FOR SALE, ON SALE, NOT FOR SALE

A series of three free publications that document the available wares of the Edition Art Fair’s participating publishers and vendors. The first contains the seller’s choice of a work that they wish to highlight, the second consists of images of works that they have been discounted, and the final contains pictures of works that they refuse to sell, for various reasons (sold out, held back, etc.). In addition to serving as a form of catalogue to the fair, the project addresses notions of value and fetishism among both collectors and sellers.

A booklet published on the occasion of a solo exhibition showing of the video (and bookwork) Pop Quiz, a work which collects every question from every lyric in my music collection. This slim volume features a foreword by Director Emily Falvey, a text by curator Lucy MacDonald and an interview conducted by poet Geordie Miller (whose questions also come from pop lyrics).

Thirteen Serious Considerations borrows it’s name and format from a little known mail-art project by Dick Higgins, published in 1978.

The hand-stamped cards are excerpts from a video called Pop Quiz, which collects every question from the lyrics in my personal music library. A recent iteration contains over two thousand questions and is over four hours long. A previous sampling was published as a bookwork by Paul+Wendy Projects in 2010.

I was asked to take over the Owens Art Gallery Instagram account (@owensartgallery) from the first of the month until the tenth, in the lead up to my exhibition there. I am presenting a work called On This Day, which turns their Instagram into a calendar of sorts, using scenes from old films to indicate the correct day of the month.

A feature length remake of the George Romero original (which debuted fifty years ago this month), in which characters from other films and television shows watch Night of the Living Dead on TV, at the cinema and at drive-ins.

Vintage bakelite phones from the 40's and 50's have been retrofitted to play audio from an iPhone which contains a feature film-length collection of telephone conversations where the subjects are being wiretapped or listened in on, or believe they are. The listener becomes implicated in their surveillance, overhearing the stunted cadence and reticence of the cautious and paranoid characters (“I...can’t speak...right now...”).
