“Gotta be the school colors, I think. I haven’t really checked if the guys have better options -- I know it’s the same blazer, more or less. You should come over to mine then? My parents should be out until after dinner time? Oh Ford... things like that are way too nice to say. I haven’t done anything!”

“Wait, dumb question– but do they just switch off colors or something? I’m sure it works on you just fine.  How about I get a sneak peek of said uniform, so I can be the judge of all this. Well you make it easy to be sweet.”

“The blazer is one color and the skirt is the opposite but in plaid. So red with a navy plaid skirt or navy with a red plaid skirt. It’s different for guys though. Obviously. I mean, you certainly could if you’d like? I don’t do anything, silly.”

“Fun fact: there are so many schools all over the world that wear uniforms all the time rather than home clothes. I haven’t attended any, but I saw them. Uniforms don’t seem all that bad. I think I could get used to them, as could you.”

“All over the world huh? I mean, they aren’t awful. But I just never thought I’d be going to a school that requires them. Are there very many in the United States? How do you know all of this?”

“Ariel has been raving about said uniform, though I’m sure whatever color it is– it would look beautiful on you. I can’t wait to see you in it.”

“There’s a red and navy version of it and a navy and red version of it. I’m just really not sure it works with the blonde. But, you know, thanks. For being sweet as always.”

“As nice as it is not to have to worry about what to wear to school every day, I’m not sure I’m entirely sold on the concept of a uniform. I mean, they’re cute and all but I’m not sure it’s my color...”

“Yeah, he sided with the punks to begin with, I think he feels I’ll be okay at the prep school. It’s not like Ridgebrook was. It’s okay… It’s only a few hours out of the day, right?”

“I guess I never noticed. Being in the middle, I kind of tried to ignore the divide as much as possible. I’m sure he’s right though -- it’ll be filled with really good people and it’ll help us prepare for college. Feels so much longer than that, especially when you have places to be afterwards.”

“I’m not kidding, I’d never kid about you being the most important. I don’t mind you taking care of me either, I’ve got a sensitive side– so it seems,” he bit his lip, staring at her. “We’ll go with that,” he took her offer with a small chuckle. Gently resting his fingertips against the back of his neck, Ford’s blue eyes stayed on her face. “I don’t think hating you is possible, you can try though,” wincing, Ford let his fingertips dig into his neck as he stiffened at the pain. “Holy shit,” he uttered, swallowing hard.

“So it seems,” she repeated. She was as careful and thorough as she could manage simultaneously, biting into her lower lip as he winced and went rigid with the sting. “You’re doing so well -- just hold still. Good. Only a little more.” She dabbed the cotton over the entirety of the wound before quickly pulling it back and ripping a few strips of gauze off with her teeth. She patched up the area nimbly, whispering reassurances all the while.

“Clearly, the most important, I guess I’ll have to behave now,” he faked a pout. Watching her, he tilted his head to the side. “The family, you know the boys get together we got to act stupid, show who has the bigger set of– well,” he smirked. Laughing at her scolding, he instantly regretted it, wincing slightly. Biting his lip, he slowly raised his hands to rest against the back of his neck, giving her room to work. “I trust you,” Ford licked his lips, prepared for the pain of the antiseptic.

"I hope you’re not kidding because I actually mean it. Although let it be said that I don’t actually mind taking care of you.” She hummed, licking over her lips. “Bigger set of wheels?” she offered in place of his momentary lull. Darcy noticed the wince and refocused, ignoring the expanse of clean unmarred skin so she could work on the injury. “You’re going to hate me for the next fifteen to twenty seconds,” she half laughed before dabbing the cotton over his large patch of irritated skin.

“I know, I know, I’ve heard a few times already– we weren’t supposed to be getting so intense today, but I had to show off,” he let his lips curl upwards at her smile, knowing very well she wasn’t too mad. “Advice from a pretty girl, I think I might have to take it. Well no poking, that’s a good thing for me, I hate needles,” he grinned at her giggle, shaking his head as he stood straight. “So mean, what if I’m in pain? That bed looks awfully comfy,” he teased. Watching her closely, he folded his shirt over his arm, too scared to put it on anything that might end up getting blood on it. Concern flooding his features as she dug through her drawer to find, medical supplies, he could on figure out why.

“Well now you’re hearing from me which is clearly most important,” she huffed, shaking her head as she continued her collection of the necessary tools to fix him up. “Who did you have to show off for, anyways, hm?” Her teasing was light and she turned on her heel at the mention of him laying down. “Don’t you dare!” she scolded, nose crinkling. All the required supplies in hand, she gingerly made her way back to him, dabbing antiseptic onto a cotton ball. “This is going to really sting, okay? It’ll only last a little.”
