If you want to call me something, you can call me Horsefly (she/her) - welcome to my Clangen blog! I've wanted to make one of these for some time now so I'm finally committing.

DaisyClan's story begins when three young cats are ordered to flee from a sickness that has overtaken their Clan.

The story is based on the Clangen game and furthermore the Warrior Cats books. This comic will feature Warrior Cats typical animal violence and death, including kit death, and might include swearing.

Having a deputy you cannot fully trust must be Very taxing for sunstar. She needs someone that she can really lean on and confide to about clan affairs without worrying there is a hidden agenda

Whoever the next deputy is (whenever that comes, and whether it's Sunstar's deputy or a potential Raggedstar's) is already decided because I've played ahead in-game by like 200 moons. But yeah it looks like people would vote Mushroompoppy as emergency leader as things stand!! I agree she would slay... Mushroomstar.

Yes the girls would have been told about Larkheart, though they probably don't remember her very well. Because DaisyClan's attitude to these things is quite liberal, I don't think they feel strange about it, but I will probably have them reckon with their FireClan roots at some point, and hey, maybe Larkheart will make a reappearance one day. I have no concrete plans about that though.

Larkheart doing Indiana Jones stuff is canon now for sure. Owlpaw, Frozenpaw and Sagepaw are like "man growing up is tough!" meanwhile their biological mother:

I have a question and apologies if this has been asked before but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

How different do you think the Clan would be if Raggedveil or Cottonwish had been chosen as leader? What would have changed in their leading styles or their relationships?

This has not been asked before and it's a great question!

If Raggedveil became Raggedstar, I think he'd have internally panicked but tried to play it cool. He's a smooth talker and would probably make some strong allies in other Clans and outsiders, and be good at rallying Clanmates. But he's also far more impulsive and impetuous and has no tact. If he was leader right now, DaisyClan would probably be at war with RueClan already, and it would be looking bad for them. I do think he'd have chosen Sunheart(star) as deputy and that they would butt heads like they do in our timeline. I don't know that he'd have had the thought to ask Cottonwish to be healer. Cottonwish would have either offered himself eventually or Raggedstar would have reached out to other Clans for help while searching for a travelling healer who might want to stay. Raggedstar and Sunheart might not have gotten together in this timeline. I reckon Sunheart would be frustrated with a lot of Raggedstar's choices as leader and their leader-deputy relationship would lead to a more fraught dynamic, and any romantic feelings would be too tied up in frustration to be realised. However, if Cottonwish didn't become a healer, he and Raggedstar might have wound up together, and Cottonwish's straightforward but calmer sensibilities might have been good for Raggedstar. Basically, with Raggedveil, the charm and good intent is there, but the intelligence and political know-how is not. He also is famously drawn to self-destructive behaviour soooo.

If Cottonwish had become Cottonstar, I think he would have been terrified. He was the youngest of the group and had the fewest memories of original DaisyClan and their clanmates. However, he did have a connection with StarClan, which in our timeline drew him to become a healer. I also think that Cottonwish has a strong potential for emotional intelligence and is certainly very empathetic, which might make for a good leader, but a difficult time for such a young and all-feeling cat in a position of power. He'd probably have picked Sunheart as deputy too and leaned on her a lot. I think Sunheart might have been bitter towards StarClan for picking the youngest and most vulnerable cat among them to lead, and would want to take on the brunt of the difficulty. However, with time, Cottonwish's compassion would become less overwhelming for him and he would have his head in the clouds less, and become more reasonable. Him having to focus on becoming leader and lean on his friends might have made them all closer, and Cottonwish's crush on Raggedveil probably would have fizzled and been replaced with strong platonic feelings. Maybe Sunheart and Raggedveil would have ended up together here, maybe not. They'd probably all be more united as friends.

Anybody feel free to write an au with these possibilities because they're honestly quite interesting lol. This makes me want to do a poll, I might post it seperately now...

I’m also assuming sunstar doesn’t want to go public with raggedveil and cottonwish’s affair because of what larkheart told her before she adopted her daughters - “please spare them from grief.” learning your dad is cheating on your mom would definitely cause some grief.

There's a bad fanfiction trope where the two guys the author wants to shop get together and the actual love interest gets unceremoniously dumped or turns spontaneously evil for the fic (or sidelined as One-Note Bestie) and the whole clan drama right now is like if someone examined what randomly abandoning your wife you had kids with would actually look like in a real life scenario and that you can't just be gay and leave lmfao . Recognize women as people with feelings challenge impossible

This was a big motivation for this storyline with me so I'm glad it comes across that way! I got an ask way back (that I don't think I replied to) criticising the comic for doing the "abandoned female character for yaoi" thing, before I had Sunstar discover the drama, which I had been building up to. In my mind I was like... please wait like a few updates, I promise I'm onto something lmao.

I hope most people caught onto the silent-argument scene, Sunstar was telling Pebblebounce what she already told Prickleclaw, that she has some idea of the affair but doesn't really plan to do anything about it. Sagepaw drowning and the conflict with RueClan last moon put things into perspective with her, and she is embarrassed by her outburst at Raggedveil, thinking that she needs to be a team with him and not blow up their dynamic for the sake of DaisyClan (and their children.) Prickleclaw responded in a much more even-tempered way, but Pebblebounce is NOT like Prickleclaw. Pebblebounce is very frustrated with Sunstar's decision to not speak out about it, and is already really upset, so they took it out on her. Not exactly fair and definitely sad for Sunstar, but I hope it's somewhat understandable. Our girl DOES need a break.
