@daniluni
there are many things tumblr as a whole has to learn but one of them is “someone can reblog a post without them endorsing every action the op has ever taken, we are not beholden to do background checks on the producers of every shitpost on the internet”
I'm sure other people have noted this, but if Rashta were the main character, the Remarried Empress would be a horror story:
A woman who had been enslaved and abused gives birth to a baby. She's told the man who enslaved her murdered the child.
She runs away, but is caught in a trap. However, she is found by the emperor who seems to fall in love with her.
They go back to the palace, and while her life improves, it's not all sunshine and roses. She can never quite trust those around her. People even poison her. She feels the need to constantly defend herself.
The man who enslaved her comes to court and tells her that her son is alive. The man starts to blackmail her.
But she's pregnant! Surely she can trust the emperor, father of her child? Well, no, becaue he's planning to use her as an incubator and have his wife adopt her baby. Later on, this morphs into a plan to use Rashta to publicly humiliate Navier; have Rashta take on the role of empress, which he knows Rashta is not trained for; publicly humiliate Rashta on a national level so that everyone will demand Sovieshu divorce Rashta because she's not qualified for a role she had little training in; divorce Rashta to remarry Navier; and have Navier raise Rashta's kid as her own.
I know Rashta does a lot of horrible shit in misguided attempts to protect herself. But I have to say, the only people I really feel have a right to blame her are the maids she hurts (because they have no power) and Lebetti (because she's a child). Everyone else is an adult noble who participates in a system of slavery. They have no right to get angry at a formerly enslaved person who treats them far better than their system ever treated her.
Finally, after struggling and going mad because she has no one to trust, she lost custody of her daughter, she's in a cutthroat world, she's being manipulated into bad choies, she's expected to be perfect at a role she wasn't raised for, etc., she is arrested and locked up. She dies of suicide. Whereas Sovieshu, depressed and mad as he is, still gets to live in luxury.
Princess Rosalina & Princess Peach as ponies because I can
Rashta deserves more educated haters and stans.
Both of them do injustice to her character. Either they demonize her for simply breathing or infantalize her, taking away her flaws.
Rashta stans and antis while taking the grey and nuance out of her character:
Rashta did wrong and was done wrong. But she also genuinely wanted love, was groomed into her worldview and is far too complex
Y’know what? I really empathise with Rashta. She was a literal slave who saw an out of a hopeless situation and ran with it. People who don’t like her for being a home wrecker honestly have no morality. SHE WAS A SLAVE. FOR A CRIME SHE DIDNT COMMIT AS WELL. IT WAS HER DAMN DAD. And every single person in her life was using her, she really had no one to rely on.
I know quite a few people share this opinion, and then some of turn around and hate on Navier for not abolishing slavery. Like? That’s so stupid.
She was a childless empress who had been on the throne for three years. What time frame are you giving her to abolish slavery? It’s just not going to happen because she needs to secure her position with a child while also managing government affairs and creating allies.
It wasn’t like she was hateful towards Rashta either, she understood to a certain extent of her position and always tried to help.
People always blame Rashta and Navier for each other’s positions when neither were at fault.
And if I remember correctly, Navier abolished slavery later on in the novel. (Idk if that’s true, I read a machine translated version in like 2021, I could be misremembering). And I’m fairly certain it happen.
If you want someone to blame I nominate Sovieshu, the actual emperor and person with most power. Who, despite having a loving, powerful wife chose to bring an uneducated slave as a concubine because he was insecure.
Rashta did what she had to do to survive, and I’ll never blame her for that. Navier also had every right to be upset with her cheating husband, idc if it was a norm back then.
Alphatart should have given any other way for Rashta to not be a slave, instead of being the mistress

About Rashtas childishness... [TW: Mentions of CSA]
So another easy way the og story found a way to make Rashta easily hateable was by making her act extremely childish when it came to regulating her emotions especially. Wheras Navier almost never cries and when she does, she looks as graceful as the true Empress she is, Rashta easily cries even in public in a way that I would describe as "Ugly crying." Generally not being afraid to sob in front of multiple people to get what she wants according to the narrative.
Chapter 4 is the first chapter where we see Rashta and Sovieshus relationship first hand and obviously it was trying to make fun of old tropes like the sweet and innocent pauper being taken care of by a rich man. Comments don't really see how Sovieshu is clearly more gross by calling her his prey and simply revert back to "I want Trashta dead, she be mean to our beloved empress" because Rashta was actively taking part in the relationship (I've already made countless counter arguments explaining why Rashta can't say no to an emperor before, you can check those out on my archive)
Now, I doubt the writers thought of this and if they did, that the audience sure as hell couldn't see it but I always believed Rashta was age regressing as a coping mechanism considering her childhood had been ripped away from her and she was now put in a place that more than enough money to make any little girls old princess fantasies come true.
A similar character that was written like this wonderfully would be Nurse Bendy from Moral Orel. Like Rashta, Nurse Bendy is a mistress to a married man [who is her boss, mind you] who refuses to take proper accountability for his lustful actions aside from feeling sorry for himself and she is generally regarded as a sexy ditz by most of the other characters, especially the men, but in the well known episode that got Moral Orel cancelled titled "Alone" it was revealed that in private, Nurse Bendy age regresses as a small child, her apartment is decorated like a little girls bedroom, she has a set of teddy bears that play the role of a pretend husband and a pretend son, titled as Hubby and Sonny, and she generally speaks in child-like mannerisms, the context clues in the episode paint a story of why Nurse Bendy age regresses, she changes out her work uniform and into something more comfortable in the bathroom with the door almost entirely shut, an emotional speech about her wanting other people to see her as human with feelings and thoughts while she's saying grace at dinner with her pretend family, and of course, her mental breakdown when hubby falls on top of her in a suggestive way when she's cleaning up spilled food, combined with dialog of her crying "You can't! You can't! You can't! Not you, you're different!" The episode doesn't have to tell you that Nurse Bendy was a victim of CSA who gave birth when she was still a child herself and now age regresses into a time where she was still happy as a coping mechanism.
When I noticed the similarities between Rashta and Nurse Bendy, it actually surprised me. While one hand, you might think that one difference they have is how they react to the men who want their bodies. Nurse Bendy is portrayed as not being all that interested in and even annoyed by the men wanting to get in her pants, wheras Rashta is desperate to keep the men in her life around by means necessary and is eager to please them but the reason I still think this makes them similar is because while their reactions are polar opposites, their reasoning for consenting to their lifestyles is similar, they both internalized that they are only good for "taking the stress off the men" and as a result, decide to reluctantly embrace that role being thrust upon them.
Rashta starts out with a similar backstory as Nurse Bendy. She too had her childhood stolen away from her starting when she became a slave and while we don't know exactly when Alan started grooming Rashta, it had to have been long enough that she believed Alan truly loved her thanks to a flashback of Alan gifting Rashta a flower that takes place before her first pregnancy. TRE also never gave Rashta a clear age but based on the confirmation that she is younger than Sovieshu and Navier, who are both 25-26, and the fact that Rashta generally is designed to look much younger compared to everyone else based on her face shape and eye type that is only ever seen in other characters like Evalie and Delice, the former being 16 and while the latter doesn't have a confirmed age, her naive outlook on life can lead us to assume she is 18-19 years old, so we can presume that Rashta is around the ages of 18-20 by the time she arrives as a mistress.
And if we take into account that Ian is last seen standing up on his own and also just generally being too big to be a newborn, he could be two years old at the oldest, meaning that the youngest possible age Rashta could have possibly been when she gave birth to Ian was 16 years old.
Unlike Nurse Bendy however, Rashta's abuse was not only never tackled but her rapist was presented as this stand up guy who only made a mistake and is just a flawed human being who wants the best for his son, even if he isn't great with his words. Rashtas time as a slave and her story as an abuse victim is deliberately left out because A: you're not supposed to think about that, you're only supposed to think about Navier and how happy she is in the western empire, and B: The author themself probably didn't even think of Rashta as an abuse victim to Alan because he wasn't being over the top with insults or acting like a cartoons depiction of a rapist nor did they think of the age Rashta or Alan could have been when she first gave birth since TRE isn't that great with timelines to begin with.
But even if take into account of the poor writing Rashta was subjected to, she still is a victim of dehumanization, grooming and sexual abuse that causes her to age regress as an innocent young girl who squeals in delight at the sight of sweet treats and loves dressing like a princess, there's even a few scenes where she's shown to be holding a teddy bear in her arms. It's also very likely that Rashta figured out Sovieshu loved her innocent bimbo act and kept it up hoping it would appease him and she wouldn't be kicked out, which as you can guess would enable her to keep age regressing.
This also made sense to her adamant desire to wear flashy dresses, a lot of her dresses are either accessorized to the max with bows and frills or in her simpler gowns, she's wearing at least three rings, all meant to show her as callous and bad of course, not like Navier who only wears simple gowns with only earrings for jewelry. ☺️
The possibility of Rashta age regressing is already sad enough and then you remember it was used as way to contrast her and Navier and show off how mature Navier is for not letting her emotions get in the way of her coolness, because unlike Rashta, Navier handles her trauma with grace and it never impacts her relationships because of how she handles it. In reality, that is not true, Navier actually struggles to admit she loves Heinrey because of her trauma of being cheated on and emotionally abused but she has friends and family who actively cheer her up and give her the help she needs.
The "help" that Rashta receives is just "Remember, you will never be as great as Navier, you don't try hard enough for this empire like she did, and if you keep slipping up, then Sovieshu will divorce you, take your child, and leave you behind to die 😜"
What I'm trying to say is that Rashta is Nurse Bendy if her story was written through the perspective of the men in Moralton. A stupid and ditzy woman who led the men astray with her charms.
The fact that so many people, including myself, debate the “right and wrong” aspect of Rashta's character is exactly why she is so unique. She's grey, complex, and more human than rest of TRE characters and I'd say the main draw of TRE. The author unintentionally (I say unintentionally cause judging by her other stories, she's very classist, her villainess who are rich did worse things than Rashta but didn't face the severe consequences) created the most interesting character and one of the most famous character in manhwa history. It could have been so much better if author wasn't hellbent on propping up her boring MC and actually focused on an grey character like Rashta.
I heard they're making K-drama about it. And I don't have high hopes since K-drama aren't better than Spanish telenovela or Bollywood drama when it comes to misogyny and they suffer from mc syndrome too.
Which is too bad cause the screen writers have a really good chance to enhance the story and focus more on Rashta and make it a very compelling story. But like I said, my expectations are zero to negative.
Let's be real.
After Rashta was deposed as Empress for being a slave and became known as the most wicked Empress in history, the discrimination against slaves probably increases tenfold.
Like, you mean to tell me after a scandal like that, slave owners wouldn't be like "See! I told you guys we need to keep these things in their place or else they'll become greedy monsters!" And Slaves wouldn't be treated worse as a result?
I translated these screenshots that Calico.de.Rashta picked up from a post from a hard-core Navier stan.
These people (except Calico.de.Rashta) are all basically wishing Rashtas ending would be her being sold off to a brothel as her punishment, you know, the place where human trafficking and sex slavery happen.
This is why I don't believe people who tell me Rashta has the most toxic fanbase
pero ve a decir lo que hizo el pajarraco al hijo del duque Zemensia y se vuelven histéricos
I was a little dissapointed when I saw that episode 190 of The Remarried Empress didn't show this moment when Rashta sees Ian and Glorym playing together, so I decided to draw it in my style
I hope you'll like it 💖
Rashta, you weren't a perfect victim.
In a misogynistic, classist society that feels so familiar... so familiar.
You weren't a perfect victim. You were angry, you were traumatized, you were misled, betrayed by those who had never had your best interests at heart, you had not a single soul to love you.
The saying is - the only perfect victim is a dead one.
Your crime, your sin, is that like a rat trapped in the corner, you tried to bite and claw your way to survive.
I mourn for the Rashta who suffered so much to see the light... to find out the light was an oil lamp tipped onto you.
Now I understand why they call her "Rata" she was caged, experimented on and thrown away
I don't think enough truly understand just how amazing Rashta's rise to fandom fame was.
This woman was once the most hated character on webtoon, her nickname was so infamous it spread to other webtoons with a female antagonist. "Trashta" was one of the biggest reasons why remarried empress was so recognizable even without anyone having to read it.
Only for her reputation to go a complete 180 3 years later after one person had the bravery to point out what a slave typically would go through, she went from being pitiful but still disliked, to sympathetic villian, to being popular enough to start discourse with Navier fans, it has reached the point where some consider her more of a protagonist than Navier herself. There are defense pages for her, edits of her, remarried empress in general went through and is still going through severe backlash for making a slave the main villain to a bunch of royalty.
This is honestly extraordinary for a webtoon villainess in general, you all know how webtoo works, the live for the female lead regardless of what they do because they agree with the writing flaw that anyone against FL must be evil. Rashta single handedly crushed that idea after doing what no villainess on webtoon before could do: obtain a fanbase.
From most hated to one of the most beloved characters, sometimes even outrunning the og protagonists. That's genuinely amazing
she still needs love in the Hispanic fandom. Everyone on Webtoon wants to run her over with a bulldozer
Remarried empress Rashta modern au
In this au Rashta is twenty-years old and married sovieshu at eighteen, she divorced him after taking over his company. She remembers her past life, she was just born in a different era with the same people. When she processed this she wanted revenge against ergy and sovieshu. She hired a babysitter to help take care of Ian and Glorym while she's working.
Rashta wants to live happily with her children no matter what, and she's very ambitious to do that. Even though she deeply regrets everything she did in her past life, she continues doing the same for revenge (leading sovieshu on, etc) but this is all for a greater cause. She no longer submits to Ergy's manipulations and makes him suffer. She has an obsession with cleanliness because dirty things remind her of her past.
I think Ian would be the more shy, sensitive kid whilw Glorym would be the protective sister, but when the situation requires it hes even MORE protective (i dont think that even makes sense). I loved the idea of them being twins because it is a canon fact Ian will always remain Rahsta's son no matter the universe. Rashta would finally get to raise her kids basically. My art skills improved unu
she has a big grudge against navier, (while still regretting everything she did to her) navier is the ceo of a rival company in this au.
Happy Rashta is Best Rashta!
The decorations of the palace
Hi!! I made this Rashta artwork last night and thought it would be cool if it was my first post here, hope y’all like it!!
Low-key the concept of Rashta disassociating most of her time in the imperial palace and also trying to act as comfortable as possible came to me when I read @pruneunfair au so I wanted to give a small shoutout because your ideas are amazing girl ajsgajsbaj
