He knew damn well that for him, she would ruin herself a million little times. More often than not, those instances they'd flirted with the line between friends and something more had been on purpose. Brynn had chosen to brush up against Will at a mutual friend's pool party in nothing but her barely there bikini. At one point, she'd even gone so far as to accidentally send him a dirty picture on one of those little apps that deleted the evidence in twenty-four hours. Even after all of that, though, even she knew engaging in an actual affair wouldn't be anywhere near as simple. No, especially not when she was climbing the ladder and he was already right smack in the middle of the public eye.
"Honestly, I don't know what I want anymore." Accepting her drink with a soft sigh, Brynn took a small sip. Unfortunately, not even hearing how mutual their desire for one another was helped to make her feel better or the decision at hand any easier. "I mean, I know that I want more than anything to wake up in your bed, unable to walk, or even talk, for that matter. At the same time, though, I'm don't think I'm ready to break up with Connor just like that, either. Yeah, he can be a complete idiot and a total dick sometimes, but most of the time he's actually a pretty decent guy."
Ugh, why couldn't she be allowed to have her cake and eat it, too?
"This would be so much easier if I was a man. It'd be cool for me to play the field. It'd make me a boss or whatever, but no. I'm just a bitch, not a baller. Like, honestly. What the fuck?" Okay, now she was just sounding off, letting out all of the pent up resentment that'd been held in for so long while sliding off the counter and pacing the kitchen floor. Maybe it didn't make a whole lot of sense, if any at all, but oh well.
"Actually, if it wasn't for the damn paparazzi, I'd say to hell with the whole thing. Who gives a shit what other people think? All that matters is what you and I want. What goes on behind closed doors is our business and no one else's. Surely, between the two of us, we could figure out a way to keep the outside world from getting in, but…"
So much for a night of being distracted from the harsh realities of real life.
