Anti-Infectives

Levofloxacin (lee-voe-flocks-a-sin) Levaquin

Side Effects

Headache, nausea, vomitting, diarrhea, constipation

stomach pain

Dizziness, heartburn

vaginal itching and/or discharge

tendon rupture or tendinitis

Irritation, pain, tenderness, redness, warmth, or swelling at injection spot

seizures, confusion, rash

Hallucination paranoia

Angioedema

Nursing Considerations

Treatment of respiratory tract, urinary tract, and skin infections, otis media, and STD infections

Take for 10-14 days to prevent superinfection

give 1 or 2 hours after antacid

give with food to enhance absorption

ALT (SGPT) - 1-45 U/L

Ammonia - 10-50 µmol/L

Amylase - 25-125 U/L

Anion Gap - 7-16 mEq/L

AST (SGOT) - 1-36 U/L

BUN - 7-18 mg/dl

Calcium - 8.5-10.5 mg/dL

Carbon Dioxide - 23-30mEq/L

Chloride - 95-105 mEq/L

CPK - Male 38-175 Female 26-140 U/L

Creatinine - 0.6-1.2 mg/dL

Glucose 70-100 mg/dL

Lactic Acid - 0.6-2.2 mg/dL

Lipase - 10/160 U/L

Magnesium - 1.5-2.5

Phosphorus - 3.0-4.5 mg/dL

Potassium - 3.5-5 mEq/L

Sodium - 135-145 mEq/L

TSH - 0.4-4.8 mIU/mL

While all of these are important the bold chemistries are some of the most common that you use in practice and in school
