can i call myself a pro shipper if i’m fine with dark ships in fanfiction yet not in other pieces of media? i don’t know why but something about it in books and movies makes me uncomfortable.

proship has nothing to do with personally liking dark ships. proship literally just means "being anti harassment and anti censorship" that's all.

so proship is NOT about "I personally like dark ships" (obviously you can be proships and enjoy dark ships, but that's not a necessity). it just means "I am against harassing real people over fiction and I believe censorship is bad".

what ships you like or hate, or if you're only fine with fanfics but are uncomfortable with books and movies, has nothing to do with being pro ship. you can be uncomfortable with any ship, on any media, you can hate any ship and you can find any ship disgusting — as long as you don't harass or shame others over what fictional ships they enjoy (including the ones you hate and find disgusting), then by its definition you're pro ship.

Every so often I get recommended a new video on YouTube about some bigotry in the Harry Potter series and or universe. And EVERY TIME it's a new type of bigotry I hadn't heard of/considered before.

Like not to be all "it was always bad", but. It's honestly pretty shitty. (I stopped because of the slavery, personally. Before she became a terf even)

You can let it go. You can pick up a different book. There are plenty more kids/YA series. And if you're over the age 20, there are plenty of books for adults too. Read Chuck Tingle's horror novels. They're unapologetically queer and very good.

The adults in this reboot of the franchise are FULLY accountable for choosing to do this show and accepting a pay cheque over supporting a minority group. Even if they claim they support trans rights, they’re cowards and don’t actually support them at all.

The kids do NOT deserve abuse or hate, whether it’s because you’re comparing them to Dan/Rupert/Emma or because you’re boycotting due to the author’s views. They are literal CHILDREN.

Your nostalgia over a children’s series about kids going to school is NOT more important than trans people being respected and having rights. As long as JKR is still alive, she profits off of this.

#if you really really have to watch it (but why would you) please just pirate it #wait a few months. then pirate it. there’s always gunna be pirates somewhere anywhere #also finally a fucking post that mentions not spreading hate to the children. FINALLY.
