“surprisingly to both of us, i think i can.” danny said softly as he looked at the other, his eyebrows rising up toward his hairline. he was both amused and intrigued by her approach, and it wasn’t like he was making any attempts to stop her. “sounds like a lot of gratitude to express for simply borrowing a book. doesn’t it?” his smile grew a little more and he looked down at her pointedly. “you’re asking me to break the sacred librarian code here.”

“Hey I’m born and raised in the South, ain’t no one gonna tell me that meat isn’t three parts of a solid meal. Hell, I could cut out the vegetables all together most of the time.” Daniel chuckled and scratched the back of his head, eyeing the other man with a grin. “Nah I’m not down for that shit. If I’m gonna blow my load then I want to do it. Simple.”

“Wanna take some shots in your natural habitat then? So you feel more comfortable posing in front of the camera?”

“I would say I’m a school staple. Sure, sometimes I feel like I hold this entire place together when some poor kid is having a breakdown but I’m no superhero.”

“I like the idea of that. As long as they’re not nude and require me to hold a book over my junk or anything...”

          “no, it’s none of your business,” calista hissed, pulling down the sleeve of her jacket, giving the man in front of her a nasty look. “now, if you don’t want to turn you into a rat, better leave me alone,” pulling out of his reach, she turned around and hurried off, without actually paying attention to where she was going. that’s why she almost fell down when she hit something, or better said, someone, a low groan escaping her lips. clearly, that wasn’t her day. “i’m sorry, i didn’t see you there,” she apologized, looking behind her quickly to see if that asshole was still following her, before giving the person she bumped into a small smile.

the problem with minding one’s business was that it definitely detracted from the attention one paid to the world around them. it was also probably why he’d also told himself again and again that he shouldn’t read while he walked. but, as with many occasions, he’d neglected his own advice. when the woman collided with him, he sharply looked up instantly, an apologetic expression already washing across his face. “no, i didn’t see you either. i’m real sorry. you alright?” he returned the smile and tucked the small book in to his back pocket. “somethin’ botherin’ ya?”

“So, today at work, I had a order that come in for a burger. Except it said no meat. I was like, damn, I’m reading this wrong, aren’t I? But no, the person legit wanted the bun, cheese, lettuce, and tomato? Why… why would you do that? Order a burger with no meat?  It’s not even a burger anymore. It just makes no damn sense.”

Daniel paused for a moment, trying to process what the other man had just explained. His eyebrows furrowed intensely, his head tilting ever so slightly to the side. “I blame the vegans. Or vegetarians. Whatever weird fad is new. Just can’t imagine ever not having meat as part of a meal. It’s like sex without the orgasm. Useless.”

Julio had been on his phone, calling back home, when he sighed suddenly.  “Look, Juan, just fucking tell Papi I called, and I swear to god if you ha-Fuck a duck!” he cursed loudly as his brother hung up on him.  He lowered the phone with his eyes glowing a golden color as he noticed the other there, letting out a sound between a gasp and a growl

“Fuck! you scared me!”

Daniel hadn’t meant to startle the poor guy but the reaction that he received was definitely a mildly amusing one. Also the term fuck a duck was certainly one that he’d have to implement more in to everyday life. When the younger man wheeled on him, Danny’s lips curved up in response to the growl. 

“Didn’t mean to. Promise. Maybe you should have upped your guard a little. Used those senses. That’s what they’re there for.”

“Okay, I’m going to spend at least twenty four hours, not in the library. Or, at least, that’s the goal. Anyone down to help me?”

“As a librarian I can’t even think why you’d want to do such a thing. I mean, sometimes I forget there even is a world beyond these stacks and laborious tasks of sorting things in to categories.”

“So, I’m thinking of doing a few different possibilities for our brochure. It’ll be at least three small shoots. I need both students and staff who would be willing to pose though. You in?”

“Sounds like a pretty good idea. It’s not exactly my area of expertise but I’m always willing to help and who would want to miss out on a slice of this librarian in a photo shoot? I mean I’m joking about the last bit but I’m happy to try and help.”

Marguerite knew what she was seeing, though she still felt shocked by the sight of the couple. They were hidden enough, but she’d caught their intimate moment and it made her both curious and blush deeply at the same time. Though she often came across that she couldn’t care for such things, truth be told, she was dying with curiosity. Realizing how long she’d been gawking, she turned away, quick to stumble into another on the sidewalk and she gasped with surprise, cheeks even more red with her embarrassment. “Shit, so sorry. So, so sorry. My bad. Totally my fault.”

Danny hadn’t caught the whole extent of Marguerite’s interest in the daring couple but his own curiosity definitely peaked when the much smaller werewolf collided with him. “Well yeah it is your fault but you shouldn’t be so tough on yourself.” He reassured her, taking a small step back to restore their personal space. “Why were you rushing so much? Should keep your eyes peeled more.”
