My modern phone will not allow me to turn off system updates. By purchasing a new phone last year (regret) I have condemned myself to a sisyphean task of constantly searching for new and more insidious assaults on my privacy and data.

Like- Shocker. I know. But I refuse to stop being outraged just because tech companies want this to be normal. It's not! It's not normal!

I miss the days where operating system changes and updates came with drivers and things that YOU had to install, personally. I hate being harassed- I can't even make the simple choice to just stop updating my phone. I've gotten at least 5 FULL SCREEN push notifications before noon where all the buttons are traps. I found the spot in my phone that SHOULD let me have control over whether I get these notifications- the button exists. It's greyed out. In the phone that I own, it shows me that there SHOULD be an option there and then it disallows me the permission to control whether or not I see prompts for system updates.

My partners phone is ancient. They're on an ancient OS that's way outdated and guess what- the thing still works. The updates aren't necessary. At this point, I KNOW it's just trying to install more spyware on my already disease-ridden hellbrick.

I want to just replace the Os on my phone but I have no idea how. The fucking only thing I want it for is goddamn photos, discord, and making calls. I don't need all this I don't want all this, I'm at my goddamn breaking point
