I am SO SORRY for just abandoning you guys. I've missed you so much.
Unfortunately for my Tumblr presence, life has thrown me for a bit of a loop, and so I'm not sure if and when I will be back. It's mostly good things!! My new job has been amazing and my move went great. I just don't have much time or decent wifi anymore.
Y'all have been more than I could ever ask for. Thank you a million times over for all the support!! I love you.
My Favorite Crime-Solving Shows and Why You Should Watch Them
Everyone loves a good murder, right? Here are my favorite shows about cold-blooded killing, along with descriptions and reasons to watch them.
If you have any to add, reblog this with your own collection!! <3 I don’t watch a lot of TV, so I’m always looking for what I’ve missed.
#1: Monk
Starting off with my #1 pick, Monk!!
Tony Shalhoub plays a Holmes-style detective with OCD and severe anxiety who was booted from the San Francisco homicide division after his wife died and he had a breakdown. THIS IS THE BEST SHOW I’VE EVER WATCHED, I KID YOU NOT. The acting is great, the stories are always engaging, and it has some of the most smooth yet dramatic character development I’ve seen. Not only is it about this one detective, but it’s also about his friends, whom he loves dearly.
Each one of the murders is engaging and interesting and sometimes a bit creepy, of course, but the real draw is the characters and Monk’s storyline. This show shows an affectionate bromance (with no real romance, just bros loving on each other, which isn’t common enough), and healthy relationships with two female assistants, also without romance involved. Other than overcoming your fears, one of the show’s major themes is understanding what love means.
Also, the finale is absolutely perfect, and will leave you sobbing.

#2: Murder, She Wrote
Who doesn’t love 80s content??
Murder, She Wrote follows Jessica Fletcher, played by Angela Lansbury, who decides after her husband’s death to write murder mysteries. Because of the knowledge she has amassed while writing her books, she becomes very good at solving real-life murders.
This show is very amusing because all of the characters except her are at least a little morally corrupt. Her friends and family members are lots of fun, and there is a running storyline of her “romance” with an MI5 agent that is very entertaining.
The content of the show is overall very wholesome, and it gets even better over time. The later seasons are a bit redundant, but it’s still a masterpiece and a great show to watch when you want to relax, or on a sick day.
Where to watch: Peacock
#3: Columbo
Columbo is a frumpy-looking genius homicide detective who deals with some of the most elaborate pre-meditated murders on television.
His character is extremely endearing, but it’s great for people who prefer less character storylines and more about murder — you rarely see Detective Columbo’s personal life get too entangled in a case.
The episodes are much longer and less action-packed than a lot of the newer law enforcement TV, so be prepared to bring out the popcorn and find a comfy seat. It’s worth it.
Where to watch: Peacock
#4: NCIS
A lot of us know NCIS. It’s still on air today, I believe in its 19th season?
NCIS follows a group of Navy cops who solve murders. These murders are often a little more gruesome than the other shows I have listed (death by torture is not uncommon on the show), but it’s never unpalatable.
NCIS does a really good job of blending character stories with the crime-solving itself, so you know a lot about the characters’ personal lives as well as their job. So, it hardly ever gets boring. Plus, it’s much more fast-paced than anything else on this list.
Where to watch: Netflix / on live TV
#5: Death in Paradise
I’ll be honest here, I’ve only seen the first ten episodes of this one. But I already adore it.
Death In Paradise takes place in Saint Marie, and follows their local police force as they solve murders. The catch? They’re plagued with British detectives who pop in.
This show has quality writing and characters that you absolutely fall in love with. It plays at the border of cliches, but never actually uses them. It has a habit of doing what you least expect, including when it comes to the murders themselves.
Obviously, the scenes are beautiful (come on, it’s the Caribbean), and it’s never not entertaining.
Where to watch: Britbox
#6: Psych
Completing the list is Psych, a show about a genius son of a cop who pretends to be psychic.
Shawn Spencer grew up with a rough-around-the-edges father who drilled the power of acute observation into his head at a young age. Later, as an adult, he picks up many key details just from news coverage of crimes, and reports them. This leads the police to believe that he is somehow involved, and, in order to avoid suspicion (and because they won’t believe he’s just observant), he claims he is psychic.
The show is definitely more about the humor than anything else, and half of the content is watching Shawn try to cover up how he really discovers information.
Where to watch: Amazon Prime
Let me know what y’all think, and if you’re planning on watching any of these shows now!!
tos fans will be like "oh yeah my favorite episode is 'god is dead and we have killed him'" and then you go and watch it and it's got the goofiest makeup you've ever seen, a cardboard spaceship that looks like it was designed by a high school set construction crew on a major time crunch, jim kirk is shirtless the whole time,
