Based on âThe thorn at his sideâ by @sapphickocho
Eleven e henry D&D version, based on âescape from de labâ AU by @januscadet
I hate it when I'm in "I don't want to talk" and "for the love of God, don't touch me" mode and the person keeps insisting on contact even though I'm clearly avoiding them
After last time's vote, here's the new Stranger Things tarot card- Papa's children, as the Three of Cups.
Definitely a version of them that is much more happy than they ever got to be in canon... (It's been months and I'm still seething). I like to picture Kali and Henry bickering, while El plays referee. The design on their cups is a reference to my AU!
Now...
Who's next?
Lucas
Patty
Jonathan
Joyce
Will (+ Party)
Hopper
Dr. Brenner / Papa
And I officially reached the limit of cards I can put in one post... Will have to make âša collage âšto get them all to fit. Sigh
See you soon, guys!
Holy shit that's my 500th post
I know that this is a consequence of the show changing the entire context of the relationship between Percy and Thalia with those dreams â and the fact that Thalia zapped Percy upon arrival lmao â but the difference between the final scenes on the books vs show is yet another glaring example of them not being the same characters.
Book Percy saw a confused girl and immediately rushed to help her. He holds her, assures her that she's safe and doesn't let go even when he realizes who she is, because while everyone else (including him) is thinking is about what this might mean for the prophecy, at this point Thalia doesn't know anything.
Meanwhile show!Percy is glaring at Thalia with every ounce of hostility he can manage. The girl who, just a few moments before, he thought had sacrificed herself to keep her friends safe. The girl he'd just learned that actually lost 6 years of her life because Zeus decided to punish her. The girl who just woke up to a world she doesn't recognize and is confused as hell. And yeah, Thalia electrocuted him, but it wasn't something she did on purpose. And yet this jerk is puffing up his chest, balling his fists and is about to uncap his sword while Thalia still has no ideia of what's happening or why this white rando is staring her down
I know that the âbillionaire playboyâ look is important to Bâs look but honestly if the joker or smthn tried to kill someone at a gala and Bruce fuckin decked him everyone would probably just be like âdamn these Gotham boys are just Like That huhâ
Too true, the actual reason nobody makes Bruce Wayne the Batman seriously is because the entirety of Gotham is ridiculous and Like That
Reporter: Mister Wayne, how did you find the courage to punch the Joker?
Bruce: That clown comes to my party, threatens my guests and my children - of course I deck him. What else was I supposed to do? Wait for Batman to show up?
I will not fall for the propaganda that Nico had a crush on Percy. It was the perfect found sibling relationship. Rick retconning Nico to suddenly have a crush gives me the same vibes as when someone comes out to their best friend and said best friendâs immediate reaction is âErm, you donât have a crush on me, do you?â
Gay people CAN have friends without having feelings for them, Rick.
Being a calm, gentle, non-reactive person is really hard work, which is probably why many people are none of these things. Personally I think itâs worth it but sometimes one does want to just roll around on the floor wailing at the top of oneâs lungs
few things bring me more joy than conversing with an author in their comment section. especially if iâm a regular in their comment sections. yes we will be catching up like old friends underneath the filthiest fic youâve ever read. i can only hope that they enjoy my position as a reoccurring character in their lives. @ all the authors out there, i love u all <3
âI choose the prophecy. It will be about me.â
In my opinion, this quote from The Titanâs Curse is one of the most important moments for Percyâs character in the whole series. Here he is, still a kid, pushing down his fear and choosing a prophecy that could easily end in his death, all to protect Nico from that very same burden. He admits in the next few lines that he doesnât want it, but he steps up and claims it anyway to spare a kid who hates him. Itâs the selflessness and compassion that Percy displaye here in willingly shouldering such a heavy burden that, to me, truly makes him such a remarkable hero. There are so many stories about heroes having a great destiny, but Percy really stands out here because of his choice. He accepts the personal pain and suffering that could potentially come out of this prophecy and doesnât shy away from it, just to save Nico. To me itâs this moment that truly shows that Percy is the child of the prophecy, not just because of his choice, but because of what his choice proves about who he is - a courageous, selfless person who is truly strong enough to fulfill his destiny and lead the demigods. I honestly still feel proud every time I reread this scene.
Anyone else thinking about how Important names are to Eridian culture, considering how Rocky addressed himself and Adrian, and what that would mean once Grace got to Erid. (ignore statements of time i refuse to do the conversions)
Imagine, after decades of your world becoming colder and colder, you are saved. A single Eridian, the only one of twenty three to survive, arrives in an alien ship, accompanied by a creature you can barely conceive.
Everything about the alien is so loud, hinges formed from tissue thumping and stretching in constant movement, even while unconscious. Completely organic, reliant of oxygen and hydrogen. Instead of a protective carapace, it regrows its damaged tissues. It has senses you do not, and technology so unlike your own, both able to utilise a force you have never heard of. The same force that killed almost your entire mission team. Highly adaptable, able to teach itself how to fly its ship in under a week, able to become fluent in the engineer's dialect in less than four years.
And if Erid's best engineer is correct (and there's no reason it wouldn't be), this creature not only managed to breed a predator of the warmth-taker to survive in various atmospheres, including Threeworld's, but also turned around to provide aid when it discovered that the predator could escape xenonite.
And you think: Surely, this creature which protects itself without a carapace, which sleeps so lightly and knows so much and learns so quickly, which saved two planets at the cost of ever returning to its thrum, surely, a creature so extraordinary must have a name to match
And you think: Perhaps it is strength, Mountain-Base or Lonsdaleite-Carapace. Perhaps it is intellect, Diamond-Claw or Lockpick-Mind. Perhaps it is courage, Song-Through-Silence or Path-Carver
And you think: None of these names hold the true weight of what this creature is to them. How do you describe something like that, which aids without expectation of anything in return, which risks its own life for the sake of a species it cannot touch, which performs miracles simply because it was asked.
And then you learn: Your saviour's name is Kindness
See the thing about Stratt putting all media ever in the Hail Mary is that it isnât just for lolz or to keep the crew entertained, it always struck me as something deeply sad. Because even if all the crew survived, there was no way they could consume all possible media ever, language barriers alone would present a problem. And even then, they had a job to do and focus on first (which could have theoretically taken decades of work to figure out) so they wouldnât have much use for The Great Gatsby or a weekâs worth of poorly written amateur Guatemalan experimental opera. Let us remember that Stratt is practical and true utilitarian Instead, I think it was another part of the Hail Mary. If the scientists failed, if the Earth died, then what? Everything would have been completely lost. Art, music, film, history. Destroyed. Without a single living soul to remember it by. It would be as if all of humanity had never existed.
But if it survived? If other alien civilizations discovered traces of humanity? Then the memory of mankind could live on and be remembered. What better way to do that than to send everything (literally everything, the art, the music, the science, the history) out as far as humanly possible so that it might connect with someone else in the universe? It would be a long shot, a Hail Mary, but it was the best chance that humanity had to be remembered
you dislike Luke Castellan because he disagreed with an oppressive government system and actually took action to change the abusive ways him and his peers have been forced to follow for millennia.
I dislike Luke Castellan because in the Titans Curse he manipulated Annabeth, who he raised as his little sister, into holding up the sky, the FUCKING sky, for over 20 hours and had the audacity to walk away as though he was completely apathetic towards it while she begged and pleaded with him to help her.
we are not the same.
