remembering this one time my father, a devout catholic who thinks of himself as progressive and believes in evolution etc, where we were arguing about "souls" and he was saying obviously animals don't have souls but humans do. and i said well you believe evolution happened. and he said yes. and i said so at some point as hominids were evolving did they just develop souls when they got 'human-like' enough? and without skipping a beat he said, yeah, at some point god said "okay you seem enough like humans" and a non-ensouled primate gave birth to an ensouled human child. and that's why humans have souls.
Sooo like Adam and eve didn't have souls or were they the first ones to have them?
i mean I don't think he believes Adam and Eve literally existed, but this is still a very funny idea. you and your wife give birth to two beautiful sons with the first ever human souls and immediately one kills the other with a rock
The idea of listening to no black music is bizarre to me. Even if it's not rap like no earth wind and fire? No reggae? No moonstomp? No ska? No classic jazz? No R and B? No disco??? No skindred? No jungle? No even like metal bands with a few black members? No gospel? Not even stuff like alors en dance? No blues music? No mo town? No jazz of any kind? No big band? No soul music? Not even a little James Brown?
not even yola or tanner adell or brittney spencer or tracy chapman or india.arie or chapel hart or the carolina chocolate drops or rhiannon giddens????
Or…

If Spider-Gwen had a bi flag on her wall there wouldn’t be any debate as to whether or not she was really bi
“Oh but I think that it’s that her version of Peter was trans so that’s why—”
This conversation would not exist if it was a bi flag or a pan flag or an ace flag
Why are you so eager to convince yourself that she’s not a trans woman? Why is that?
“I don’t mind characters being trans but I hate that it’s made their whole personality can’t it just be that they’re trans and the narrative doesn’t have the call all this attention to it? Just let it be subtly there”
Aight here’s a trans woman who’s narrative is thematically linked with her transness in a way that enriches both her story, her characterization, and the story around her who doesn’t ever mention that she’s trans (but y’know she has a trans flag in her room in the background subtly like you asked)
“Uhhhh yeah she isn’t trans where does it say that she’s trans and also why would it matter that she’s trans? Stop projecting yourself onto fictional characters”

CONGRATS ON FINISHING YOUR EXAMS!! AND AUAHAHH THANK YOU FOR THIS... it's perfect.. and true-
I just want you all to know i am planning to drive across the country to steal this street sign and hang it over my toilet
Dont announced your crimes over unsecured channels dumbass
I've spent the past month cooped up in a motel in Orange County planning my theft, before I steal the sign I will set off a cache of fireworks I've placed 5 blocks away from the nearest police station which will rain down on the pigs, the perfect diversion.
Love that this alien arm is clearly just green bubblewrap. 70s prosthetics I love you
Classic SF once again betrayed by a clear, static-free signal and a flat digital screen
This is how I remember classic Who and Star Trek, folks, with signal ghosts and scanning lines (but usually with more static/snow)
Sharing this on my main because it appears from the notes that it's useful for some modern viewers.
You KNOW classic SF used the limited displays of CRT television and the static of transmitted signals the way theaters use stage makeup and lighting to make inexpensive props look great fine— take advantage of the medium! But it's hard to imagine how it looked if you've only seen Blu-ray HD restorations.
I swear to you, despite classic Who using bubble wrap for years as one of its go-to materials that reflected light in interesting ways, we never realized that's what it was.
One of the most frightening things I've ever heard is when somebody pointed out that the existence of flinching away when you touch something hot implies that at some point there was an evolutionary reason to be afraid of scary fire monsters that attacked people 😨
Now you know who has the saddest backstory in Chainsaw Man.
jump scare for the American readers
we’re so lucky that gilgamesh survived and is a banger. can you imagine if we found the oldest written human story ever recorded and it sucked balls.
