Formerly otokonoidol I'm just someone who really likes Jpop boy groups and wants to share some of the lesser-known (i.e. not Johnny's Entertainment) ones. Sometimes I try my hand at translating things but my Japanese is pretty basic so don't expect much. This is my side blog for translations, videos, and other random things. An Introduction to M!LK | Group of the Month July 2018

M!LK is a 5-member Jpop group that is part of EBiDAN; (Ebisu Gakuen Danji-bu, or Ebisu Academy Boys Club) a division of the agency Stardust Promotion that is responsible for producing male idol groups. They are currently part of EBiDAN Next High (a selection of EBiDAN's younger groups who have the potential to eventually become like the bigger and more experienced groups such as Choutokkyuu and DISH//).

Talking to the Producer of COLORFUUUL | Japan's First All-Foreign Male Idol Group

DIG: What initially gave you the idea to start an idol group? JC: Well when I first moved to Japan 5 years ago I was looking for any way possible to study Japanese. I was teaching English so even though I was living in Japan I was using my native language English most of the day. I decided to check out Japanese music so I could listen and practice Japanese in my free time. That’s when I first came across Japanese idol groups and I immediately thought how interesting it would be to have a group of all foreigners doing the same thing! Of course at first I didn’t know that I would actually go through with the idea 4 years later, but for some reason I kept thinking about it, asked a ton of people what they thought of the idea, and even presented a speech about it in my Japanese language school I started attending a year later. Finally one day I thought that if I were to actually make this happen it would be now or never so I published my first ad looking for members in December of 2016.

I tried not to include bands, but if they do play instruments, just know that they also perform by singing and dancing. :P And forget about compiling the girl groups; as Wa-suta sang, “Too many idols”. Look on H!O for that in the idols thread.

With the links, I might have just put the links for their agency, company etc. just so you can look for profiles and whatnot. And I didn’t add any Nico links to make it more overseas friendly.

Marius Yo in an American Sitcom? | Plus General Rantings About Sexy Zone and JE

Sexy Zone was the first Japanese boy group that I became interested in, actually. I discovered them while watching J-MELO (an international TV show about Japanese music). This was around the time that their second single, "Lady Diamond" was released and a short clip of it was shown during J-MELO's new releases segment.

Jpop Boy Groups Performing Overseas? | MyMusicTaste

We've literally...never had a boy group at Hyper Japan and I'm very salty about it. The closest we had was THE HOOPERS last year (which was pretty awesome by the way). This year Japan Expo in France was lucky enough to see a performance from BREAK☆THROUGH"5D, and for the past two years FanimeCon in America have managed to secure two different boy groups (namely Da-iCE and X4) as their guests of honor.

EBiDAN Amigo 2016.9.3 (EBiSSH Segment) [Eng Sub]

So the big H!P project! It’s taking longer than I initially thought, but I’m at least done rough translating the whole thing! Now I just need to double check… 1 ½ hours of video… Sigh.

But for now, an EBiSSH video! This was on my list of things to translate because it was so adorable and alas! That’s one done! I wanted to get a CTQ one out before this, but might need to double check that one, too, since I’m having trouble picking words out. But if you’re even the least bit interested in EBiSSH, I highly recommend you watch this!

To gain more experience as artists, EBiSSH take part in an overly cute photoshoot battle! Who looks the most photogenic in glasses?

G=AGE Girls Award Report Translation

“New century unit” G=AGE with their energetic dancing captivated the audience with a full-force performance

[G=AGE / Model Press = 29th July] 5-member boy group, G=AGE appeared at “Girls Summer Festival by Girls Award” held on the 29th at the Tokyo Yogogi National Gymnasium.

The venue was dim but when the name, “G=AGE” appeared on the screen, huge cheers could be heard from the venue. They showed off the dance to their debut single, “Age of Future”.

“Sent from the future of the world state”, The MC, TASY introduces the concept and himself.

G-BOY'S (the trainees) also appeared for the song, “Happy Maker”. VASA said, “Let's get charged up!” to stir up the audience, they're sharp dancing was fascinating. During the climax part, “Happy Maker, Happy Maker” the audience were all charged up in unison, everyone was still excited even when the curtain closed.

G=AGE Profile

Future = new century dance/vocal unit consisting of FUMITO, MAHIRO, ROI, TASY, and VASA. Through their music and performance they'll create a new future of J-POP and a new era, as well as convey various messages.
