I've said it before, but I'll say it again. If you like Dragon Age, play Small Fires.

I know Matthieu and Arden technically appeared in the prologue, but I'm going to hold off on drawing them until I have some more vibes. I feel like we really got to know these two in the prologue. And I adored them both dearly. I drew my own Knight-Corporal (again) but I wanted the main attention to be on the companions. Here's Milo:

So far, he's sorta in the middle with Simon, but leaning towards friend. They get along and they definitely bonded over their common enemy: Sardou. Milo's not as strict as Simon would prefer, though. Plus...ultimately Milo chose to blame Baker. IYKYK. I keep comparing them to Tulio and Miguel.

I don't think I would call Milo and Anasha FRIENDS yet, but I think he respects her. At this point in the story, he's pretty in for a penny in for a crown when it comes to stealing off into the night to go help Saga. If he got his way, he'd help raise her. She's family to him as much as Baker was. Is he gonna be Saga's uncle? Cousin? Some sort of vaguely familial but hard to define role that one could say indicates that in adulthood, Milo's turning into Baker? Who knows!

I'll probably do more portraits once chapter one drops. Or sooner. Idk. I'm doing artfight prep, who knows what I'll be drawing.

Deserter

Yeah I'm not done drawing Small Fires art. I'm gonna draw up whatever Milo is gonna be wearing in Chapter 1 once he ditches or stows his Templar armor.

I also wanted to draw up a more detailed look at Milo's face, even though this is only half of it. He's 34, and I think he's starting to get a few greys, even if the vast majority of his hair is still red. I wonder what Baker thought of the scrappy little kid he took in starting to go grey.

Also the stress of everything going on the last few weeks has made his rosacea flare up. Not the biggest thing on his plate right now, but it sure ain't helping.

As things stands at the end of the prologue, I don't think Milo thinks he's ever going to return to the Circle. He deserted, I don't think there's really any coming back after that. Also I think he's got a lot of resentment for Knight-Commander Rolan building in his gut and wants to get the fuck away from there. Plus, Saga needs him. Baker was family, and he's starting to feel like Saga is too.

Small Fires is back and I had a lot of fun with the prologue! I'm very much enjoying the dynamic between Milo and Simon. He's still kind of in the middle as far as friendship and I'm still deciding how much I want to press my thumb on that side of the scale.

Milo still sorta thinks of Simon as a kid in his head, though he would *never* call him that. He's been doing his best to guide him and support him without being too overly overbearing.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how their relationship builds after...all that. They don't always see eye to eye (in fact they OFTEN don't) but there's still mutual respect. Anyway I was getting Tulio and Miguel vibes from them, and so I referenced this frame from The Road to El Dorado, but with some rivalry I got during that scene in the barn when you're learning about Simon's grandpa.

I'm still rotating my Scarlet Hollow OC in my head.

100% inspired by this post, I've been working on drawing all of Mortimer's outfits during their week in Scarlet Hollow. I'll probably re-draw their Monday and Friday outfits and make a whole lineup eventually. Tuesday they just kinda threw a different shirt on the same jeans and sneakers that they were wearing the day before. Wednesday, they were feeling kinda cute and wanted to put together a fun lil outfit to ghostbust in (aaaand they'd already slid into Kaneeka's DMs so they were feeling good.) This would be the last outfit that they actually put thought into for the whole week though.

I used a pose reference for Wednesday and I really like how the proportions turned out.

Scarlet Hollow Ch. 5 Spoilers under the cut.

So like...unless Wayne actually undressed and re-dressed them, Mortimer was just exploring the closed wing of the Scarlet mansion in their pajamas. And if that's the case, they DEFINITELY didn't have the wherewithal to get changed before running off to find the seal on the farm. So chapter 5 (including the whole thing with Sybil and Kaneeka) was in those same pajamas.

So Scarlet Hollow, huh? (Spoilers through Ch 5 under the cut)

Just finished Chapter 5 and I figured I'd draw the OC I've had brewing. I'm planning to replay with them soon now that I have a more solid idea of who they are as a person. I think once they started talking to animals as a child, Vivian started homeschooling them to prevent anyone from finding out about the bit of Scarlet Hollow weirdness that followed them down to Florida. I feel like there was some sort of Incident(tm) but I haven't decided what yet.

Mortimer was always a bit of a troublemaker with an unlucky streak. They ran into some legal trouble in their teens/early 20s (things like drug possession and a bit of other criminal mischief). This means they already had a record when the cops started getting suspicious.

I had a lot of fun playing with the sorta desaturated palette from the game when designing them!

Wow I haven't drawn Pat in forever. But this pose prompt had such "Job gone sideways in the Citadel" energy, so I rolled with that energy.

Artblock conquered with post-exile Lazarus (spoilers for a 30 year old game under the cut)

I have a general idea of what happens between that actual end of Fallout and Lazarus eventually ending up in Arroyo. If we go with the canon timeline, there's a couple months in between "You're a hero, and you have to leave" and reuniting with the folks that left Vault 13 to join him in the wasteland. I've gotten attached to the idea of him and dogmeat crashing in Shady Sands while he tries to get his shit together once everything kinda fell apart around him. I think the whole group came together a bit after Lazarus' seventeenth birthday.

At some point I'll draw his family, but I know his mama was the one that actually pulled the trigger at Jacoren's execution and left to reunite with her son, his pops wanted to go, but had to stay in the vault due to health/disability reasons, and his older brother stayed in 13 with their father. Lazarus gets why his brother and his pops didn't go out into the wasteland, but he does miss them a lot.

As much as I draw Helsi, Rica was due for her time in the spotlight.

I've had this idea for a gown that Rica will be wearing when I get to the Paragon of her Kind arc of The Child of Dust and Ashes. So I decided to draw it.

I made a Fallout OC.

I haven't played fallout 1 in FOREVER (honestly I think I watched other people play it more than I played it myself). So I'm playing it now and this is my Vault Dweller.

Well, the last time I played it was before I made a conscious effort to abandon cringe. So I made an OC to rotate while I play. I'm deviating from the memoirs in the Fallout 2 manual a tad but kinda playing with the broad strokes of the "canon" timeline for him.

He was sixteen when he left the vault to retrieve the water chip. Until then, he was a pretty rank-and-file repair technician. I don't know the EXACT date he's going to get back on this file, but I think he's just shy of seventeen (I'm going with December 2161-May 2162 for the sake of his actual canon tho)

He's definitely a stealth over direct combat kinda guy. Brains over brawn, but he's got brawn if he needs it. He's a decent shot but he's pretty nearsighted, and with his luck he might end up hitting a friend, so he usually sticks to his spear.

I'm not sure yet exactly WHEN his egg cracked out in the wasteland. It was definitely before he delivered the water chip to vault 13, so he did field some questions back at the vault that he intended to answer but then...the whole super mutants thing and ultimately getting exiled. He named himself Lazarus because he's a little nerd and he felt like coming to terms with his gender was a sort of rebirth.

I think between his exile and reuniting with other vault dwellers to found Arroyo, he was working as a handyman in Junktown to get by. Also idgaf what the memoirs say, Dogmeat lived.

Knight-Corporal Milo Dovely (he/him)

I just finished the demo for Small Fires (@smallfires-if) and I'm already attached to the character I was playing as, so I'll probably play Milo again when future chapters drop.

Thus far he leans towards empathetic, rebellious, and devout. We'll see how that goes with the rest of the story. Bonus shitpost:

Inquisitor Week, Day 7: Life Post-Tresspasser

Okay so I skipped a day but I REALLY wanted to render this. As of typing this, it's still Inquisitor Week, though it's going up the day after lmao.

After Tresspasser, Hissera moves to Antiva with Josephine. She helps Fiona manage the College of Enchanters for Antiva City, and she does some research and teaching there, especially as Thedas' expert on that big ol' hole in the sky. She focuses on finding ways to more safely travel through the Fade and interact with spirits.

She gets more piercings too. She got her septum piercing on her own, and she and Josephine got matching labret piercings together. (That concept art of Josephine with her lip ring was 100% the inspiration for that.)

Her tattoo was part of an experiment she conducted about a year after moving to Antiva, to see if tattoos could be used as a sort of portable magic circle.

And of course, her son! He's 4-5 as of Veilguard. His name is Mateo, and he gets along well with both Hissera's and Josephine's side of the family. He's a mage, just like his Tama. (Hissera wouldn't call herself a Tamassran, but with two moms she and Josephine just agreed that Hissera is Tama and Josephine is Mama). I'm not entirely sure where he is during Veilguard, but I like to think Josie and Hissera are keeping him safe in Skyhold.

Hissera was young when she became the Inquisitor, and she's only JUST turning 30 during Veilguard. She's got a whole life ahead of her after Tresspasser, and the Inquisition dissolving was a huge burden lifted off her shoulders, all things considered.
