Both Arthur Seaton and the fish man (Aka the brain man in our comic) represent a way of life that has long gone. In the novel Saturday Night, Sunday Morning the pub is the very center of the community, its where the workers go to unwind and a place where literally everyone knows your name. By today's standards, these places have been replaced with nightclubs and chain coffee stores.

Joining Arthur Seaton in issue 12 of the Dawn of the unread series is Colin Smith, created by Allan Sillitoe in The loneliness of the long distance runner. Together Colin and Arthur embark on a journey on behalf of their literary creator to help save the libraries of Nottingham.
