Not all toxic people are cruel and uncaring. Some of them love us dearly. Many of them have good intentions. Most are toxic to our being simply because their needs and way of existing in the world force us to compromise ourselves and our happiness. They aren’t inherently bad people, but they aren’t the right people for us. And as hard as it is, we have to let them go. Life is hard enough without being around people who bring you down, and as much as you care, you can’t destroy yourself for the sake of someone else. You have to make your wellbeing a priority. Whether that means breaking up with someone you care about, loving a family member from a distance, letting go of a friend, or removing yourself from a situation that feels painful — you have every right to leave and create a safer space for yourself.
Daniell Koepke (via wordsnquotes)
I’m looking for selfishness. Perfect selfishness. Like, say I tell you I want to eat strawberry shortcake. And you stop everything you’re doing and run out and buy it for me. And you come back out of breath and get down on your knees and hold this strawberry shortcake out to me. And I say I don’t want it anymore and throw it out the window. That’s what I’m looking for.

I’m so busy being strong I forgot I could be fragile.

Some people think to be strong is to never feel pain. In reality, it’s the strongest people who feel it, understand it, and accept it.

I am lonely, yet not everybody will do. I don’t know why, some people fill the gaps but other people emphasize my loneliness.

You’ve felt it, haven’t you? Those feelings that seem to get so big in your chest, like something is so beautiful it aches?

Can’t wait for the day that somebody tells me I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to them and they mean it.

I demand unconditional love and complete freedom. That is why I am terrible.
Tomaz Salamun (via thequotejournals)
I am coming to terms with the fact that loving someone requires a leap of faith, and that a soft landing is never guaranteed.
Sarah Dessen, This Lullaby (via wordsnquotes)
Learn all you can from the mistakes of others. You won’t have time to make them all yourself.
Alfred Sheinwold (via wordsnquotes)
I am overflowing with words I do not have.

If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.
