“Not that I can’t help myself, but I do find it interesting that someone like yourself would try and save a cat from a tree. Are you trying to find some recognition?” Of course he wasn’t interested. he couldn’t care less about what others did in this city. However, the mask interest towards others in this city always did bring out possibilities for a new test subject.”

  “It’s not anything as high-brow as that -- just that stuff like this brings back memories. Albeit not the best memories, but they’re memories of my old place back in Arkham. Used to be that I could only get by with the money that I got off people for finding their cats...or other crude “P.I.” jobs.”

  Reminiscing was all well and good, but having said all that, Kurou lost his balance and seemingly feel off the branch he’d climbed onto, the cat in his arms howling with anxiety.   But then, in an instant, he was directly next to the man who he was speaking to -- and the cat, as well. Kurou let it run back to wherever its home was, before brushing himself off. Turning his head, he looked at the guy curiously.

“What? Something wrong? Never seen a guy teleport?”

Gittel huddled behind the kitchen counter. She was in the correct apartment, right? J-1, yes, of course. But, who was this stranger opening the door? Was it someone seeking her demise or is she overreacting?

The toddler peered over the counter, 

“He-ello?” She called out towards the male figure. 

“Are you here to harm me?”

  It was after a long day of justice that Kurou teleported in front of his home and opened the door up with a smirk on his face. Of course, he could have just teleported inside to make things easier, but it was the little, human actions he took that kept him going.   Speaking of little humans, it seemed that one of his roommates finally showed herself -- and Kurou was surprised to see that she was quite small. In fact, he might not have even noticed her, had she not spoken up.

“Wh-whoa, wait a minute -- you’re jumping to conclusions there.” Kurou said, nervously. “I just live here. I wouldn’t even dream of messing with you.”

“Ah, man…” 

   How’d he let this happen? Heck, how did it even happen to begin with? Last he knew, he was holding onto the Flame Ring perfectly fine. Then, when he stopped to sit down, he found it missing from his hand! Gone, right off of his finger! What was he to do now? He’d sent off Garuda to try and look for the tiny trinket, but at this point, he was out of luck. 

“It’s got to be around here somewhere…” His concern was quite evident, to the point where anyone just wandering around could notice it.

  At just about any turn now that this beach and its parties were in its final stages, there was junk and trash to be cleaned up, and personal items to pick out from said junk and trash. Kurou, being the helpful person he was, decided to take matters into his own hands.   Now holding a metal detector he’d borrowed from a nearby store, he was treading the shores and looking for lost items while simultaneously cleaning up. It was a pretty altruistic thing -- and also oddly pleasant. The feeling of success was one that Kurou wouldn’t mind having forever.   It was around the time that this thought came into his head that he noticed someone else seemed to be looking for something. Overhearing those words, it was confirmed -- this guy had lost something.

“Hey -- you there.” Kurou called out. “If what you’re looking for is made of metal, I’ve got this thing right here. Can help you out if you want to use it for a while. I’ll just clean up in the meantime.”

  Notes in hand, Kurou was currently drawing a diagram for a robot that could be built entirely using interlocked pieces, of which were made of pressed together q-tips. It might have been cheating, but he had made a personal press that smushed a load of q-tips he had created into pieces, mostly flat planes and jigsaw puzzle-like connectors.   Behind him was a literal mountain of tiny q-tips, and next to that was another mountain of glue sticks. He also had a hot glue gun that he made sitting next to his feet, and was casually speaking out loud as he read the specs for an optimal Gundam.

“Eighteen and a half meters tall...a standard weight of roughly forty-three tons...pft, what kind of idiot designed this blocky thing? Looks so rough. ...Not that mine is likely to be any better, but still.”

  An expert on robot creation, Kurou could build Demonbane back from scratch if he wanted to. He’d done it countless times before. But only using material from q-tips and glue sticks -- well, that was a challenge, even for him.   But it wasn’t impossible. After all, nothing was impossible for Daijuuji Kurou!   Usually.   He was making a scene out of his mess in an empty parking lot, and though he wasn’t exactly bothering anyone, a curious passerby could easily find their way to where he was and interrupt his planning. Not that he would mind, though.

  Any kid from Japan knew what a Gundam was. A mech, a mobile suit. There were many forms of it, but even someone like Kurou who hadn’t even lived most of his life in Japan knew what they were like.   The picture perfect mecha. The sort of thing that was iconic, even.   As a result, despite the challenge presented to him by the scientists -- Kurou felt he should lighten up the whole mood that the city had. With the war having passed, and a sense of shaky peace being established, he decided that solidifying that calm with a bit of humor might make things in the city a lot more enjoyable for people.   Everyone needed a break, after all.   In the skies above Sector 1, packages of q tips and glue sticks would find themselves falling down gently onto the surface, each one tied to a balloon, making the falls completely harmless. Attached to each package was a detailed drawing of a mecha, and plenty of instructions.   The basic rundown was that he wanted to stir up some friendly, comedic competition between residents of the city, and whoever could build the best mecha within the timespan of a single day would get whatever they could ask for, given that it didn’t harm anyone else.   With several hundred tiny little packages floating down the horizon, Kurou stretched and got to working himself. He was a part of the competition too, after all.

“...really hope that this lightens things up. Everyone’s acting like a grimdark protagonist having a midlife crisis after everything that happened.”

  So since I wanted to have a little bit of fun and lighten things up a bit after that event conclusion, here’s a thing I think would be pretty funny to have happen. I imagine no one’s really gonna make one -- I certainly have a difficult time imagining even Kurou doing it without hax -- but I think it’ll be a comedic little happening nevertheless. Enjoy yourselves.

Mission objective: Learn the intricate forms of other mechs, just not those that alter the state of the universe. Complete an intricate, scale, and functioning model of a Gundam of your choice entirely out of q-tip cotton swabs and glue sticks. Pit it against one of your mechs. TIME LIMIT: 72 hours from date of publish and the challenge style is ‘thread' or 'drabble.' Good luck!

With little to speak of, she preferred to listen intently, regardless of how utterly useless it seemed. Provokes of slurs and belittling words meant insignificant to her, trivial qualities that would tired a soul that had much potential when saved.

Even with the undignified compliment did she barely react upon it, her chilling eyes fixated at the being that almost seemed like he was talking to himself at this point. All she was here for was to correct such mishaps done by their opposing team, the main source of all the trouble that had been ruptured at this point.

This was their fault, after all. If they were gone, then all would be resolved. All of this dirt would be washed away, cleansed into purity once more as it always has been. For now, she was generous enough for him to demonstrate what he had up his sleeves, though it was rather done voluntarily on his part with his rash sensibility.

The over sized weapon vanquishing the a group of substance that came near their ‘foe’s’ territory, she began to wonder whether he was lending a hand to this side. For what purpose was there to help a land that was attacking theirs? Personally, she was bewildered by such actions.

“While you criticize what I have said, it comes to my attention that what you are doing is contradicting what you’ve mentioned before. Are our enemies not the ones below us?”

“Allowing these creatures to punish their sins would be enough for their misery, but if you are thinking of destroying them with that weapon of yours- then allow me to end this quickly for the sake of our world.”

Her arms now targeting beneath their stance, several shots were blown out of the pistols. From it, no one would have been able to tell they were coming directly out of handguns. A single ammo equivalent to a massive explosive, with multiples darting at a hefty amount of soldiers and gunners, their bodies burned harshly from the incoming attacks, their yells echoing from below as she watched them in an unfazed manner.

  Tracing a five-pointed star in the air, Crow projected the Elder Sign - a barrier, simply put - to cover the people on the ground. Most lived through it all.   Then - without hesitation, he followed that up with a slash directed at the woman atop the roof. The machine arm outlet a huge blast of fire and air pressure, enough to tear through the whole of the building with ease.   It was immediately after that when he made his next move - flying forward, directly at the rooftop, he then floated near her, staring her down with fury and disgust in his eyes. His words shared those attributes.

“My enemy is evil. You get in my way, that makes you evil. Doesn’t matter where you’re from. Doesn’t matter if you’re my best friend or not. All that matters is that you’re wrong, and I’m right.”

“And don’t you dare - don’t you ever fucking dare - commit mass murder under the pretense of justice. You damn hypocrite.”

  Crow refused to let another scene like that of the ruined city of Arkham happen again. Everything was gone - and he was the only survivor. And this war, this pointless, useless war was all too similar to that.   So - regardless of one’s stance, or origin, if they got in his way, he’d kill them. After all, he could never do any wrong. He was the innocent blade, after all. The smiter of evil, as it were.   And the woman in front of him had become something evil. It was only natural to strike her down then, wasn’t it?

  Kurou could feel it - the interstice between these two alternate cities was going to come to an end soon enough. Be it the speeches people were giving on the ground, or just a general gut feeling - he knew the end of this whole operation was going to come to a close.   As a result - above the skies of the otherworld’s Sector 1 was Kurou, piloting Demonbane. His words that had been spoken a handful of times whilst in the city, words that he’d spoken countless times in the past, were spoken again.

“In this world of light, there’s no place for darkness!”

  Green light encapsulated the whole of the mechanical god, compressing around the hand, and magic runes surrounded the entire Sector. Rather than containing the infinite amount of energy that was about to be let out through Demonbane’s hand into a small space, Kurou was--

“Thirst not, hunger not--return to nothing!!”

  --Planning on sublimating the Sector entirely. Of course, he’d taken measures beforehand to evacuate those of good morality into other Sectors using his teleportation, but anyone that was of evil - they would not escape justice.   Flying into the direct center of the Sector - into the alternate apartment complex, Kurou smashed infinite heat, infinite gravity, and zero mass into it. From that point - a light, truly endless - sublimated the Sector into nothingness, tantamount to a nuclear bomb that could utterly annihilate all it could reach.

“LEMURIA--IMPACT!!”

  Ignoring the laws of inertia, Demonbane jumps back as the annihilation sphere expands, only to instantly teleport to the other side - to the normal side. The home side.   Landing atop the original sector’s first apartment complex, Demonbane’s image turns away from the bright explosion above it, its duty as an avatar of justice fulfilled.

Just as a follow up to Connor’s speech about how we ought to destroy as much of the other side as we can, Kurou has destroyed altSector 1! Regardless of that, though, like I mentioned in the post - he made sure he didn’t fuck up anyone good. Justicefuckers don’t kill innocents, or good people. B)

The Lemuria Impact is tier 7, as it’s a city-destroyer if Kurou doesn’t hold it back. Normally it’s pretty anti-personnel, but this time he busted up the whole of altSector 1. Boom. Gone. Sublimated.

It only messed with altSector 1, so no worries about it slipping into other Sectors! Though Kurou might head back up to the other side in order to keep on fighting, most likely.

Both cities were already in ruins, so no matter how it was resolved there seemed to be little difference in conclusion. Prevalence crumbled down like dust, humanity was at its worst. As a god who was responsible for the balance of the world with their warfare, this was quite an eyesore to witness from above.

Throughout the event she managed to defeat some ‘evil’, but despite efforts they seemed to continue multiplying every second. Nevertheless, it was unforgivable and she had no intentions of leaving it be. If on under any conditions ‘their’ world failed, then all the things that she has done would have become nothing but a waste.

Sitting on top of her loyal steed that seemed to be suffering through the amount of blight it had been exposed thus far, in midair did she come across another existence that appeared to ramble out at their opponents.

His announcement seeming to finish off in a hostile manner, dark lilacs stared at him grimly, unspecific of whether she approved of his actions or felt ill about it. Somewhat mesmerizing if one continued to stare into them for a lengthy amount of time, a hint of intimidation glowed in her stoic expression.

In return, the weaponry in her hands had perked his curiosity on her as well, followed by a clumsy boast investing in his own gears. Her response wasn’t immediate, as if to take leisure in her time to not spend it all through a mouthful of catchphrases. Once opening her lips though, she spoke in a stale nature that was appropriate with her initial reaction.

“Justice must prevail, no matter how it is accomplished. In this world, only one will succumb in their failures.”

“That aspect of yours doesn’t seem to excuse your poor etiquette, do you believe it is wise for you to test a god of war?”

“Hell if I know. Can’t deny that it’s the truth, though - can you?”

  Crow vaguely recalled meeting this girl sometime before. Wasn’t anything particularly memorable, but it was there - and as a precursor to any action, he sized her up.   Nothing special.   She was from his side, right? Even if she spouted shit like “justice,” only he was the law around here. He’d decide if she could live up to her words. If she turned out to be some sort of evil god - then, without hesitation, he’d shoot her down.   It was then that he remembered her name - and subsequently smirked.

“God of war, eh?”

“There’s plenty who call themselves by that, but add in an ass like that and that leaves only one.   I can’t say I get what you’re selling, though - poor etiquette? The hell does shit like that have to do on the battlefield?   Listen up; the only thing that matters at a stage like this is whether or not you’re killing the bad guys. If you’re not, then get out of the way for those that can. Like me. Getting tired of pointless chitchat. You wanna talk, match those words of yours with that justice you seem to hold in such esteem.”

  At that moment, Crow spoke up in a different voice this time, louder than before, and much more powerful. Dark words for dark magic. Dark magic to slay dark creatures--

“Lend me the power of the emblem, of Voor’s invincibility! Scimitar of Barzai!”

  A sword appeared in both Crow’s hand, and the machine god arm that was floating in the air not too far away from him. Flying upwards, Crow slashed at nothing. But, the arm laid waste to a group of invading otherworld drones.   Despite being a native to the “otherworld,” as the victims of this invasion were calling it, Crow had been witness to the effects of seeing one of those things hit people on this side. Refusing to let needless suffering happen, he decided he’d rather take care of them himself. He was the one who judged, no one else.

  Chaos. That was a good word to describe the current conflict between the two cities. Crow couldn’t be bothered to discriminate against whoever was from which side. Too much effort - besides, it was pointless. Justice was dealt to those that deserved it, regardless of their place in the world.   As a matter of fact, he was only on this side of the city because there was more fighting going on over on this side. Made things easier for him. If all evil was concentrated in one area, that just meant he could let himself go.   Regardless of that, however - it seemed that people were a lot less capable than he was expecting. Most were using weaponry that seemed to have been scavenged off the ground, and were nothing more than trained humans.

“What a letdown.”

  Placing two fingers in the air in front of him, Crow created an Elder Sign. It was to protect him from an onslaught of bullets raining down on him from one side, but he felt a presence behind him - and a strong one, at that.   Turning, he let his side face the person behind him, immediately having drawn Cthugha from its holster. He stared it down. He knew this feeling.   It was the inhuman Other.

“So you’re here, too, evil god? Showing yourself in front of me ain’t gonna turn out to be the best idea of the century.”

  So what if there was another city slipped on top of his own? Justice was unbiased, and always correct. Evildoers wouldn’t prevail, and righteousness would reach all those that would play at being evil. Regardless of the setting, there was not a place in this world that could escape the wrath of “D.”   The only thing that changed was the amount of people he could send to hell.   And that made things all the more interesting.   Within the sky of the “other” city was a floating arm, mechanical in design and massive in size. Held in its hands was a gun, a magazine-fed automatic. Bullets spewing from its barrel, it blasted away anyone thinking they could come from the skies in order to attack the other city.

“They’re all so fuckin’ idiotic; didn’t they get enough of this shit on the other side? Guess I’ll have to beat it into them on two fields, then.”

  Crow began to shout.

“Hey - if any of you freaks can hear me, remember this:   I’m always right.   You’re always wrong.   And plus, you’re pretty damn stupid to try and attack a place that’s not done shit to you.”

  Suddenly, he felt the presence of someone - someone with a fairly powerful air about them. With a quick turn of his head, he stared them down fearlessly, all the while analyzing what they looked like.   Crow’s eyes perked up at the sight of dual guns, and he smirked at the person who had been looking at him from afar. In a voice both serious and brash at the same time, he spoke out to her.

“I like your style. Good choice of weaponry there - can’t say that I could disagree about them anywhere. Mine are better, though.”

The Eternal Return

“What, if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: ‘This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more’ … Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse the demon who spoke thus? Or have you once experienced a tremendous moment when you would have answered him: 'You are a god and never have I heard anything more divine.'“

“Fuck it! This shit won’t fly by me anymore--it’s time to stage a goddamn counter-attack already! The best defense is a counter, I say!”

  As good of a defense as he could muster with a fully-powered Demonbane and his vast assortment of weaponry, Kurou couldn’t stomach letting this go on any longer. Just being meatbags for those invaders to wail on--what could be more pathetic than that?   Though he still respected everyone who chose to defend, and even made a few clones of himself to assist down below, his main body shouted in a voice that would be received across the skies of Sector 1, as well as most major radio broadcasts across the city.

“It’s time to turn the tables on these other side bastards--anyone who can fly, anyone who can fight and is willing to fight, take to the skies and show those fuckers that we’re not just toys for them to play with whenever they feel like it!”

“We’re crossing over into their territory now, it’s time to put an end to this useless, meaningless war!!”

  And with that intense speech made known to the whole city of the original Hive, Daijuuji Kurou and Demonbane increased the power of Shantak tenfold, crossing the boundary between each city’s skies, and likely would have more people following him by the minute.   No more being the victims in this fight---it was time to show those othersiders what the Hive was made of.

tl;dr Kurou gave a shonen as fuck speech and now it’s time to fucking party--I mean, uh, stage a counter attack. Feel free to use it an excuse to toss your character to the other side! He’s currently situated in altSector 1, but regardless of that, his intent was made known to everyone on our side of the Hive, so yeah...time to tussle. (ง •̀_•́)ง

“Looking at everything going on up there, I’d say you still have some work to do.”

The boy shrugged. Given everything he’d seen thus far it wasn’t something that he’d accuse him of lying about despite how ridiculous it seemed.

“That kind of job is too big for one person in the first place. No matter how close you are to God, it’s impossible to think evil will stay down when you kill it. In a case like that, no, in this case we should focus on what we can do in this universe. If there’s something even you can’t handle by yourself then ask me for help, we’re coworkers after all.”

“Yeah. I’m not gonna stop until every last one of those bastards is gone.”

  As for the comments about how impossible it was...yeah. Plenty of times---countless times, in fact--across infinite universes, evil won. But the very fact that it “won” meant that there was a struggle that had to be fought in order to claim victory. At every infinitesimal moment of creation, good would struggle against evil---eternally. ...But, for all the poetics that Kurou might have been able to say---

“Yeah, you’re kinda right. I do like relying on myself a bit. Even so, regardless of whether or not something’s impossible, whether or not the end result is the same even if I don’t try or even do anything at all---I’ll still fight. I don’t wanna leave things remaining with a bad taste in my mouth, looking back.”

“What’s with that form?”

A look of initial confusion turned into one of slight amusement. He turned his gaze from his coworker to the massive machine that flew overhead laying waste to anything foolish enough to stand in its path.

“Something like that could end a war on its own. Just what the hell were you fighting in that?”

“Let’s just say it’s a memento from an old friend of mine.”

  Magius Style was the result of Al pouring her magic power into Kurou to help augment his own lacking capabilities as a sorcerer. It was the foothold for him at the start of everything, and he held it close to his heart as a memory he’d never forget. ...Plus, it showed off how ripped he was. That was a plus, too.

“...Uh. It wouldn’t technically be hyperbole if I said every last speck of evil in every possible universe, ever...would it? Because, well. There’s your answer.”

“So that’s the real Demonbane? It’s even flashier than I thought it’d be.”

“I can’t sit around if you’re getting busy. Don’t get in over your head or I might show you up, Kurou!”

“Yup. Consider that Hive City’s grand hero of justice, for as long as he’s around.”

  It was more than likely that Kurou’s coworker wouldn’t recognize him in this state, but having heard his name being called, he had sent a clone using his Mirror of Nitocris in order to have a quick chat.

“What do you think about my choice in weaponry?” Kurou said, gloved hand pointing at the mecha flying through the air that was using massive dual pistols, sending all evil invaders of the city to their graves.

“From the hate-scorched sky--”

      If there was anyone that was going to be hitting the limits of their powers here,

“With righteous anger in our hearts,”

      It was going to be someone who was angry.

“We draw forth the sword that smites evil!”

      Someone who was seriously pissed off for the sake of everyone in the city.

“Thou art the innocent blade--Demonbane!”

      That someone--was Daijuuji Kurou. Then, as promised--it came.

      From the sky, bearing the collective hatred of everyone in the city. A hulking steel machine in the shape of a human--or perhaps, in the shape of God--stood heroically, the Elder Sign shining at its back.       It was summoned for humans, by a human. Even if it wasn’t its peak strength, if such a concept could even be applied to it at that point, it was still the Deus Machina that had long ago defended its own city--just like this one--from harm.       Even in the battle between two opposing cities, even in the skies that held them apart, even as the world fell into ruin around it--

      The mechanized god’s justice was about to be exacted.

eyy so heads up I’m gonna go fucking insane as kurou for the event however a few things to note I’ve actually dabbled a lot in power level data for him--that’s actually how I got into Demonbane in the first place--so I know the limits I’ll be placing on him for one this demonbane is gonna be the demonbane from zanmataisei, right after completing itself with shantak, however it will not have the shining trapezohedron in its arsenal. That puts it right under tier 7 in terms of vs battle stuff, though it could technically go further, I’ll be holding myself back a bit. Kurou’s gonna be starting in Sector 1, but he’ll basically be flying through the skies and shooting the fuck out of anyone coming from the other side with Cthugha and Ithaqua thanks for reading! this event’s got me hype as fuck
