With this upcoming pride celebration I would like to say something

In the selfshipping community there is a debate of people who are strictly attracted to/ have romantic feelings for fictional characters. For me, personally, I fall in the romantic spectrum.

I’ve seen people in the community debate whether this attraction is a state of “being” or a state of “having”. What I mean is, in my case I have both seen a referral to being what is dubbed “fictoromantic” as well as being someone who has “fictophilia”. This argument comes from is this attraction a type of philia or love of sexual nature or an LGBT+ identity.

If any of my followers or mutuals are wondering what I believe, I believe both exist. I see a difference between self shipping and being ficto.

Question: how do I identify?

I identify as a fictoromantic, I do not have romantic attraction to real people I met. However, among people who don’t believe in ficto being a state of being and instead an attraction you have, I identify as an aromantic fictophiliac. I would like to specify I have put my preferred identification for both beliefs so my followers who have conflicting views on this subject may still have a way of identifying my sexuality.

I believe even if you do not believe in being ficto, you should respect a person’s identification because calling it fictoromantic or fictosexual is not hurting anyone.

I wanted to give a special shout out to fictosexuals, fictoromantics and aspec fictophiliacs this pride month. For love is love, so long as it is safe, consenting and true.

PS I would like to emphasize the part about not harming anyone with love and being consensual. I don’t want pedos or so called “MAP”s reblogging this because I said love is love. I do not support pedophilia or pedophilia being a part of the LGBT+ community.
