forgot to say I saw an English tourist ranting about the welsh language the other day in the flesh.

my friend who is also my trainee manager was called over to speak to a customer who had a complaint. she asked him what the problem was and he was ranting about how the self service machine had welsh on it and how "nobody even speaks welsh". no joke, this guy with a very English accent was furious and putting in a complaint about the welsh language on the self service. she simply told him she spoke welsh, in fact a few of her staff speak fluent welsh. he stuttered and kind of backtracked by saying "but there's not even English on there!!!!"

so she pointed directly underneath the welsh to the english translation on the screen and said actually sir yes there is, it's right there underneath the welsh version.

unable to admit he was wrong, he still ranted at her insisting we shouldn't have welsh here and it was completely ridiculous. she simply stared at him and said "sir, you're in wales" and walked away.

I couldn't believe it. I was like good grief these people are actually REAL? they're not just writing thinkpieces for the daily mail? this is crazy
