22 year old, Chicago local Stratus is a member of the Human Imprint family (a record label centered on dubstep artists). In the featured song he remixes She Will by Drake, bringing a considerably EDM feel to a rap song. This is an uncommon move in celebrated tracks, but here Stratus is so successful I don't think we have a choice but to jam along with him. What do you think, Tumblrites?
It's been seven weeks since my last rave affair. I thought I had a better handle on my obsession, but I am in sore withdrawl! I am gearing up for Parisan Duo Autoerotique next week though, and couldn't be happier! Time to plan my outfit!
Doesn't this sound like it was produced this way? I can't listen to Feed The Dada anymore because the drop doesn't rock as hard as this mash up does! Go Sander Van Doorn, and Dada Life - this collab should happen! What do you think, tumblr?
Firstly, Example is an unconventional EDM choice. Elliot John Gleave, the initials of which sparked his stage name, is a thirty years old born in Fulham, England. He started producing songs as early as 2006, but didn't make any UK chart appearances until 2009. Further success mounted through to 2011 when he released "Changed The Way You Kissed Me" off his third album "Playing In The Shadows" which went platinum in Europe and Australia. Last month he released his fourth album, "The Evolution of Man", alongside success with writing "Chasing the Sun" for "The Wanted", and releasing first single "Say Nothing".
As a Singer and Rapper, Example has garnered success worldwide, but what I like more is Example as a vocalist on EDM tracks. The only way this happens is when his songs get remixed - which they often are. The track I have chosen to write about today is Jakob Liedholm's remix of "Close Enemies" of "The Evolution of Man".
Jakob Liedholm is a sixteen year old Swede who has already been producing for a year and a half. Already a prolific artist, he has a big career ahead of him. Check out more of his tracks on his blog (http://jakobliedholm.com/discography/). His sound is very progressive house, and when mixed with Examples vocal, it's a recipe for a banger! Liedholm's influence takes this song from a radio ready sing along to a jammable, danceable, club track which compels even the surliest of men to try out their "moves". Unfortunately for Example, Leidholm's remix is the only thing which attracts me to listening to his song at all! - and all his other remixed songs too.. SORRY EXAMPLE!
Amazing piano mashup of Zedd's recent album "Clarity". If this doesn't prove that EDM is musical in its roots then I don't know what else to say. Haters gonna hate?
Tracklist: Shave It Up (0:00-0:29) Clarity (0:30-1:38) Codec (1:39-1:54) Stache (1:55-2:08) Hourglass (2:09-3:02) Epos (3:09-3:33) Fall into the Sky (3:34-4:05) Lost at Sea (4:06-4:39) Follow You Down (4:40-5:06) Spectrum (5:07-end)
"Hope is the biggest lie, and it is the best. We must keep going as if it all mattered, or else we wouldn't keep going at all." - CREEPIEST AND BEST LITTLE GIRL EVER!
Needless to say, I am obsessed with this song. I have been listening to it continually over the last year and it never gets old or boring. Not many people are fans of mash ups, but I think this one would change all of their minds! It's just right!
Mash ups are just like multi-tasking anyway... they should get over it :P
Just a Vicetone banger to motivate you to go for a run, to shake that Holiday weight! Enjoy!
It's the Justin Beiber of EDM ladies and gentlemen! This up and comer is ranked 1847 in the world, but in the last four years has changed from star-struck Madrid local, to the next protege of the European Circuit. Last year he was the youngest DJ resident on Ibiza! The next year has concert performances confirmed along side Fedde le Grand and Martin Solveig and festival appearances internationally (including Brrrr! Winter Music Festival in Toronto!!). If his EDM ascendency was not already locked in, radio time has also been allotted increasingly for the youngster. If this wasn't enough, he also ranks 12th worldwide in wakeboarding, 7th in Europe and 2nd in Spain! Fit, talented and easy on the eyes, Danny Avila is poised for a BIG career in electronic music.
As for the video I've posted, Breaking Your Fall exhibits classic progressive house bones: extensive introduction, break down, vocal on the rising action, and a distinctive drop - all in a high register. Towards the end of the drop there is a small amount of break beat experimentalism, something typically seen in dubstep. One should not mistake this combination as anything new, or unique to Danny Avila - the amount of break beat is extremely minimal, and is by no means exclusive to dub structures. Frankly there is nothing exceptionally different about this song. It follows regular progressive house structure, and has a regular sound. It does not fall behind by any means - the track places Danny Avila in the game solidly, but it also does not place him in the forerunners either. Avila still has a lot of time to put into his work before he finds his niche sound, and does something incredible with it. I like what I hear so far, but I'll definitely be waiting to see what he is producing a year or two down the line - I expect that to shake my ribcage, and absolutely nothing to break my fall for Danny Avila!
P.S. Did I mention he is 17?
Ooh DJ, ease my mind will you? Play that song again, Cause we were in love, Before, before the rain began And if I cry, I'll cover my ears.

Hardstyle is a subgenre of EDM founded in the Netherlands in the early millenium. If typically consists of a hard kick drum, inverted base, distortion, and a synth melody. Off shoots in the last ten years include rawstyle and dubstyle, featuring higher BPM, deeper synths, darker melodies in rawstyle and breakbeat tempos in dubstyle. Heavy hitters in this relatively new genre include Ran-D and Psyko Punkz, and this past year saw the year anniversary of Headhunterz radio show "Hard With Style".
Headhunterz is a dutch DJ, who launched his own sublabel called Subtraxx Reloaded in 2006, and "Hard With Style" in 2011. He got is big break when playing at hardstyle festival Defqon 1 by "The Prophet". Since he has played numerous festivals, produced their anthems, released numerous albums spurring a European tour. He was also the first Hardstyle DJ to make it onto djmag.com's top 100, placing 36th in 2010, 17 in 2011, and 11th this past year. He remains the first hardstyle DJ to make the list, and cotinues to be the most recognized among all ranked hardstyle DJ's (D-Block & S-te-phan, Noisecontrollers and Showtek)
The video I chose to share with you guys is a Headhunterz remix of the classic "Lessons in love" by Kaskade. This is exemplify the kick I was talking about, and synth melody. I know hardstyle is not for everyone, but give it a listen. If you've ever been into metal, you could be in for a treat!
Not the newest song, but it speaks for itself and has a huge play count on my computer. #BANGER
The tricky thing about this track is that there is no proof that this is a Deadmau5 remix or not. I've done some searching, and Deamau5 usually says something before a release, but there is nothing. So either this is Deadmau5 or some hitch-hiker who isn't doing that bad of a job! - but i'm thinking the latter. This track is much toned down from the original and a perfect study track for those long library sessions, however much it pains me to give credit to a name-jacker... Hope this keeps you pushing through finals week! Happy studying Tumblr :)
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.
Thank you Friedrich Nietchze for making me feel united when jamming on the dance floor alone. I am at a point in my adventure into EDM where I don't care if I look crazy to peers, tumblr, my family - EDM makes me happy and I am not about to subordinate the bass to social norms.
I'm having fun - are you?
Little known banger from Dyro and Jacob Van Hage. I know I have been exploiting the plethora of trance and light house music out there, so I thought it was high time I kick back with a little more bass in my life. This one has a heavy kick, and although progressive in arrangement, it does pack a bigger punch than what I have been posting recently. I'm into it.
Dyro also.. is a MAJOR hottie. He released his first EP on Hardwell's label just last december (a year ago). 20 year old Holland native is now featured in sets from Sander Van Doorn, Dada Life, Afrojack and other heavy hitters across the globe. He also hit # 4 on the DMC Miami Buzz Chart for his song "Raid", which is known in the industry wide as the marker of the up and comers. Although fresh to the scene, Dyro has accomplished much in his first year. Much like the anticipation American's felt for Obama's first hundred days, I sit here in awe of his accomplishments and cannot wait to see more. So much in so little time, it's almost unheard of!
Another banger by the ever consistant, EDM lady god - Nadia Ali! Partnering with Alez Sayz, and remixed by Le Que and Martin Volt this song is racking up the play count in my iTunes. Snatch this one up ladies and gents!
