain. Use that. If they like sting, save thuddy toys for correction. But if all else fails, there are dozens of non-physical punishments you can use to discipline them without encouraging them to act out to get their masochistic needs fed.
