Naegi frowned slightly. Komaeda seemed somewhat put off by the idea. Not that he blamed him - if you weren’t great at first impressions, it would probably be difficult to find someone willing to befriend you. He hoped Komaeda had some friends, at least.
Judging by his next sentence, he didn’t seem to think he did. “But it’s always nice, to have friends to talk to. Even if you are independent, I think you can still make friends. So, even if you don’t feel like you have many now, you shouldn’t hold back from trying to make more in the future. Because I’m sure there’s people that would love to have you as a friend, and they’d be really missing out if you never talked to them!”
Komaeda just frowned and looked down, quite disappointingly, too.
"My, so your luck isn't as extreme, then. I had hope why had that much in common. Well, not really in a sense. I assume it was a selfish kind of hope, then. I'm sorry for that.
"But! Perhaps you truly are something of another talent," he stated, bouncing back up with a certain positive gleam in his eyes, which soon became an uncomfortable and eerie gleam as he went, "It must be. Ahh, the hope radiating from you is quite strong, this talent must be something that is truly beautiful. Possibly even as beautiful as hope itself," his hands were out to the sides now, palms open. A smile painted across his pale and tired looking face, genuine happiness is what it showed, though.
"Hope-kun!!" She had mysteriously appeared in his room again.
"I-"
"H-How did you do that, Sora-san?"
"I don’t care if I die, do I? My talent’s useless, my feelings are useless, my opinions… you’re the only one I care about!"
"Now, now, you're not worthless. Super High School Level Balance is actually an amazing talent, Sora-san."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean…" Somehow, the way Komaeda phrased that was a bit too irritating, but Hinata didn’t want to allow himself to be so easily riled up. Hearing Komaeda’s choice of literature, however, really struck Hinata. "You like a lot of prose, huh…the mystery and horror suits you real well, though." I twas the perfect chance to rebuttal the snide remark of the other, and Hinata took that chance.
"Was what I said offending to you..? I don't quite understand why it would be. It's just that I analyze and assume what people would like based on observations and such," Komaeda responded before having anger and annoyance thrown at him, painting his self loathing and nice personality into another. No warning, no trigger, though it was a side effect from his frontotemporal dementia, actually.
"My, nice rebuttal. I meant it as a compliment, but whatever. Ah, but it's not like you'd care if you offend someone who you think is worthless, hm? Constantly being cautious and hateful towards me, treating me lower than human. Huh, funny really, coming from someone as untalented as you."
Naegi laughed slightly. “Well, I do try to be. But I’m sure you can be positive and observant at the same time, right?” He shrugged at the next question. “I guess they’re pretty important, a lot of the time. Whether or not you want to be friends with someone is often based on first impressions, I think.”
Komaeda’s explanation did seem to make sense. It would be impossible to get all the information you need about a person just from your initial meeting. Naegi nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. But that’s why you shouldn’t be biased by what you first think. You could end up missing out on someone who could end up as a really great friend, that way.”
"I assume that's what most people do, make friends based on first impressions...," a sudden wave unhappiness overcame him, suddenly taking over his facial expressions like a blanket. Temporary, but still noticeable.
He suddenly regained a happy mask, "Ahah! I don't need friends!! I'm perfectly fine alone, Naegi-kun. I've taken care of myself for this long, I think I can take care of myself longer. It's better that way, so to say."
"Hope-kun!!" She had mysteriously appeared in his room again.
"I-"
"H-How did you do that, Sora-san?"
"I don’t care what you call it in your world, just that I want you."
"It's wise to stay away from me. You could get hurt. Or you could die."
"Hope-kun!!" She had mysteriously appeared in his room again.
"I-"
"H-How did you do that, Sora-san?"
"Sorry. I guess I’m so obsessed I pick up your habits."
"By obsessed I think you mean infatuated, Sora-san."
"All’s well Komaeda-kun, you seem a bit jumpy today, is anything wrong?"
"A-Ahah! Being in front of someone with such high authority would make one jumpy."

The disheveled looking boy put on a tranquil smile as he greeted the other, "Ah! Hello, Hinata-kun!"
Naegi nodded. “I guess you could say we do, haha. Weird, that we’d end up meeting the other person with the same talent,” he commented, although he supposed that if the white haired boy was in a different grade to him, it wasn’t so weird that they would have the same talent. The lottery was held every year, after all.
"Ehh? You don’t seem like trash, to me." Komaeda’s description of himself seemed kind of harsh. Even if he wasn’t a ‘Super High School Level’ this that or the other, nobody deserved to think that lowly of themselves. "I’m sure you have things that you’re good at, as well as bad at, just like everyone else. Some people have just… found what they’re good at and passionate about really early on. I guess that’s what makes someone ‘Super High School Level’, right?"
"You're quite positive, like myself. Though unfortunately a positive attitude can cause you to be blind to the truth sometimes," he giggles before continuing, "It's silly, though, what you think of a person at first. First impressions, they're quite interesting don't you think?"
"Someone who analyzes -- like myself -- can possibly form an accurate representation of the person you meet. Ah, but! Most of the time it's inaccurate, for everyone, really. You barely scratch the surface of the person in front of you, yet you already paint a picture of them and their personality. Quite intriguing, don't you think?"
"Hope-kun!!" She had mysteriously appeared in his room again.
"I-"
"H-How did you do that, Sora-san?"
"Hmm… she held up a black and white key. "Teleportation?"
"That's my line."
By the way I made a Tsumiki RP Blog
A mildly surprised sounding gasp escaped through Naegi’s mouth. “Same here! Good Luck and all that, I mean. I’m Makoto Naegi.”
His lips form a calm smile once again before they part to speak, "My...! We have so much in common already! It's kind of funny, though. The talent is so stupid that they've given it to multiple people. Unless," he suddenly points upward, raising a brow at the shorter.
"We have a talent that they have not discovered yet," he titters before beginning a self-depreciating statement, "Heh! Mine would probably be SHSL Trash, though."
Hinata wasn’t sure what brought about the sudden changes in the topic, but he thought about the question for a moment. If Komaeda was trying this hard, perhaps he deserved at least a listen.
"Well…I do like to read about fantasy and Sci-Fi…I don’t really have a favorite genre, to be honest? I think I’d read anything that would catch my attention." It was indeed a tricky question to answer, but Hinata only spoke what came to mind.
"Ahh, not surprising at all. You seem like the kind of person who's eyes would marvel in the world of fantasy," Komaeda clasped his fragile lookin hands together before tilting his head and smiling at Hinata. He certainly seemed like he was enjoying himself. Well, of course he was. He always enjoyed talking about books, "To keep the conversation going, I must say many genres are my favorites, but certain genres do certainly stick out. Sonnets, poems, mystery, and horror, to be exact, Hinata-kun."
"I guess horrid is one way of putting it, yeah." She shrugged once again. It was a little too strong of a word, but at the same time it pretty much was "horrid" during her life. Maybe to other people it isn’t so bad, but to someone as sensitive as Ashley is, she absolutely hated her past. Anyone would..She decided to play along and smiled, "You’re right though..I guess I should have a little more hope.."
"But! Something good will always come! Even in the darkest of despair, you must have hope! You know that right?" Oh my, he's starting up.
