Adding a ribbon clip to a friendship bracelet.

I love friendship bracelets, but sometimes a knot is not the most convenient way of closing them as I like changing what I wear a lot, besides, showering with them on makes the colours fade and the fibers split.

Here I present an alternative. You’ll need a friendship bracelet (obviously), ribbon clips, jump rings, chains, a charms, glue, scissors and pliers, plus anything else to decorate them if you want.

Ribbon clips have teeth that will secure the bracelet, but I’m going to glue it anyway to be safe.

First, cut off the excess, usually friendship bracelets don’t fray, but be careful.

To avoid dumping an excessive amount of glue on the first pump I like to put some paper or card under what I’m gluing.

Once you’ve done close the clip over the end immediately with the help of some pliers.

Repeat on the other end.

Time to put the chain, first jump ring, then length of chain and jump ring again.

Do the same on the other end, only you should add a lobster clasp and a charm on the last jump ring. The charm is not only a pretty detail, it’ll help weigh down the closure part so it’s not showing on the outside of your wrist.

And you’re done!

You can decorate it if you want. I do. I always do.
