âThe world is so complicated but no one else seeâs it for what it really is....â
Just a note about high functioning autism. I donât seem like I have it. A lot of us donât. But that doesnât make it any less real. You donât feel what goes on in our mind and body. You donât feel the irritation everyday when people just donât understand. Or when all the world seems to say is: âyour too harshâ âchange is inevitableâ âothers have feelings toâ âyou have to do things you donât want toâ or my favorite âgrow up and start acting like an adult alreadyâ
We donât expect pity or expect you to want less from us. At least I donât. I just want a little extra time to adjust. Throwing me to the wolves isnât gonna do anything but make me panic and give up. Iâm relatively normal. Socially and emotionally I struggle. I never even knew I was autistic until I was 18. I was sent to a psychologist to be test for bipolar disorder like my father. My therapist had the suspicion I was bipolar and wanted to know so she could make a treatment plan suited for it. But when he (psychologist) diagnosed me as autisic and began to explain things about me and linked them to me as a child it all made sense.
I understand myself now I just have to fight in a world that doesnât.
