I always get nervous when I have to explain FGO’s type advantage chart lol. It’s just easier to say, memorize one triangle at a time.

The Knight Trio can be easily memorized by remembering that, in FSN, Saber beat Lancer, Lancer trashed Archer, and Archer really pisses off Saber.

The second Trio is a little tricker- Casters’ prepare a location for defense making it harder for Assassins to infiltrate, Assassins can jump the Rider while they’re off their mount, and Riders can close the distance on a Caster before they can set up their defenses? Someone smarter than me can get this.

Ruler > Mooncancer > Avenger > Ruler is one I don’t have a mnemonic for at all, and Alterego > Foreigner > Pretender > Alterego is also an extra classes thing and I don’t know that one.

All that matters in the end is that Berserker beats everyone (except Foreigner).

Also the type chart fails to mention that Foreigners are strong vs other Foreigners, but that’s a topic for a different day.

If I may, Ruler > Moon Cancer > Avenger> Ruler can be thought of as:

Ruler > Moon Cancer: Rulers Regulate Grail Wars, and thus prevent a Moon Cancer from manipulating it to their advantage. Plus the first Moon Cancer, BB, was an anomaly that shouldn’t exist in a Grail War. Something Rulers are especially equipped to deal with.

Avenger > Ruler: Avengers Corrupt Grails, whom Rulers arbitrate on behalf of.

Moon Cancer > Avenger: Moon Cancers Manipulate Grails, even a corrupted one.

Not sure about the Foreigner > Pretender > Alter Ego > Foreigner interaction, except for Alter Ego > Foreigner (possibly).
