cannot stop thinking about how good the fabrication of consent in squid game was… like yeah, the participants consent! over and over, from agreeing to the slapping game to ringing up the number of their own accord to meeting at the location to signing a separate sheet once more upon arrival… they can even disband the game if the majority decrees it. but this is all performative. because of course they’ll agree - of course they’ll come back.
the second episode is even all about addressing this ‘consent’, and that potential audience superiority: “so why don’t they just leave???? if they can??? why did they even do all this to start with?? it’s so extreme, to do all that just for money, i would never”
because, the show says, look at what they’re returning to. look at the life that’s offered as their alternative. debt up to their ears, money-brokers beating them up, poverty at its worst. do you see? do you see how yeah, joining that game is optional, but it’s optional in the sense of choosing to be stabbed or shot: theres consent, but not actual desire. that theres agreement, but under exploitation. there’s a reason only poor people are chosen to compete and it’s so obvious but i fucking love how the show handles it and addresses any audience superiority anyway
When will y'all start having this conversation about prostitution too? Y'all believe these vulnerable women choose to do it? Y'all truly believe that sex by coercion is not rape? Y'all think that consent can be bought?
love how op removed this response from the notes lol
Op is weak hypocrite lmao
“…theres consent, but not actual desire. theres agreement, but under exploitation…”
OP I’ve never read a more concise yet nuanced analysis of prostitution…oh wait..

Men's issues are often understood to be environmental: their mental issues and predatory or destructive behaviours stem from loneliness, poverty, not getting sex, being divorced, feeling humiliated, being abused as a kid, discrimination, owing money, playing video games, addiction, a nagging wife, ptsd from war, feeling emasculated, indoctrination, an overbearing mother, an absent father, whatever it is it's motivated by external factors.
But women are told that they are the problem, their personality is disordered, it's all in their heads, they need to change, to fit the mold, often times that mold is simply femininity and numbness.
There is a general impression, in the medical field, that women and girls can't be trusted to know what they think or how they feel. They are exaggerating, lying, manipulating, attention seeking, irrational, snakes who deserve to be punished for annoying the staff with their fake problems.
People have a low tolerance for women expressing emotions, especially anger, irritability, stubbornness, dissatisfaction or simply being loud, as well as a lack of interest in attracting men.
To keep women under control they pathologise everything we do therefore justifying unnecessary drug use, mostly sedatives. And of course, when women and girls aren't considered people, as is often the case in patriarchal institutions, then they aren't considered as deserving of agency or dignity.
But men and boys are people, they can express their emotions; aggressivity, anger, yelling, irritability, violence are considered normal male traits, so they are tolerated, justified and even expected. Men's problems are real, they are not attention seeking bitches, and they are human beings deserving of respect.
This is all despite the fact that most of the patients who attack medical staff are men.
online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.
and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.
there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.
i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.
it pisses me off so much that rape victims and people who know rape victims are dismissed from being on rape juries bc of "bias" but so many judges are rapists themselves and look at cases and think "well if this is rape, then im a rapist too" and then rule in the rapists favor its so fucked up like really and truly all judges on rape cases should be female and also should be trained specifically for it
dismissing rape victims and their loved ones from juries is actually fucking evil when you realize how much of the population (and what demographic) they generally represent. at that point you're actively selecting for rapists.

Why isn't violence against women considered a hate crime? r/fourthwavewomen
I genuinely am glad I became a radfem but I’m ngl…sometimes it becomes so overwhelming that I wish I could go back to being a blissfully unaware libfem normie that believed things like “trans people just wanna live their lives, they would never hurt anyone uwu” or “who cares if some women like being hyperfeminine???” or “How dare you say there’s no such thing as 90 million genders 😡”
yeaaa it's a common sentiment. I think dworkin has a quote about that.
I feel like a lot of liberals, especially the younger generation, don't really have any core beliefs other than "let everyone do as they please!" they're radical individualists. If something makes me happy, then it's good. If something makes them happy, then it's good because who am i to get in the way of someone else's happiness and freedom. No structural analysis. No attachment to anything other than individual personal fulfilment. Very spineless imo and antithetical to socialism and feminism.
men dont seem to understand how damaging rape actually is. it is your undoing- it destroys you in every way imaginable. you dont feel like yourself anymore- meaning you dont actually know who you are. you dont feel safe anymore- meaning every interaction is overanalysed to understand if he will be your future rapist. you dont know how to exist anymore- knowing hes gotten away with it, that he exists and you are stuck with unwanted emotions and a big wall in the way of your life continuing. it is torture, from the actual event to the end of your life, to know this happened and that happened and that justice will never be served and that he'll probably go do it again to some other girl and you cannot save her. you cannot save yourself. he is the oppressor and you are oppressed and you felt that so explicitly.
how is it that "why didn't you fight back?" is commonly said to abuse victims but when a victim DOES fight back everyone doubts their abuse happened because they could be the "real abuser" or it's "mutual abuse". like you literally can't win
the world doesnt make men feel beautiful and make women feel ugly. it makes women feel they literally exist for men’s use. that is why redefining beauty is idiotic. why are we trying to expand the parameters in which you can exist in to be deemed fuckable by men when the problem is this tyrannical idea in the first place
@ terfs and radfems who are pro-gender abolition but don’t believe in nonbinary people, why?
‘Nonbinary’ is supposed to be a set of gender identities, which requires the concept of gender to continue and to be believed innate. Obviously they can’t exist if gender doesn’t.
“it’s not cis people’s place to talk about gender” why not though? according to gender ideology cis people have a gender as well, we are just ok with what we were “assigned” at birth. a cis woman has a gender otherwise she wouldn’t be a woman right? so what makes you more qualified than me to speak about gender and what gives you the right to talk over me about it when we both apparently have one?
LMFAOO JK!!!
