How can you be sure of what's to come, if you aren't willing to try?
I think it's time for another Disney adventure. All aboard and anchors away?
it's never goodbye, it's see ya real soon.
see ya real soon
September 1st, 2012. One month after my final program ended. Here marks the end of a journey of a lifetime. It was crazy to think that three years ago I was sending my first application to Kristen, hoping and waiting to hear back even if I just past the first stages of interviews. I'll never forget the nerves on the phone, asking if I could handle living abroad during hurricane season with girls from all over the world. I'll truly neverforget having to turn down the program in 2010 and waiting an entire year to make it back in. The scares I had trying to overcome my shady record card to let me back for another summer in 2012. The moments made in 2011 with the people I love and the nights of tears and fireworks make every second worth the pain of having to say goodbye that summer. Meeting my all-american roommates, the first night on the poly beach, making promises and vows for our summer, co-workers, dance parties, HOB nights, gush fests, falling in love, hammock nights, long days, thunder storms, grad night, cage parties and goodbyes. I knew everything in my power would bring me back in 2012. We made it, another year abroad and a crazy year at that. Finishing University with Disney always on my mind, I had one goal, and that was another summer with my love in Disney World. Yes, none of my friends were coming back and it would be totally different, but being there was the only path to happiness. We did it! What started off as a rocky summer quickly turned into living for the moments. It was completely opposite of 2011 with terrible roommates, bad schedules, crazy weather and interesting jobs but the moments outside of those were priceless. Making up for lost time and lost experiences, we did all we could to enjoy our last summer in Disney. and that I did.. I'm so thankful and grateful to have had the opportunity to work as a Canadian ICP for the past two years in Walt Disney World. The friends and family I made there will forever have a special place in my heart. I vow to always and forever be a vista girl, a magic kingdom cast member and a cheerleader for the ICP program. I will tell everyone until I die that this program is something you NEED to experience at least once in your lifetime. The blog will not end. Disney will always have a special place in my heart. What started as a normal fascination turned into my home, my life and my love. I can't wait to bring my kids to Disney World when I'm older and point out where mommy and [hopefully daddy] used to work. I'll update it as much as I see fit. For now, my life is taking me on another journey, across the country where the mountains are calling my name. My other blog will turn into my travel diary, leaving this as a lasting memento of my experiences to forever read again. And I will. Remember, it's never goodbye...it's see ya real soon. Forever and always, -Danielle G, Alumni Cast Member.
Does the face interview usually happen on a weekend, or do people have to miss school to go down to it?
The past three years it's been on a week day and usually around mid-terms in February. I've had to hand in assignments early, move presentation dates around and miss a mid-term exam day for mine. Professors have been very understanding though and I explain it to them the second I find out the day of the interview so that accommodations can be made. Good luck!

the magic, the memories
Aug 3rd was move out day. We got up nice and early, half because Mike was being so obnoxiously loud and half because we had tons of stuff to do. I went downstairs and got packed, returned our keys and IDs, took photos and lugged our stuff down the stairs. Said bye to Carter, the only roommates I enjoyed having and we went on our merry way. Grabbed a cab and headed to POP Century for the night. Our room was ready (score!) so we dropped off our stuff, and headed to Studios to get on all the classics before going to Animal for some last Everest and Dino and then to Magic Kingdom for a night of fun and Extra Magic Hours. We rode basically everything and watched one last Wishes before meeting up with Logan for a final goodnight. We hung out for a bit and just wandered MK at 1am, taking in the final sounds, sights and smells. It was sad, I couldn't help but cry all night long. Everything has a memory, everything brings up a thought. Magic Kingdom will forever be my home away from home. We went on top of the train station, took in Main Street one last time and bussed to the resort for the night. Aug 4th our flight left bright and early and our Magical Express was even earlier than that. Ive never taken it to the airport before, but they truly make you feel so sad with the video they play. Thank you for coming and we hope you had a magical time. I did, Mickey. I really did. We went to Orlando International and flew back to Buffalo where my family was going to pick us up. We spent the day shopping before crossing the border and arriving back in Canada-land. That's it. Our journey was over. It seemed rushed and quick and ended so fast.
I hope you had the time of your life...
Aug 1st started with a whole lot of packing. Almost all of it in fact. Packing your life back into two suitcases seems odly harder than packing it to go to begin with. The memories of your summer being put away and the good times being folded to go home and go back to reality. After that, I went to work for one last shift. It was a lot of people's last day so I didn't expect a great position at all for parade so I just tried to enjoy the hour of tasking at park greeter before heading to the meeting and trying so hard not to cry. I ended up getting Castle South 2 with Josh (I was happy). Except, Josh had a west side breakdown position with Crystal Palace Wishes and I had Liberty Bridge so he graciously let me switch. I got to pull stanchions and then went to Crystal with Eddie and Paige and a ton of other people leaving. We did out job and kept flow going but mostly watched MMY and Wishes, crying the entire time. A guest asked me if I was ok ahaha. At blue fairy we all RAN backstage and got into a line, watched the finale and bawled. Devin even got off work early and snuck up, hugging me the entire finale. It was so sad, and a true end to an amazing summer with Main Street Operations. It was an early night, only 1 parade, so Josh gave Devin and I a ride home. We ended up spending the rest of the night packing before I fell asleep at his house. July 2nd was GRAD DAY! Stupidly timed, but at least we got one. We grabbed our hats and spent the morning at EPCOT before having to mission home at 2pm to get ready for grad at 4. We got dressed up, dawned our grad hats and enjoyed our goodbye meal and photo and gifts before going to MK fairly quickly to spend the last night as ICPs. a TON of people were there, Main Street was FULL for Wishes with crying people in hats. It was nice. The park closed early that night, so we had the same thought as all the other 500+ grads, so wait around as long as possible and go to either the Polynesian or Contemporary to catch the bus. Devin and I opted for Poly cuz most people just walk to Contemp. However, the bus didn't show up for over an hour. It was really frustrating and all I wanted was to get home. Our bus was packed but at least we got a seat. I changed at my house, said bye to Amber who was leaving that night and went to Devins for one last sleep at Vista Way.
crop!
love, next to hook of course
