Davey never met his father, and as much as he’d scoff and say he doesn’t care about ‘his old man’ one bit, it did mess with him. Even more so when his dragon abilities appeared, and his mother sobbed and said she’d hoped he wouldn’t inherit his father’s traits. 

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves - we must start at the beginning. Davey was born to Sarah Turner, a kind-hearted and gullible hotel maid. She met Davey’s father while she was working (a maid in Manhattan moment, minus the happy ending) and got pregnant. He left town halfway through her pregnancy, and hasn’t been seen since. 

Davey was a friendly boy, but became an avid rule breaker early in his life. His teachers would sigh and send him to the office, or the nurse, or home when they couldn’t take it anymore. He made friends with older boys, rougher crowds, and finally - a local gang of miscreants. Davey started coming home late, drunk and wreaking havoc in his home. Sarah tried her best to scold the boy, but as much as he loved his mother, he loved the freedom of his new life too much. 

Well - freedom until you’re caught. Davey was arrested when he was sixteen for drinking and looting, and while in the jail cell awaiting his mom, his power was revealed. He was sitting on the bench, willing himself to disappear into the wall, when the cops grew confused - where had the kid gone? He had blended into the wall, and they didn’t see his fingers reach through the bars to grab the key. 

Davey was terrified of his newfound power, but also curious. He confronted his mom, who admitted that his father had some ‘interesting’ abilities as well. Once Davey knew about his powers, he set off to master them - or at least put them to use buying liquor and sneaking into clubs. 

Manchester couldn’t contain Davey after long. He gave his mother a long hug (and promised to call at least three times a week, which he hasn’t broken once) and took off for London, eager to find out more about his abilities. 

Shenanigans ensued in London, where Davey took full advantage of his abilities and was an anti-hero of the London Underground scene. He hung out mainly with the homeless punk kids, or took advantage of the anti-establishment rich kids who traded classy cocktails for cheap beer in attempts to look cool. 

He moved to Paris with some friends, which is when he met Quinn, a fellow dragon who had been living with their boyfriend. Davey completely latched on to Quinn, since he had never met a fellow dragon. They became best friends quickly, and Davey’s loyalty to Quinn was unwavering. He wanted them out of their tumultuous relationship, promising to protect them. When Quinn finally moved back to London, Davey followed, and when they got their letter to Acadia, he was determined to attend too. 

Since arriving, he has been assigned to protect Savana. It’s been an interesting journey so far - Davey is both exasperated by and filled with admiration for her, and they bicker constantly. They both might be a bit too headstrong to be paired together, but the universe works in mysterious ways!

Cleo’s time at Acadia, while short, had certainly been amusing. The tension in the air was certainly palpable and the werewolf couldn’t help but wonder when it was going to pop. Not that she’d be staying here long anyway. Or at least, that’s what they thought. It had become a routine at this point for her to partake in a late-night cigarette, so that’s where they stood when she noticed an individual standing nearby.

“Can I help you?” Cleo asked, putting the lit cigarette between their lips before taking a drag. As the smoke danced into the air, she allowed the instrument to dangle between their fingers. “Or are you just gonna stand there and stare.”

Davey had finished the last of his beer, winked at Imogen, and then taken the first steps towards approaching the group he’d admired from across the bar. He felt confident for the first time in weeks (Savana had admittedly knocked him down a few pegs), and the bar lights seemed to twinkle overhead like the stars, which for whatever reason seemed like a good vibe. And so Davey approached the nearest member of the trio, a dark haired girl with a cigarette hanging from her lips. “Well, when the view is so nice,” Davey said, flashing her a grin. “You need some company? No need for a pretty girl to smoke alone.”

“So was I right… or was I right?” Imogen laughed, turning to look at Davey before looking out at the rest of the crowd. It was certainly a busy night at the establishment, familiar faces showing themselves everywhere that they turned. A night of fun was certainly needed and was long overdue. She was glad to see him enjoying himself, she wouldn’t deny that they were too. As bottoms up was called out, the magician downed half of the beer in her hand before placing the bottle down and turning back to their conversation. “About someone catching my eye… boy do I have a story for you later.” They chuckled, shaking their head. Imogen had tried to shake Rosalie’s face out of her mind, but they really couldn’t. Imogen rolled her eyes at the mention of Davey potentially trying to seduce three people. “All of them? You sure dude?” Taking another sip, she almost spit the alcohol everywhere when they realized who he was pointing to. “Dude, do you know who the hell that is?!” Imogen spoke after a coughing fit. “They’re a band. I was deadass listening to their album before we left… the one on the right, that’s Myles Young, the guitarist. Dude is insane. Zara Morales is in the middle, wouldn’t be surprised if she becomes the next rock vocalist of our generation. The one on the left… Cleo Serafini, their drummer. Has a history of an angry streak.. but they can play.” Looking back to him after their moment of geeking out, Imogen composed themselves before continuing. “Look, I’d love to see you embarrass yourself trying to go after one of them.”

Davey sighed dramatically. “Well, obviously I won’t be hooking up with all of them,” he stated like it was obvious. “I’m just going to go over there, shoot off a couple good lines, then divert my attention to whichever laughs the most,” Davey shrugged. “Gonna need maybe one more drink first though, if you’re so convinced I’m going to embarrass myself,” he mused, and flagged down the bartender once more. “It’s been a rough week and I’m out of practice,” he admitted as he got another beer. “So, in the meantime, I’m ready for that story now,” Davey said pointedly, looking at her with raised eyebrows. “Don’t tell me little Imogen has a crush? Deets, my friend, I’m all ears.”

“Man, it feels good to be at a bar!” Davey shouted at Imogen over the music. The dimly lit room was crowded with Lennox residents, Acadia students, and even some Professors, all eager to forget the previous week’s events with a little liquid magic. They’d flagged down the bartender and Davey ordered them drinks, and when it arrived, he passed a glass to Imogen with a smirk. “Bottoms up, kid!” Davey tipped his own drink down his throat and winced slightly as the alcohol burned, a satisfying pain that promised good times. “So,” Davey said, leaning closer to Imogen so they could hear him over the noise. “Anyone here catch your eye yet?” Davey’s eyes skimmed over the crowd, finally landing on a group huddled against the other end of the bar. “They’re pretty hot,” he said, pointing at the trio. “I call dibs.” Davey flashed Imogen a wink.

Lighten up? after the toll the event had on not just the staff but students, he says lighten up? Narrowing her eyes on him, choosing to disregard the comment. “I’m surprised. Did you happen to run?” he had mentioned earlier that he fought three of them. She fought one, and he survived three. Sounded untruthful. She wouldn’t wish death upon anyone, unless they clearly deserved hell, but he was a student.  Ignoring the pat on the bed, as if she was beckoned to move. Savana stayed where she stood. “Finishing the ring toss. That was the last game.” raising a brow at his next question. “Remember when I told you, how I would make use of my heel if you ever crossed me?” she smirked, implying that is exactly what she did to the strigoi.

Davey frowned at her. “No, I didn’t run,” he declared, annoyed at her implication. “I was with Imogen, she’s Quinn’s ward, when the attack happened. We were trying to hide when three came towards us.” Davey had felt proud he’d survived the attack and protected Imogen, but Savana’s condescension was slowly pulling him down. Well, he wasn’t about to take it easily.

“I’ve been in my fair share of fights,” Davey told her. “Before I came here, I mean. So while I’m sure you think I’m some weak student, just know that you’re wrong. I can hold my own, and I refuse to back down - though I guess you know that well enough by now.” And when she conveyed her memories of the fight, he grinned back. “Wish I could’ve seen that,” Davey sighed. “No wonder you always wear those crazy heels.” He glanced over at her from the corner of his eyes. “So... how’s Professor Garcia doing? Hope he didn’t get hurt too badly.”

“They sure as hell did.” Imogen nodded in agreement. Her brows furrowed in confusion as they listened to the question before eventually coming to a rather sound realization. “Well.. the Strigoi wanted to destroy the town of Lennox.. what if they’re not from the area? They couldn’t have seen them coming.” It was still strange to Imogen, not only having friends but protectors. Quinn was the best guardian that they could have possibly asked for and Davey had put himself in front of them without really even thinking.. Imogen would get used to it eventually. For now, they were just grateful. 

“I mean.. probably not?” Their laugh rang throughout the room at the thought of them making any sort of attempt. “I mean- a night out at The Mocking Bird sounds pretty okay to me. Me, you, Quinn, maybe Emma if she wants? Haven’t really talked to her at all yet. If you’re down.” Imogen would tell him about Rosalie when they were ready.. honestly she wouldn’t be surprised if he laughed at them. The one girl who hates your guts for no reason and you’ve talked like, maybe twice and just makes you so, so fucking confused. Good one, Imogen. “Classes can wait, are you kidding? Even some of my professors seem to feel the same way.”

Davey clapped his hands together. “A night out at the Mocking Bird - I am down.” He threw Imogen a smile, grabbing her hands in excitement. “Emma will totally be down, I’ll invite Civan, I don’t know if you’ve met him but you’d like him, he’s me but like... royal.” He grinned and sat back against the bed, imagining an exciting night out, where they wouldn’t have to worry about strigoi attacks. “Invite who you want too, Im, we will paint the town red.” Davey paused. “Wait, scratch that phrase, I’m pretty sure it means death or whatever. We’ll paint the town... gold?” He shrugged his shoulders and grinned at Imogen. “Sooner than later, Imogen. We deserve a night out, invite your friends too.” He pulled back and looked at her with a grin. “You have friends, right? Besides me and Quinn, of course.”

He never expected he’d have to deal with the soul-crushing anxiety of being the new kid at twenty-seven, but hey, who can predict what life is going to throw at them? It wasn’t just being new and not knowing anyone around - that he could deal with, he always made friends easily - it was the new environment, the new threat, not to mention all the new scents. Being in close proximity to so many different species was completely new to him;  honestly the mixture of everyone and his inability to pick each individual scent out was giving him a migraine. Calvin knew the importance of first impressions but pretty much nothing could take him out of the bad mood physical pain put him in. “What does a guy have to do to get some peace around here?” he whined spinning around, eyes on fire, to face whomever had dared walk near him.

Davey had been restless all day, itching to find something to occupy his mind, to keep him from reliving the events of the attack. Nothing was really working though, and he found himself wandering the Acadia grounds with no destination in mind. Just anything to keep from sitting still. Without realizing it, he’d started walking in the same pace as one of the new wolves. Davey jumped in surprise at the other’s angry tone, and immediately grew defensive. “Hey man, last time I checked, these hallways were fair game for everyone.” He raised his eyebrows at the other, a smile creeping onto his features. “You really should just give up trying to find peace and quiet at Acadia. I haven’t been here that long, but peace is at the bottom of this place’s priority list.”

Although he didn’t have to stay at the hospital like the others, Civan was left immobilized on the dominant side of his body and shooed away with a high dose of ibuprofen. “—Dude, I can’t get an ass being from Regina in this state,” He could hardly move, but the moroi sympathized with Davey as he begged to be freed from the sterile prison he called home for the past week. “Can you even make it that far?” The prince asked in a skeptical tone as he considered the chance of them actually making it out of the hospital, and to the car without being seen by a nurse. Civan knew this was the last thing the two needed to be doing, yet how could he say no to a friend in need of an escape? “You’re lucky I’ve watched Prison Break through and through twice,” 

“I can totally make it that far,” Davey grumbled. “Seriously, the doc came through earlier today and stretched my arms in all sorts of directions, and gave me the all clear!” Yeah, he had shouted out in pain at one point, but the doctor was twisting his shoulder - who moves their arms like that normally? “C’mon Civ, let’s stage a breakout,” he said with a wild grin, already climbing out of bed and pulling on his shoes. “They won’t get mad at a prince, right? I say...” Davey looked around the room, searching for props. “Let’s grab those bandages and say we’re delivering them to other students. Like we have a purpose. It’s all in the acting, my friend.” He pushed some bandages into Civan’s arm and motioned for the door. “Let’s go live out your Prison Break fantasy.”

​Emma walked over to Davey and patted him on the back. “So, we gotta talk.” The brunette started. “I’m gonna need an alibi from you. I mean… Not today but uh, this week.” She started. “It’s a top secret mission I’m going on and I can’t have Q or anyone asking where I’m going.” She narrowed her eyes at him and patted him again but a bit harder. “Whatta ya say?” Emma asked. “I’ll make it worth your while too.” She said after a minute and wiggled her brows. 

Davey pulled back to look at Emma incredulously. “Hold up, hold up, what do you have going on?” He glanced at her suspiciously. “Top secret mission? Pfft, fess up Hughes, if you’re going to make me lie to Quinn you’re going to have to do better than that.” But he paused, then looked back at her with a grin. “You Hughes have me in the palm of your hand, I swear. I’ve got your back, just tell me what you need.”

She learned to ignore the comments, whether people were for them or against them, it didn’t matter to her. The clear dislike was evident on Davey’s features, “why do you have a problem?” she had to ask. Savana wasn’t going to deal with the comments, so she’d shut it down before it even began. He looked too relaxed for being in a hospital. Probably hit his head.

Glancing down at the small bandages on her arm, minor cuts, nothing that won’t heal. Well, he was finally making sense. She didn’t need one, even as she faced the strigoi outside with Alice. She didn’t have a guardian, she held her own. “Are you now seeing the pictu—” her sentenced stopped midway when she heard his second sentence. Jaw tightening “Are you a child? you seem to be wanted to be treated like one.” she stated as she glared. The mention of the strigoi sent a chill down her spine, with her encounter with one, to finding out that one bit Reuben, needless to say, those….creatures, still scared her.  She was in a daze before she looked back at Davey. “and one I don’t plan on encountering again.”

“Oh come on, Professor, lighten up,” Davey chuckled. Perhaps the medication was making him a little more relaxed than usual, but Savana’s hard exterior seemed less like a challenge and more like... a human. With severe issues, but a human nonetheless. “I’m just playing around. I’m happy to see you alive, that’s all. I was hoping you’d be happy to see me alive, but I’m not going to hold my breath.” He sighed and leaned back against the bed, motioning for her to sit (not that he was expecting much). “So where were you when the strigoi attacked?” he asked curiously, wondering how she defended herself. “Did you glare at them and they backed down? I wouldn’t blame them.”

Finley was relieved when the male joined in without questioning his species, he grinned as the other focused on the balls on the table. Finley hung from his pool cue as he waited for the other to take a shot, simply nodding at the question the other posed. Once the other took a shot and missed, Finley couldn’t help but chuckle, moving into place to take his second shot. He aimed and sunk another ball, moving onto another ball that he unfortunately missed by a country mile. “Ugh..” He muttered to himself as he moved out of the way for the other. “So, you’re old around here, then?” He turned the others words onto him.

Davey scoffed, lining up his shot. “I’ve only been here a few weeks, actually,” he said, leaning down and scrunching his face to focus. This shot was cleaner than his first, and the ball (thankfully) went in the pocket. He stood with a grin. “I’m Davey Turner,” he said, putting his hand out in greeting. “I’m a dragon,” Davey said proudly. “How about you? We have about a thousand species here, so don’t make me guess.”

There were very people in Imogen’s life that had the same outlook on life as they did. Or at least tried to. Perhaps that was why she considered herself lucky to have met Davey — he brought them out of their shell and allowed her to show who they truly were. “Please, if there a hot girl around you’ve got competition.” Imogen winked. They tried to talk to girls. Emphasis on tried. The brunette only really had eyes for one, a pretty siren who might honestly hate them. “But seriously though… I’m glad I was with you when those fuckers showed up. And I’m glad you’re okay.”

Imogen chuckled at their friend’s awknowlagement of the werewolves. She too was surprised by their presence and it had felt like a shock to the system for them to see more new faces walking around. “I’m okay man.. getting through, you know? As for the wolves - yeah. It’s crazy, isn’t it? They came right when we needed them. The headmistress is letting them stay as a thank you.”

Davey shouldn’t have been surprised there were werewolves - this school seemed to attract the wildest things he could’ve imagined. What was next - ogres, centaurs, disney princesses? “Well, they picked a good time to make themselves known,” he frowned. “How come they didn’t lose their powers?” He felt frustrated at his loss of powers at such a crucial moment - if he’d had them, he and Imogen could’ve flown above the field, pick up Quinn and Emma and Savana, and land somewhere in Hawaii.

“Well, now that we’re all okay and werewolves are joining the team, we really need a night to let loose,” he said with a grin. “What do you think, Imogen? Can you convince the Headmistress to turn the dining hall into a club?” Davey raised his eyebrows, imagining it. “We can find some girls to flirt with, get a little drunk... That sounds nice, don’t you think? I’m not in any hurry to get back to classes, are you?”

Finley was trying to relax. He’d felt on edge from the moment his alpha had suggested they help the supernatural school that they had lived near for quite some time without any interaction. He grew even more anxious when it was suggested he attend said school. And then suddenly he was a student here and being encouraged to take on a ward. So now he needed to relax a bit, have a bit of fun. He could only assume others would feel the same after the attack and the loss of all those students so what better way than to use the old pool table he’d located in what he assumed to be a common room. Fin could care less if he wasn’t supposed to be there, he was there to play. He broke first, shooting a ball straight into one of the holes before erupting. “And that makes me solids. So, beat that!”

Davey had finally recovered enough to leave the medical ward, and free to wander the halls of Acadia once again. He felt antsy from hours spent asleep or stuck stationary in bed, and he was itching to run, or climb, or just have a damn drink. And so he had found an old flask and filled it with cheap whiskey, and was making his way through the school when he heard the familiar sound of pool balls clattering on the table. 

He poked his head in the room and raised his eyebrows. “Fine, I’ll take stripes,” Davey grinned, picking up a pool stick, ignoring the soreness still lingering in his shoulder. “So,” he said as he bent over the pool table, focused on the cue ball. “You’re new around here, then?” Davey took his aim and shot, but the ball missed the pocket by a sliver. “Dammit - you’re up, new kid.”

Imogen knew Davey would find a sense of comfort in the small prank, so of course they couldn’t help but engage. Regardless, she couldn’t even deny that the hair actually looked good on him. Although it had ended just as quickly as it began, Imogen couldn’t help but panic when they noticed that Davey’s hair was still blonde. She thought she had switched it back.. damn it. Had the spell not worked? There was a visible look of relief on their face as Davey admitted that he had actually dyed his hair. “Jesus, Turner. You scared me.” Imogen grinned, happy to see him looking much better. “Thought I fucked up the magic or something. Regardless.. you trying to break some hearts with me?”

The brunette couldn’t help but pause for a moment, the night coming back in flashes. Her dad’s decision to return to Ireland had been a difficult one for them and she was certainly still processing it, but having friends like him made it all a hell of a lot easier. “Davey..” Imogen eventually spoke again. “This is about to sound sappy as hell but… thank you. For what you did for me out there. You saved my life.”

Davey grinned at Imogen, and shook his head. “Don’t mention it, kid, I’d do it a thousand times over.” He felt a kinship to her, partly because she was Quinn’s ward and he’d do anything for his best friend, but also because he and Imogen had the same frenetic energy, same sarcastic sense of humor. He enjoyed being around Imogen, and Davey was grateful he’d been there to protect her. “You’re welcome,” he said softly, then lightly tapped her shoulder in a playful manner. “And seriously - don’t mention it. Unless, like, a really hot girl is around. Then you better be telling the damn world that I saved you.”

He nodded towards the chair for her to sit next to him. “So how are you holding up?” Davey asked. And then a thought flashed through his mind and he sat up straighter. “Wait, hold up - I missed all the stuff about wolves! No one has told me anything. We have werewolves here now?”

Savana didn’t need a trip to the hospital, her injuries were minor, just a few cuts and bruises. Luckily not a concussion or anything worse. Reuben ended up being the one that was severely injured. So she was here because he was. Plus, the staff could direct her in supplies she could bring home to take care of the wound herself. She had spent most of her nights here along with Reuben. After that incident, she wasn’t leaving his side. Savana stayed true to that.

Passing a room as she went to grab a cup of coffee that wasn’t far from Reuben’s room. Making sure that her hearing was sharp to pick up on anything. It wasn’t until she heard a voice speak, she raised a brow, turning around. David Turner. Seeing that he was in a hospital bed, she can’t say she wasn’t shocked. But there he was. “Mr. Turner.” So he had survived. It was good to know that he hadn’t been killed at the fair. They had lost many students, and Savana really didn’t have the time to argue their usual banter. “I didn’t know you were here. Nor did I ask.” she paused. “I’m here because Professor Garcia is.”

Davey rolled his eyes with a smile. “Glad to know nothing has changed,” he mumbled at her words. Davey had been wondering if Savana would visit, be even remotely interested in his wellbeing. But of course she was here to see Garcia. His brush with death had made him a little more relaxed, however, and he looked at Savana with a lazy smile. 

“Well, it seems you didn’t get hurt too badly,” he remarked. “Maybe you’re right - you probably don’t need a guardian.” Davey motioned to his wounded shoulder. “Maybe you need to be my guardian,” he smirked. “Got this fighting three strigoi at once,” Davey continued, his subtle brag not so subtle. “Nasty little shits, aren’t they?”

Davey had drifted in and out of consciousness, partly due to meds and partly because he was so freaking bored. And according to the exasperated medic, Imogen had come by to visit and tried to dye his hair blond using magic. It hadn’t been very effective, but when Davey had woken up, he really exactly minded it. “Doesn’t it bring out my eyes?” he asked his nurse, who had somehow gotten happily roped into his shenanigans and nodded enthusiastically. She’d agreed to officially dye it blond, the good old-fashioned box dye way. 

“Hey, Imogen, what do you think?” Davey asked with a grin as they walked through the door. “And don’t freak out, this isn’t your whack job of a spell. I’m officially a blond, ready to have more fun. At least, when they let me out of here.” Davey shrugged and laid back against the bed. “Apparently the strigoi really did a number on my shoulder, and dragons kind of need their shoulders. You know, wings and all.”

“Quinn!” Davey was shouting in joy the second his friend stepped foot over the hospital room threshold. “Dammit Quinn, we are never leaving each other’s side again, shit always seems to happen when we do.” He pulled them close into an awkward hug, not caring one bit about his wounds (the medicine here was really great, actually, he didn’t feel a thing). He pulled back with a grin, motioning for them to sit on the bed with him. 

“So,” Davey continued, sighing with contentment now that his best friend was by his side. “When I get out of this dumb place, I’m teaching you to fight. Like the real stuff, we’re going to have you ready to punch every strigoi that comes your way when I’m done.”
