cursedspikesâ:
Risu was a little surprised to hear the girl suddenly start laughing, then it made him a little mad when she explained why. Why the hell would she joke about something like that when she has that name attached to her? The irritation was replaced with embarrassment at his baseless anxiety, then finally relief as he realized he wasnât in any immediate danger. He could drop his helpless facade now, at least.
âWell, thatâs good. Though I really do appreciate any help you can give me,â he answered, voice more solid than when he spoke before. âI donât actually think there was anyone who had it out for me. If they did, then they hid it pretty damn well.â He wasnât friends with all of them by any means, but he didnât think he was on bad terms with them.
Her next question was one that he was hoping she wouldnât ask, but now that she posed no threat to him, Risu didnât feel the need to hide it anymore.
âOh, did I say he knocked me out? I meant he killed me.â He pointed to the side of his neck. No scars remained there due to his sturdiness and the ability of the strain that resurrected him. âHe stabbed me about here. Thatâs how I guess he mustâve been around my height. I donât know why Iâm back, really, but Iâd like to know who killed me. So I guess itâs a bit more personal than just being robbed of my wallet or something.â Risu scowled a little. âKilled me right after I learned what my ability was⊠pretty stupid, if you ask me.â
âYouâre lucky you came to the current heir rather than stumbling into anyone else, honestly. Most of them are a lot more...traditional, to put it nicely,â she continued, straightening her jacket and slipping her hands into the pockets. Extortion and collecting debts...they werenât really her style, and she supposed there was one good thing about her taking over, being able to put a stop to that.Â
Not having anyone he could pinpoint specifically was definitely going to make it hard. That meant literally any of those cross guys could be the culprit, and it definitely wouldnât be wise to go charging in without more information, no matter who the person was. She wasnât about to go dragging Homra in for a little more firepower either. But doing that would also just prove the groupâs point in their eyes, probably. That people with powers were a problem. Nobu let out a heavy sigh as she thought it over.
However, her thoughts came to a screeching halt with the maleâs next admission and she whipped her head around to stare at him so quickly she nearly pulled a muscle. âHe what?â she repeated, eyes widening. Heâd been killed? How in the hell was he still up and moving around? No, wait, she had heard some rumors about some other guy with a similar ability but...
She pinched the bridge of her nose as she processed the information. âOkay...so the dude killed you, you came back to life, and you have no idea who did it...other than heâs part of those cross eyed guys?â she summarized. Well, actually, knowing that, she could at least fathom a guess. âGoing off of this, and what I know about those guys, Iâm almost positive he tried to kill you because you developed a power. Try, of course, because he clearly failed since youâre right here in front of me.â
Granted, did any of them really seem like killers? This was likely the first sheâd heard about a situation like this. âIt canât be that hard to find someone tall enough to stab you there though,â she hummed. âI can think of two people right off the bat my network knows of, but far as I know, they have no ties to the guys youâre looking for. Pretty freakinâ tall though from what I hear.â
