Conversations about Queerbaiting

I kind of had to psych myself up for this post. Okay, because it’s been requested and, now, because it’s incredibly relevant to certain things going on, we’re going to have a lesson called: What is Queerbaiting? Specifically, we’re going to address the claims that Blam is queerbaiting. 

To be fair to Glee, and a lot of people who follow me, we play in a fandom where queerbaiting doesn’t come up a lot. Or at least it didn’t. We have canonically gay characters! That date! This isn’t to say the show has never engaged in it, because it has, but lately I keep seeing the word tossed out there when it concerns Sam and Blaine.

Which leads me to think that either: a) people don’t quite understand what queerbaiting is or b) they do understand, but they think if they throw some social justice lingo at something they hate it gives them justification for hating it.

Regardless, because this blog is all about talking about representation in media, we’re going to take a look at what’s going on with the Blam and Queerbaiting argument. This is very long, so I broke it down into sections. I’m going to go over four basic things:

Ok, I finally finished this. I feel like it took me forever!! Ghost and Phalanx from "All the other Ghosts" spotted while fighting crime in NYC. I tried my best. I wanted it to be marvel-ish, but I had never tried to draw comics so I don’t know.  Thank you Rainjoy for such a wonderful story. Lineart
