Yeah, I could just take the visual of an artist painting something horrific....
Orrrrrr
I could also give you the visual of that artist collapsing into their equipment, leaving their collapsed form bathed in their medium and shining warm golden light, not only the artist but the art the so adore
Paint spilling and sticking into their hair, charcoal steaked across their clothes, splinters of wood in their clothes and skin, bits of canvas scattered across their floor, drying marker streaks on their hands, broken oil pastels pressing into their cheek
They are, at once, part of the very thing they revere, and too the god that creates it
I saw a short recently, where the creator of Epic the musical posted about the song Suffering, where he explained that the biggest warning that this isn't Penelope is the lack of viola, that being her main instrument
I used to play the viola, and now all I can think of is a version of the song where the vocals aren't there, but, instead, Ody's speech pattern is replaced with guitar, but followed closely with Viola
It's hard to explain, but I keep imagining the viola following the broad strokes of his pattern of talking, then emphasizing certain "words", only to get looser when the siren talks, maybe even pausing when the siren says something wrong or getting stronger when Ody lies to trick the siren
Maybe it gets louder and faster as Ody talks about what happened and tricks the siren, while it stops entirely when Scylla comes up
In my head, the viola is the compliment to Ody, his wife guiding him through the music, a reminder how she's there with him (in a way) while holding a silent distaste for the thing pretending to be her
It puts an emphasis on Odys humanity, on the thing he's fighting for, all right before he openly claims what he has become-
A Man Made Monster
I feel like one of two things is about to happen
I listen to the entirety of tmagp Status? Unlikely Why? I need to sit down and finish tmp first Still has a fair chance because I am desperate to listen to it
I make a post about Epic the Musical in which I talk about things I like in the music, things the creator had talked about, things in certain animatics I like, etc Status? More likely Why? The hyperfixation gremlin go brrrrrrr May not happen because I get so excited to ramble then I make no sense
[guy who has handled two conversations well in a row] I think I might be the most emotionally stable person on the planet of earth
Skeleton Flower and Glass Sunflower
A redraw of an old Tim piece, because this song always hits me in the TMA feels
I loved painting this one. It was truly a delight to create and I hope that shows 💚
