Like the souths deep and horrible history with racism cannot be ignored. But a lot of the country likes to ignore its own history of racism in favor of highlighting the south's. Look up the hell's canyon massacre. The families of the miners who killed those poor Chinese immigrants were using the skulls of the people they murdered as sugar bowls until the SIXTIES. In IDAHO. Washington State had sundown towns. Washington state STILL has sundown towns. Look up the pnws history of extreme racism toward Asian immigrants. Look up the dawes act and the history of the reservations. The entire US is racist and you don't get to hide that fact by going "ok well we arent that ba bad because this region is worse!!'

oregon is the only state in the country that was founded as whites only. Google bernetts lash law, but tw for extreme antiBlack violence. the kkk entered the west coast through Medford, Oregon. Portland built a ghetto, vanport, for its Black citizens in the 30's, the first time the city had a black population of any significant size, by diking up the culmbia and literally building inside the river, which led to hundreds of people dying in a massive flood in the 1950s. oregon has a massive fascist movement now and always. the Portland police association was the first successful police union in the country, and the bellwether for every other police union. oregon had and has sundown towns. the first president of the PPA was a member of the German American bund until it was forcibly disbanded. people have described the behavior of the Portland police in Albina, Portland's primary Black neighborhood, as "like overseers". the i84 interchange (im pretty sure it might have been a different freeway) and (im fairly sure) Lloyd's center were both built by destroying Portland's Black main Street and Black neighborhhods. a nazi warship was welcomed into the port of portland with a parade in 1936 I think
