I think its time to get news on Wizards we are desperate
This is what the Homestuck fandom did during hiatuses.
Inspired by this post.

there’s 3below, which is about aliens.
there’s 5below, a store that sells goods for five dollars or less.
and the forbidden 4below about aliens at a dollar store.
A while ago I saw someone say Jlaire is a clever ship name and while it’s a good one as far as ship names go and I definitely have nothing against it I feel the need to point out that the alternative is Clim and anything sounds clever compared to that.
I very much enjoy your writing style! May I hear your thoughts on 3Below now that you've finished it?
Thank you! That means a lot! I’m a bit uncomfortable about my own style, so I’m glad it resonates with other people.
Man, I was going to make a post about 3Below after I finished watching it, but I was working that weekend, and then everything went to pot, and then it was Christmas… anyway. You can definitely hear my thoughts, but be warned, I have many!
I suppose I should start by admitting that I was judging it primarily on its merit as a follow-up to Trollhunters. I stand by my earlier conclusion that the three shows are different parts of the same story. And I’m happy to say I think 3Below did an excellent job both of following up Trollhunters and of standing well on its own. I wouldn’t recommend that someone watch it without also watching Trollhunters, but it was definitely its own thing that I enjoyed separately from Trollhunters, though, on the topic of Trollhunters, I really enjoyed seeing another side of Arcadia that isn’t directly involved in Trollhunting affairs. You can see details from Trollhunters (and also possibly Wizards) in the background, and I just love that. Not only does it serve to tie the three series together, it makes for fun easter eggs!
So 3Below had more jokes in it than Trollhunters, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. As an alien show it’s interacting with more pop culture than Trollhunters was and jokes are a good way to efficiently communicate which pop culture stereotypes we’re going with. And the jokes didn’t intrude on the emotional moments! Look, if you didn’t feel when Aja accepted the title of Queen-in-Waiting even though she didn’t want it because the in-Waiting bit meant her parents were still alive then you are clearly a robot.
Before I began to suspect that all the Tales of Arcadia shows were tied together into a single narrative, I actually didn’t intend to watch 3Below. Aliens generally aren’t my thing. But I’m glad I did! The characters were very well-written and easy to relate to, although I must admit they relied on gimmicks a bit. For example, Vex and his disproportionate violence response or Krel’s tech/math wizardry. It was well done, though. The characters relied on the stereotypes but weren’t just the stereotypes.
I had been going to make a post on racism in Trollhunters before it came out but I’m glad I waited on that one because obviously 3Below digs into that a bit more and I’ve got more to work with. It’s also less fantasy racism and more real life racism. It was really well handled. A lot of stories that include real life racism tend to either skim over it or focus on it to the exclusion of all else, both of which make the stories exceptionally unpleasant to consume. 3Below did not do that, instead taking time to deal with the issue in a reasonably plot-relevant way while everyone remained in character. (I especially appreciated that.)
This is the end of my specific thoughts, I suppose. I’m gonna cosplay Aja sometime. Overall, I really liked it. I’ll definitely be incorporating stuff from it into future posts about themes in ToA! And I can’t wait for Season 2.
Words cannot express how much I absolutely love Stuart. Look at these glorious forgeries. I’m in tears
My favorite part is that they appear to be mounted on somebody's Spanish homework.
Shannon Longhannon got stuck in a car with Eli while he Tokyo drifted, was punched by Vex, and had her science experiment destroyed repeatedly REPEATEDLY in Episode Six. Shannon, my sweet child, what did you do to deserve this?
Besides embezzlement.
Please accept these uncomfortable parallels between Jim Lake and Angor Rot:
1. They are both loyal to a fault; while Angor Rot has no evident affection for Morgana it takes a surprisingly strong push for him to finally turn against her in the finale.
2. They both made a deal with a powerful sorcerer, trading something in exchange for the strength to fight Gunmar without fully understanding the consequences. To Merlin’s credit (and you’re not going to see those words on my blog very often so cherish them while they’re here), he explained the stakes to Jim better than Morgana did to Angor. Not well enough, though. Both Merlin and Morgana view their respective champions as tools.
Do I think Angor Rot has been set up as either a literary foil or precedent for Jim? Yes. Yes I do. Does this make me afraid? Yes. Yes it does.
NotEnrique is a highly underrated character
Merry Christmas to my Trollhunters Secret Santa gift to @dayclipse !! They asked for NotEnrique doing something funny. I hope you like this Snowy!! And thanks to @trollhunterssecretsanta for putting this together! :)
Definitely legit, and whatever he is doing is obviously totally legal.
This is awesome! I laughed out loud when I saw it! Thank you!
@nathvods I may have slightly misinterpreted your request for "Toby and Aaarrrgghh decorating a Christmas tree (or other characters if you feel up to it)". You know those netted Christmas lights they make for bushes?
December was wild so it didn't come out quite as intricate as I had hoped, but I'm still reasonably happy with it. I hope you like it, and thanks to @trollhunterssecretsanta for organising the event!
why do y'all forget about the gravity hex in toby’s warhammer
if toby masters it, he could send people flying and into space
Are you implying that Toby can use his warhammer to punt Aja and Krel back home?
Shout-out to Jim and Aja for being the first characters to be stuck in a sci-fi time loop whose friends just believed them instead of making them prove it by learning an entire language or someshit.
Janeth’s dumbass ‘one A+ policy’ is terrible teaching
PREACH
When I saw that I thought, "That seems like a terrible idea but I was homeschooled and understand exactly zero of the things that go on at Arcadia Oaks High so maybe it's just me?"
I am glad it was not just me.
but the true question is:
WILL JIM EVER LEARN TO ZIP HIS GODAMN BAG SHUT?
I would like to open by pointing out that based on usage "kleb" appears to be the Akiridion equivalent of "shit" or "damn".
Ha ha ha ha remember when we were all theorizing Jim had troll blood and he was half troll ha h a ha HA HA A HA A
