A fantastic talk about being a designer & "changing the world".
The first step is getting over yourself, just try to be a good citizen, be a good helper, just do the basic things, and in that way, you’re in the service of a good message.
— Jennifer Daniel
About to drop these on store.askew1.com at midday (NZ time) today. Hand painted multiples on paper.
A.T.C.
A single native app will “beat” a single website every time …but an app store pales when compared to the incredible reach and scope of the entire World Wide Web.
Adactio: Journal—Web! What is it good for?
It's a joy to see the web talked about in this way.
When we're all dead and gone & the anthropologists and archaeologists dig through all we left behind, I'm 100% certain that The Book Of Jeremy will be what they reference as the source of what the true web was.
Ye olde hip hop
There are only a dozen images so far, but this Tumblr comparing art from before the 16th century and contemporary images of hip hop is fantastic. My favorites:
That is the great thing about web technology. It isn’t clean or well designed by a long shot — but it is extensible and it can learn from many products built with it. This is how we got the History API, this is how we got Web Sockets and many other APIs that offer a handle on very common web functionality, even if we replace them. If we do everything client-side we do not only need to deliver innovative, new interfaces. We also need to replicate the already existing functionality the web gives us. A web site that takes too long makes the browser show a message that the site is not available and the user can re-try. When the site loads, I see a spinner. Every time we replace this with a client-side call, we need to do a lot of UX work to give the user exactly the same functionality.
The “Web Application” Myth — Medium
I'm a huge fan of music. I'm a huge fan of documentaries. I'm a huge fan of technology. The jury is still out on Devo.
Digital IPA. It’s our weird stepchild. The normal IPA that doesn’t seem to fit in with our supernormal range of beer.
It’s probably the second most commonly home-brewed Yeastie Boys’ recipe? Surely Pot Kettle Black is number one. Or, possibly, given Digital’s open-source nature it is in...
After all the hype I'm really, really wanting to get my hands on the new recipe... @yeastyboys...?

1,000-piece CMYK Puzzle
Clemens Habicht has created a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle contains exactly 1,000 different colors arranged in the form of a CMYK gamut.
Good luck.

Beautiful.
To be clear, CSS isn’t a coding language, it is rather a declarative language. Should web designers learn how to code? Maybe. Should they understand how CSS works? Absolutely!
