Dance With Us is an event created to celebrate the musical The Prom and all its amazing fans.

Prompt List!

Day 1 (December 4th): Character Appreciation - show some love for your favorite characters!

Day 2 (December 5th): Relationships - platonic, romantic, and familiar relationships are all welcome here! think outside the box and save any greenelan content for day 5

Day 3 (December 6th): Favorite scene - show us the scene that gives you the most feelings, good or bad. fan fic writers will have to get a little bit creative, maybe with a rewrite of a scene from a character’s perspective, or a little analysis.

Day 4 (December 7th): Atlanta - show some love for anything that didn’t make to to opening night on broadway! cut scenes, songs, characterization, props, anything works!

Day 5 (December 8th): Greenelan - keep your greenelan content out of relationship day because they get a day all to themselves !

Day 6 (December 9th): AU Day - revive an old au or come up with a new one!

Day 7 (December 10th): Free Day! - self explanatory

As the movie has officially come out today, dance with us week is over. I hope you all had as much fun as I did! it was amazing to see all of the content being created and to create some of my own. Feel free to continue posting any late stuff for next week or so, I’ll be keeping an eye on this blog and the ao3 collection until then. 

You might be noticing that this blog is a little bare, thats because most of the wonderful participants were posting their material on ao3! be sure to check out the collection or just the prom tag (which actually passed 600 fics yesterday!)

Hello, Youtube! Okay, well, my name is Emma Nolan, and I’m a 17 year old girl, and I’m a lesbian, and recently, I wanted to take my girlfriend to the prom, but my school wouldn’t let me. In fact, they cancelled the prom, and when the courts told them they couldn’t do that, well what they did was they held a fake prom. Just for me. Which was just about the worst thing that could happen to a person.

So, I was feeling sorry for myself, but then I thought, “Hey, I can’t be the only person on earth who’s dealing with this crap,” so I wrote this song for all the people out there who just love someone in a way the rest of the world can’t understand. Here we go.

A few quick things before dance with us week starts:

fics: There is now an ao3 collection for you to post your fics in (shout out to @ninjaktx​ for creating it!) so if you post a fic on ao3 put it in the collection so that readers can easily find it! If you are choosing to post your fic on tumblr instead please make sure to add a read more for people on mobile.

tagging: remember to tag dance with us in any tumblr posts. Direct tagging (@dancewithus​) is preferred, but I will be watching the “dancewithus” and “dance with us 2020″ tags on tumblr to the best of my abilities. If you think your post has fallen through the cracks and didn’t get reblogged dm me and I’ll do my best to resolve the issue/explain why it was not reblogged.
