he’s so me
house md 2023 and the team has to treat a true crime podcaster. house starts a betting pool saying he can solve the patients case AND the cold case the podcaster was recording before falling ill. cameron questions the morality of making entertainment out of other people's suffering. wilson bets against house. chase tells foreman and cameron that they should start their own podcast about their weekly cases
with access to the 2022 tumblr vernacular, he'd be unstoppable

okay but "the symbolism is Real and Trying to Kill You" is my favorite kind of symbolism
like yeah the monster is a representation of your unresolved trauma and guilt and a manifestation of the sins of your past but it's also a real creature and it's going to fucking Get you
i think we should have a custom blog theme renaissance
and i don't just mean making more of them, i also mean appreciation of them and making them a central part of tumblr's site culture again. no other popular social media site (although tumblr technically is a microblogging site) really offers this level of aesthetic and functional customization anymore. it's maybe a header, a bio, and an icon.
i remember when putting a lot of effort into themes, mutual theme "ratings", complimenting users on their pages, proudly announcing theme changes/customizations, and appreciating theme makers for their work was a norm on this site. it's how many young people got into html.
i know many people are primarily mobile users but when on desktop... who cares if tumblr makes it a little difficult to get directly to someone's blog page these days. i think themes are a really excellent part of tumblr and i don't want them quietly guttering out.
4000 reblogs and no ones actually given any advice on how to use custom themes bc staff sure isnt making it readily available
step one: go into your account settings and scroll down to select the blog of your choice. the third option down should be custom theme, enable that.
now click edit theme. here is where the magic happens
you can edit this default theme if you like, its not bad. but the real fun is in making your own or (more likely) hunting down something someone else made.
a good place to start would be tumblrs /themes page (yes its silly the paid ones are so expensive but theres plenty of free ones too). you can also go searching through specific tags, some common ones are #tumblr theme(s) , #theme hunter , #code hunter , #code cabin, and looking in the tags of whatevers in there can lead you to more. theres also TONS of blogs dedicated to themes you will likely find in those tags too.
as for how to install a custom theme, if you picked on from the official page i believe its just a menu to pick which blog to apply it to. for everything else, the creator will typically link to a pastebin or similar site with the raw code. copy it, then go back to the editor. at the top left, under the theme name, click "edit html". right click over the text and select all. delete it, and paste in the new code. click "update preview" and everything should look different
(theme used)
congrats! you have a new theme to play with! from here you can edit the code directly or hit the back arrow to edit whatever settings the coder put into the sidebar. i recommend saving every so often with your blog open in another tab to check how its looking because the editors preview tends to squish things
keep in mind though, older themes are more prone to breaking due to changes over the years. i know one in particular is themes that still have http:// urls wont work, and the way to fix it is to go into the html editor, click the gear at the top and use find and replace to change "http://" to "https://" (no quotes).
have fun dipping your toes into the wide world of old internet webpages!

western cat twitters are like “HoOman” and japanese cat twitters are like “Today I will consider the state of things.”
you forgot russian cat tumblr
Russian cats are right in the middle of the two
actually japanese cat twitters sound verbose to us because the translation loses a detail: it’s all written in katakana, which is considered childish or illiterate!
so japanese cats are really saying “today i wiww conshidah the state of fings ^owo^”
Also the only reason the Russian sounds semi childish is because of the lack of definite or indefinite articles (the, a/an), which Russian just doesn’t have in its language anyway
The corrected translation with English grammar would be “I am a wave” which is neither childish or verbose its just factual and simple
the thing that gets me about about barbie is that barbie land wasn’t even purposefully a matriarchy, barbie land came about because of the way little girls were playing with their barbies, it wasn’t created by mattel it was created by the people using the toys, so the fact that the barbies ignored the ken’s and had girls night every night wasn’t because they had some bias against him, it was just an accurate depiction of how kids play with barbies. I had some ken dolls as a child and they were essential to the plot in the sense that of course my barbie has a boyfriend because that represented the world i saw around me, but also he didn’t have any purpose in my dream world because i was only interested in what the girls were doing because they represented me and how i wanted to be, I wanted girls night every night I wanted the girls to be president and austronauts and not because of some inherent feminist idea but because I was a girl and I wasn’t thinking about boys, ken was an accessory. this movie wasn’t made to change the world but it showed a different perspective than what we usually see which I thought was fun. Men don’t have to be the centre of all our stories and its not even because we hate them, sometimes we’re just not thinking about them
The two times i loved you the most in a car thursday
you understand.
