All Hallows was an awesome event with my guild, St. Margaret's (living history reenactment) The court chose a theme to be a Ministry of Viziers. Everyone dressed up in their best fantastical and magical outfits, and I took the opportunity to don my Loki outfit. It had been a long time since I had the chance to wear him, and it felt so good to be the God of Sass, Class, and Mischief. The event involved trick or treaters, and one little boy dragged his parents over to our encampment, practically screaming "I wanna see Loki, there's Loki" he was all dressed up in Spider-Man avengers clothes and was just ecstatic. He told me all about my actions, and Hel, and my brother Thor. I live for those moments. Even though I'm not portraying Marvel Loki, it's amazing to see kids just light up. Well, the horns are usually a dead giveaway...
Anyways, I signed up for a costume contest that evening, in the Master's Category. I've never entered a contest, mostly because I never feel I'm skilled enough. I made two friends, which helped with my anxiety. I was the first to go up, so I was holyshitting with anxiety.
Not only did I get a huge welcome when I came on stage, but the judges were incredibly impressed with my work. When I took off my cloak and showed the bindrune I painted on the back, everyone seemed to be even more ecstatic.
One judge saw my Mjölnir and was all impressed that I had carved it myself. I told him it wasn't part of the costume, but of my faith.
I had gotten second place and my dingus self was all "Wait, what? Oh that's me!" After the applause, just sort of stood there like a dork, and exclaimed (without realizing there was a moment of silence) "I never won anything in my life"
And there was an "aww" from the first row and judges, as I scurried away with my trophy.
That night my guild members and I celebrated my win and the next day I was voluntold to aid in a trial at the Queen's court. Which I did, causing quite a stir and some blasphemy. The trial ended well, And I flirted with the Queen as she gave me a favour. But not a clover to make a request at her court in the future. Darn.
Now for some photos and stuff! (Finally)
Oh, I was also awarded an unofficial official title of Aaron non Grata. Because of shenanigans.
