they make a big deal about anita being an EGOT winner, but don't really. seem to know what to do with that?
there are only 28 people who have won EGOTs, among them the likes of whoopi goldberg, jennifer hudson, and viola davis. we're supposed to believe someone with viola davis level accolades is going to a public hospital and being accosted by leslie thomas construction noise? even if we think of the person she is most obviously modeled after—diana ross—she is clearly not treated like diana ross within the show, aside from some people fangirling a bit when they see her.
with the way they write anita, i think it would've made more sense for her to be a non-prime time actress. maybe like susan lucci level of fame at the most—and she is very famous as basically the face of soap operas—but it's really eye-rolling for them to keep bringing up her awards and fame but then treat her like anyone else. she goes to a hospital for chemo and doesn't have a private medical team at home, huh??
