They're right, though. Now is exactly the wrong time to make dramatic investment moves. You know, I wouldn’t complain one bit about an ending where CXS survives.

And not just because he’s best boi and must live, though there is that too and it’s probably feeding some kind of bias.

I know this probably isn’t much of a hot take, but I don’t think any themes in Link Click are going to be broken by this kind of ending. Because I don’t think it’s a story about moving on.

It’s about love. Almost every case they take aside from Emma’s case and the big serial killer case involves love in some way, and a case could even be made for those two (Emma’s love for her parents, Tianchen’s love for his mother and sister)

A man’s love for his deceased loved ones. A woman’s love for her best friend/maybe girlfriend. Two parent’s love for their missing child. A man’s love for the woman he wants to marry.

And even outside cases, love is a big theme. Familial, friend, romance, any kind. And a big part of the pull factor is the Photo Studio Gang’s love for each other— and I don’t just mean shipping! Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi’s siblinghood! The friendship shared between all three of them! And, yes, Shiguang.

So I don’t think an ending where Cheng Xiaoshi lives would break that theme, at the very least. It just factors in more.

It makes this story one about a love that transcends everything. A love so powerful, that one of the parties involved will break every one of his rules, defy the laws of reality itself, just for a chance at saving the other.

It would be pretty neat, is all I’m trying to say.
