Chapters: 1/26 Fandom: 莲花楼 | Mysterious Lotus Casebook (TV) Rating: Mature Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Di Feisheng/Li Lianhua | Li Xiangyi, Di Feisheng/Fang Duobing/Li Lianhua | Li Xiangyi Characters: Di Feisheng, Li Lianhua | Li Xiangyi, Fang Duobing, Huli Jing (Mysterious Lotus Casebook), Wu Yan (Mysterious Lotus Casebook) Additional Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Post-Canon, Slow Burn, difanghua pre-slash, Li Lianhua | Li Xiangyi Lives, Grief/Mourning, Suicidal Thoughts, Nightmares, Flashbacks, Panic Attacks, Disability, Dissociation, Kissing, Sharing a Bed, Medical Procedures, Past Rape/Non-con, Past Child Abuse Summary:
Xiangyi's pulse beat steadily in his sleep. He was alright, for the moment. Well, Di Feisheng thought, as he prepared to fling more qi to shore up the seal over his Baihui acupoint and braced for agonizing pain that would have him wishing he knew how to scream from it, that makes one of us.
Finding Li Lianhua and restarting his silent heart after months of searching was the easy part. Convincing him to let them heal his shattered meridians would be tricky. Piecing together the secrets they’re all hiding, and healing their fractured trust before they destroy themselves? A challenge the last three months had made almost impossible. Almost.
Read it here on AO3!
(It's here! After 3 years!! Finally!)
P.S. I also wrote and linked to a summary of the show in case someone whose not in the fandom wants to read it and understand what's going on. :D
Guys maybe someday I'll finish and post fanfiction again. That was a fun time. When I was doing that.
Do you recognize this TV theme song? #764
I know this and can name the series
I know this but can't name the series
I might know this
I've never heard this
yeah I can't believe we're just now getting to this one either
it's wild that popular discourse around migraines is that there are too many people who claim to have migraines but "just have bad headaches". this is the exact opposite of my experience? i'm still trying to convince several of my friends that their "bad tension headaches" that are unilateral, throbbing, cause light sensitivity, nausea, etc, are migraines lmao. migraine is underdiagnosed and undertreated by every metric i can think of.
this narrative is not harmless! it prevents people from getting treatment that could really benefit them. so i would like it to die. thank you.
As a guy who went to see a neurologist only to "rule out migraines" because I thought I had "tension headaches at worst and also it's not that bad really" only to realize by tracking my headache days that I have very bad chronic migraines just with no aura (most people with migraines don't have them), I co-sign this 100%.
Just starting abortive medications already improved my quality of life so much and now that my doctor started me on preventatives, I might actually be able to have more than a handful of headache-free days each month.
Migraine is frequently misdiagnosed as chronic sinusitis or tension headaches according to research. Mostly because people have a very rigid (inaccurate) idea of what it actually is.
But even if it's not migraine, you still deserve treatment for your headaches. Just because someone else has them worse than you doesn't mean you don't deserve relief.
Learning about the different types of migraine and headache disorders can help you better understand your symptoms and discuss them with you
yeah i found out awhile back that the 'pressure headaches' that i get that 'aren't that bad' (but still leave me feeling sick and dysfunctional all day) were migraines. i now take a low dose of a preventative medication and the number of shitty rain days i have per month has dropped from like ten to two. it's great.
In my experience anyone who has chronic pain of any kind ALWAYS under diagnoses it in part cause people who DON'T have chronic pain always tell them how it's Not That Bad Just Get Over It and it takes a lot of fighting to get anyone (including doctors) to do anything about it. Fucked if I know why. Everyone seems to think we're making it up. I've never met anyone who is making it up.
Yes to all this, and also there is a type of migraine called Vestibular Migraine where the vertigo and nausea symptoms are equal to or stronger than the pain symptoms. Since the symptoms, triggers, and treatment are different from regular migraines, tons of people go a really long time without realizing they're getting migraines and not just horrible mysterious episodes of vertigo with wicked nausea and a side of spiky head pain. It wasn't until I ended up in the hospital for dehydration and starvation after a couple weeks of a constant VM that wouldn't let me keep down more than a couple sips of water and the occasional saltine that I realized I'd been getting VMs for years. If this sounds like you, please look into vestibular migraine, it could literally save your life. "If it was a migraine you would know" is an outright lie, don't listen to it.

Okay... so this is right up my alley. More weird whimsy and quirk in the romance genre... and more jaded suffer-no-fools women, instead of the creepy age-gaps, please and thank you
I WILL WATCH THE FUCK OUT OF THIS! Monster romance books prepared me for thiissss!

Cronological retrospective of my embroidery "back catalogue". Incomplete but fairly comprehensive. Just because I'm trying to get back into embroidery and thought it might be motivating to see the progression.

I’ve been cackling about this for like five minutes now

O-okay, let’s get into this, shall we?
*grumbling* Would you rather work for Lex Luthor or the Joker- *shouting* Lex Luthor, by like, a fucking mile!
Yes, yes, working for Lex Luthor is basically like being an Amazon employee that makes weapons of mass destruction, which is bad. Lex is like Donald Trump mixed with Mark Zuckerberg mixed with Jeffrey fucking Bezos, it’s not a great mix. He does not treat his henchmen well. Their lives still suck, and they are probably monitored on how long they take piss breaks for.
But let’s analyze what working for Lex Luthor is like versus the fucking Joker. With Lex you probably get a dental plan, a health plan, a paycheck, and the guy that you’re fighting really cares about human life. Superman will hit you just long enough to knock you out, so you’re not a treat, so he can stop the problem.
If you work for the Joker, your payment is you’re not fucking dead. You say one wrong thing? Bang. You don’t laugh at his jokes? Bang! You do laugh at his jokes? Bang! You think Joker gives a fuck about a henchman?
Who’s Lex Luthor’s right-hand-man? It’s a woman, you sexist, her name is Mercy, she’s awesome. Who’s Joker’s right-hand-man? Bob? Nah, he’s dead. Harley? Tried to kill her multiple times. Slappy? Who the fuck is Slappy?
The best case scenario of working for the Joker is that you fight the fucking Batman! And that presents its own fucking list of problems. If you stop Superman as a Lex Luthor henchman, Lex’ll be pissed, but he’ll be at least happy that Superman was caught. If you stop Batman as a Joker henchman, you better have a fucking coffin picked out yesterday.
This isn’t a fun hypothetical question, this is a screening technique that the doctors at Arkham use to determine your mental health! There is a right and a wrong answer to this question, and the correct one is Lex fucking Luthor. Thank you for coming to my fucking Ted Talk, have a nice day.

why is there an upgrade button on gmail. why does twitter want me to scan my palm to get into my account. why is google a chatbot. why does the transit app make a transit app wrapped for me. why does youtube keep shoving its infinitely scrollable shortform content down my throat. why do my doctor and psychiatrist and therapist want to use an ai notetaker during our appointments. why do free trials want my credit card number. why are most scholarship websites just data brokers. how do i make capitalone stop sending me mail. why is my school making its own special chat gpt powered chatbot. why is every third video on instagram an undisclosed ad. why is nothing online real anymore. why is everything so FUCKING STUPID
nickname poll
So currently I answer to my full first name (which I usually introduce myself with) as well as two nicknames/diminutives plus my last name when people mistake it for a first name. There are two or three other nicknames I've also gone by in the past. I'm perfectly fine with this, or neutral at minimum-- I have a common name and have had to be flexible with how I'm distinguished for my whole life. I also don't feel a deep and fundamental connection of my name with my identity, though I think going by another name entirely would confuse me.
A number of friends have been appalled at me being called names I don't say are my name. Which is really weird to me, although I'd go to battle for anyone else who was getting either deadnamed or called something they didn't want. But this perspective seems surprisingly common!
How do you feel about being called something other than the name you introduce yourself with?
I think it's fun if people give me (non-derogatory) nicknames or shorten my name
I don't care if people call me something else and will answer to it
I'm mildly uncomfortable or annoyed but won't make an issue of it
I HATE being called something else and will always correct people

Hello. Since I've seen people submit finished wheels, I thought I'd submit a wheel I came up with. In this case, it's a wheel to tell you something that you can't do for a week.
https://wheelofnames.com/kch-gkt
this is a really really cool idea! Thanks!!!
You can't do this for a week!
How bad is this for you?
Its great! I can live with this
I already don't do this
It'll be annoying but I'll be fine
VERY BAD.
