Me seeing you being called every slur possible for treating show and books as different universes, therefore they should be adressed accordingly and the author is fucking around changing the books narrative - which is different not only about the design -, but the lore as well, and you are expected to not give your opinion on why you dislike it.
They act like you are attacking Leah and calling her names. It is impressive the mental gymnastics this fandom have. You cant have an educated opinion that is different from the rest.
Don't worry this isn't my first rodeo. I was called racist when I voiced my preference for Nico's casting back in the day before the child actor was announced,since it's actually important for his character to be in that way,and even when I criticized Riordan again when I found out about the useless changes he made in the show for S3 for their quest. Never exhibited signs of racism or judgmental against somebody different in my 18 years of life but apparently I've been one all along,I just didn't know 😔✋
Anyway,I think part of the whole thing is because of the fact that the show is so much hated on,and Leah especially had a very strong hate train at the start,that now people jump at any form of negativity and think of the worst. Which in a way I get it. She is a child actor,she is doing her work and trying her best,not her fault that the writing room did them all dirty,so of course the fans are protective. She doesn't deserve the hate and racism is a really fucked up thing to take in consideration in this,since there are people that actually hate her because she is black 💀💀💀
But I'm not. I don't care for the show or the actors that much,the few posts I made about it are basically criticisms about Riordan and the writing room and how the production is fucking everything up. Leah is a good Annabeth for the show,not her fault that the script is mediocre. The same thing I can say for Percy,Luke,Thalia,literally everyone else.
From the moment this show came and it was obvious it was starting to change everything,we needed to treat the characters as 2 different things: Show Annabeth ≠ Book Annabeth. The two have differences. Leah's Annabeth is more stoic and less emotional,her backstory got changed as well and so does her view of the characters (especially Luke for now). Book Annabeth? Totally different from Show Annabeth,but the two are different versions that can and should coexist while still having their differences.
Annabeth in the show is black? Totally ok,I don't care about that,like I don't care that Percy is blonde,or that Thalia is black as well,or that Luke has black hair. I don't care about that because I don't care about the actors and I don't care about the show or its fans much. I try to keep this blog strictly book-only because I don't like to associate myself with that part of the fandom.
What my previous post was about,that most people apparently failed to understand (but that's probably my fault for wording it like that,even if the masculine pronoun was specified),is the fact that Riordan can't think of show Annabeth and Book Annabeth as only one character. There are two Annabeth now with a different story to tell. You can't assimilate the new's characterization to a 20 years old character that got described until now in a total opposite way. It's like the same thing he's doing with the monsters all over again.
He crashed 20 years+ of world-building,writing and books by making all the monsters "victims" of something bigger than them,when it never was the case,and now he is trying to assimilate the show description of the characters to their book counterparts when you genuinely can't. People like to think that the authors can do the fuck they want with their world but they can't once they set the story and the characters up. Some things are flexible enough to bend,but this isn't the case. Idk why it's so hard for people to understand that YOU CAN'T GO AGAINST 20 YEARS OF WRITING THE SAME THING! Especially when they are some of your most iconic and known characters–which also happen to be a main character as well. And if you do,you just ruin everything else you build so far–like he is doing.
If Riordan,or everyone else,sees Leah as their Annabeth,then that's totally ok,she is a solid actress for her after all (the writing room and the script are the problems),and is doing her best. But! Book Annabeth is different from Show Annabeth,like how Show Percy is different from Book Percy and how everyone else's version is different from their book counterparts as well,so let's not try to associate them as one.
Also,since people can't read,the hate campaign is for Riordan,btw. I don't care about the actors and only idiots would hate them for doing their jobs. The author that's ruining everything in his last books and thinks that he can discard the popularity of the books series because now he has the show,on the other hand,is a free game. After all there won't be a show in the first place without the books,and its popularity will always come second to the books series. PJO might not be as famous as HP, but it sure has its own huge audience and readers.
This was my first time (third technically,lol) being the villain of the story. 10/10 experience,would try it again in the future. Let them come for me,I'll wait for them.
