I’d like to think that Ron is trans.
It could explain why he’s only 5′4″, as well as why he wore so many pants. It could also explain why he hasn’t gone the obvious route and worn skirts to get around Scam’s curse.
I know that Willy seems to be all sorts of terrible, but he would probably be too glad to have a son to “carry on the family name” or whatever old-fashioned nonsense to stop Ron. Not that he wouldn’t hold it over his head still but
Why hasn’t Ron ever caught a fish? Because Willy subscribes to gender stereotypes and didn’t take him until after he transitioned, and fishing does require some experience, from baiting to casting to reeling and whatnot.
Ron’s social skills aren’t totally developed because Willy didn’t take him places after transition because his friends were probably all terrible people and Willy didn’t want to have to explain himself to them or whatever.
Anyway, now that I’ve gotten all of that out of the way, here’s why I think that Ron did ballet, and was actually good at it:
1. Super muscular legs, they said it was because he was wearing so many pairs of pants but that’s a stupid reason
2. You know what being sneaky and silent requires? Graceful movement. Also stronk legs because you have to control them so minutely
3. If Willy was a successful salesman they probably had some money, and I could see Ron’s mom putting him in a suitably “feminine” activity
4. You gotta be f l e x i b l e to do ballet, like holy crap. Could explain Ron’s ability to hide in his pants or remain unnoticed behind Henry (and his failed attempt to do a backbend and hide behind his own legs, but that only failed because ~s h i n y~)
5. I don’t think girls do as many lifts as boys in ballet, so possibly reason for disproportion in Ron’s upper and lower body strength
6. How else could Ron have possibly used Terry, Jr. like Yoshi. Please explain it
7. I don’t actually know that much ballet but what I do know is that it’s hard as hell and you constantly have to push through pain, which Ron probably knows a lot about, unfortunately
If you have any more evidence that Ron is a ballet god or any trans headcanons please share. I desperately crave this.
