Dave Thompson, airing Sunday mornings at 8am beginning September 6th at overcoffee.tv and on public broadcast channels. In this show I will be conversing with my guests about their faith stories. I absolutely admire Bill Nye for his sincerity and willingness to contemplate our combined human notion of virtue, society and progress from a clear and unadulterated foundation of science. To those of us who come from communities of faith, his message is challenging; it is painful, it is scary, and it is necessary. More importantly for those of us in the faith community, we must begin to consider how God in fact may have used this system to fashion us and for what purpose. Even further, and perhaps more distressing, we must reasonably consider the possibility that we are the first and only intelligent life thus far in this universe. As a reasonable man, I feel it is my obligation to consider that reality, though I feel it is far more probable that there is other life, and more intelligent life, and that this lifeform we call God is not magic, like we first thought, but older, highly intelligent, and supremely able to manipulate the laws of this universe beyond our Neanderthal-like sciences.

But were people are valued because of the proportion of their generosity, the love of their mate, the suffering people they embrace, and the human progress to which they contribute.

It's reassuring to me that Jesus never said love the sinner, hate the sin. In fact, he put NO (all-caps) qualifications on loving your neighbor. Good thing; I'm a weird neighbor.
