The political environment of India seems so humid and stifled these days, that each breath I take has become so laborious. It seems that the very concept of a free democracy has taken a heretical notion. The environment's not just charged up, but it's become very hostile.
Admittedly, Congress in the past few years hasn't done a job worthy of being re-elected; but it feels like we are set to trade a Manish Tiwary for an Arun Jaitley, a Salman Khurshid for a Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. The NaMo bhakti is taking a very scary turn.
Every regime in India has had it's dark times. If this UPA era has increased economic volatility in India, it is important to remember that this is a part of a global phenomenon. BJP led government has had it's own share of dark phases. Don't forget the Babri related riots and Gujarat riots have all taken place in their regime; and no government's ever had the humility or shame to admit a mistake happened on their part, that they failed in their vigilance. So much so, an utterly disgusting and vile scam in the form of the Army Coffin scam also took place on their watch. No scam can be equated to something as vile as demanding bribery and selling away coffins of our martyrs. Not to forget the case of the poorly fabricated Armors also occurred under this very "nationalist" party.
We are in strict need for a revamp in our political ideals. Not just switch from a soft-spoken and damaged party to a harsh-voiced, violent and equally non-responsibility-assuming party. The Aam Aadmi Party may not be "the" party, but they certainly have given us a glimmer of hope that indicates that an event of some decency can possibly take place in India. That a political, criminal or shady background is not necessary to lead, but someone, perhaps anyone, with a strong intention to better India can become a leader and put together a team that can actually do some good. And for a change, be humble enough to assume responsibility when matters go south.
God knows, we really need a group of people in power that have the will to better India's broken system. Someone who actually has the humility to own up for the wrongdoings in our system.
BJP's party may have decent party leaders but obviously not a group of leader-like candidates that can comprise a Cabinet capable enough to fix our system.
Congress's leadership is obviously spineless, but by God, they have some seriously well-qualified and leadership-worthy personnels.
AAP's leaders show a resolve to change what's wrong with the system.
The Third front's inherently so broken that I wouldn't deem worth talking about it.
Ultimately, our Constitution was created in an amendable spirit. It is meant to be changed and upgraded, so that injustices and malpractices do not take place with the Constitution as a pretext. It's our conscience that should judge what's right and amend the Constitution accordingly, not define our conscience by our Constitution. If we observe something wrong with our system, we shouldn't modify our methods to circumvent the system, but proactively demand the system itself be changed.
"If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him."
Be the change you want to see.
