MAIN OVERVIEW

The main toons had been experimenting with ichor in order to improve themselves. However, something goes wrong and the mains start turning into their twisted forms. The mains get hit with the brunt of the casualties, which is why they’re more messed up than the other toons.

Astro uses his dream powers to bring his friends into a dreamscape he uses before they get out of control, but he’s only able to take their consciousnesses with him, not actually put their actual bodies out of commission

So they rampage, and chaos ensues as the twisted mains attack indiscriminately.

Astro tries his best to pull all the other toons into the dreamscape but he can’t bring everyone into the dreamscape fully aware.

And so these toons thrived in the dreamworld safe and content but also with no recollection to what happened in reality and are completely unaware that they're not in the real gardenview center. 

...Atleast everyones happy and content. right?

Hello everyone!

First and foremost, I apologize for the radio silence these past few months. I got another job and it has taken up most of my free time until recently, and I ended up having to focus on self care instead of most of my wips.

That isn't to say I've been neglecting Artificial Facade development entirely though... (some doodles of the dreamscape groups & toon concepts)

I've even made great progress on the height chart! Though I do have to redo some toons because my art style changed (T-T)

I'm hoping to resume posting ask art responses this month, and as I get back into the swing of things with work, life, and the blog, I hope to have a more consistent posting schedule again.

Thank you to everyone who has been with us so far, and thank you for your patience during these past few months.

I actually ended up finishing one of my many Artificial Facade animation work in progresses, so I'm going on ahead to post it here! Nothing super lore heavy unfortunately, but it was nice to draw the Mains (fairly) detailed.

OH BOY I GET TO SHOW OFF AND TALK ABOUT MY SHRIMPO STUFF YAYYYYYYYY :D

Shrimpo in this au is a little different from how he is in the canon!

AF!Shrimpo isn’t actively a bully. He act more like the “grumpy” archetype instead! This doesn’t mean he’s any nicer though…he’ll snap at any toon that bothers him. He doesn’t seem to be as loud as he was before entering the dreamscape, as he tends to get winded pretty easily.

He’s also a lot more tired, and has been stealing the beanbag chairs at the Boo-k Club to crash on. Because he tends to overhear Boo-k Club’s story discussions, despite the fact he refuses to be a part of the club, he’ll interject to be a hater about some parts of the books they read.

✨Brightney counts him as an unofficial member of the club. ✨

And a fun fact about Mr. Dandicus “Dandy” Dancifer!:

Aside from trying to recreate the toons with ichor, he likes to make little figurines of his friends made out of craft materials so he wouldn't be too lonely

So…you mentioned not everyone was able to get into the uh….dream realm (is that what it is called?), we can assume Scraps is one of those, alongside Dandy, but who are all the toons that didn’t get through?

Also, does Astro ever feel any form of Guilt for not getting able to save everyone?

Honestly, so far we've been using the canon that Astro was able to bring everyone, save for two toons (so far) that weren't in the area at the time, so they were never a cause for concern.

Scraps was actually one of the toons that was brought into the Dreamscape by Astro!

As for Astro's feelings on the whole thing...I don't think guilt is the right word for it. He didn't know the extent of the damage at the time, and his mind remains focused on one thing: keeping the toons content in the dreamscape, safe from the waking world.

However...

...I wouldn't say that notion exactly extends to himself.

Great questions @unknownuser3267!

Dandy isn't in the dreamscape! And he likely never will be.

Some toons are more susceptible to being aware of the waking world than others! Usually it's toons that are uncomfortable with the dreamscape for one reason or another. Other times it's because they notice a detail that doesn't make sense, and they end up trying to figure out why.

Think of it like lucid dreaming! When you dream and start taking noticing you're dreaming, you get to have more control over yourself. In the toons' case, since Astro is the one in control of the dreamscape, the most they can do is recall memories and sensations that don't match the environment.

Alternatively, a lot of the story relevant art we make for the AU is not in chronological order, so you might be seeing a case of "this is actually a scene from the past/present/future" as well haha ^^;

Thank you for enjoying the AU!!! And sending in your questions!! I love when people are curious about the little details when it comes to the AU, we're trying to line up all the lore so it can be understood but it's constantly developing and changing.
