the us air force confirmed that the protestor who self immolated outside the israeli embassy in dc today was an active duty airman (article contains a photograph of the protestor on fire, please proceed with caution.)
the 25 year old USAF member who self immolated was named aaron bushnell. independent reporter talia jane received permission from his family to post his filmed self immolation (graphic content is blurred but this is what he filmed in full. i cant watch it past the beginning statements but he does confirm here that his actions were to protest the genocide in gaza and us complicity.)
Transcript of the video linked in the second part of this post. Please be aware if watching that it is incredibly graphic and while blurred the audio is still very clear, and towards the end of the video there are parts that are not entirely blurred.
TRANSCRIPT:
"My name is Aaron Bushnell. I am an active duty member of the united states airforce, and I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I'm about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it's not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal."
There is a section of the video where Aaron does not speak, just filming himself walking, setting up his phone, and pouring presumably an accelerant on himself. Aaron proclaims "free Palestine" before lighting himself on fire, and continues to repeat it several times before he collapses. There are various police officers at the scene, telling him to get on the ground, pointing guns at him, eventually asking for fire extinguishers and spraying him with them to put the fire out. If you watch this video please note that towards the end there is a section where it is no longer blurred and you can see parts of Bushnell's body as he lies on the ground on fire.

Graphic design and special projects by Eric Haze.
Been seeing Haze post some old projects he has done over the years so I figured I would compile some cool ones. Haze is a multitalented graphic artist whose career has spanned decades having done graphics for rappers and groups such as LL Cool J, EPMD, Tommy Boy, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Tone Loc, and many more throughout the 80’s and 90’s. Haze has also done a number of cool special projects like the Nike SB Dunks from 2003, a custom Scion TC, and Honda motorcycle livery both in 2006. I wonder where those vehicles are today.. 🤔

Edo period women obi knots, fantastic reference chart by Edo lover Nadeshico Rin.
You can see here several obi musubi favored by city women, of all class and status. Novelty knots were a fashion statement, often lauched by star onnagata kabuki actors, and spread by iki fashionistas such as geisha.
For top to bottom, left to right, you can see here:
Chidori musubi (plover knot) ちどり結び
Shôryû musubi (little dragon knot) 小龍結び
Kichiya musubi (Kichiya knot) 吉弥 結び - named after onnagata actor Uemura Kichiya I in Genroku period, who single handedly launched a new type of knots and obi fashion
Koman musubi (Koman knot) 小万結び - named after a kabuki character in play Yakko no Koman
Nagoya obi (Nagoya belt) 名古屋帯 - Azuchi Momoyama/Early Edo era silk kumihimo tied in butterfly knot

Karuta musubi (card knot) カルタ結び - created in early Edo period, looking like 3 playing cards side by side
