[ID: An ask from Tumblr user insecure pumpkin that says, “… Just wondering if you could draw an alligator curled around a pumpkin protecting it from the others.”
Under the ask is a short comic by Tumblr user iguanamouth.
[First panel, full width] A pale green alligator is shown in a swamp. The sun is low in the sky, and there is a tree visible on the far side of a murky body of water. The alligator is saying, “What—”
[Second panel, full width] A second alligator, this one a blue-green, is curled around a pumpkin on the shore of the water next to some bushes. The blue-green gator is looking at the green gator from the first panel, whose head has just come into view in the right of the panel. “Is that?” the green alligator asks. Together with the first panel, the green gator is asking, “What is that?”
[Third panel, smaller square] The green gator is asking, “Did you steal that from the farm over by the e—”
The blue-green gator interrupts, saying, “NO! No I didn’t STEAL IT.” The blue-green gator has stood up defensively.
[Fourth panel, smaller square] The blue-green alligator’s mouth is open wide as it holds the pumpkin with one of its front feet and presses the other against its chest. “I found it,” the blue-green gator is saying. “And I’m going to HATCH IT.”
The other gator says, “What” from beyond the panel.
[Fifth panel, smaller square] The blue-green gator explains, “Lonnie told me last week that if anybody in their family sits on a kind of egg it could hatch into a cool monster.” A brown toad is shown sitting on a dull brown lilypad. The word “lonnie” is next to the toad, with a small arrow pointing to it.
[Sixth panel, smaller square] The blue-green gator goes on explaining, “And then I found this big egg and I’m like 20 toads put together and I thoug—”
The green gator interrupts with, “It’s not gonna work.”
[Seventh panel, full width] The blue-green gator is shown in the foreground, looking cross with the green gator in the background. Both have their mouths open as they argue.
“You don’t know that!” the blue-greet gator says.
“It’s not an egg!!” the green gator retorts.
“Well what is it then??” the blue-green gator challenges.
[Eighth, ninth, and tenth panels, smaller rectangles] The green gator looks perplexed. It glances to the side.
“You don’t know either!” the blue-green gator says.
“Shut up!” the green gator retorts, its mouth open wide.
[Eleventh panel, full width] The two gators are shown standing over the pumpkin. Their mouths are both open as they argue, and the green gator is gesturing with its front feet. “Youve SEEN eggs before, they’re not bumpy, or—” the green gator says.
“You dont know every egg!! Some eggs are weird!” the blue-green gator replies.
[Twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth panels, smaller rectangles] The gators continue arguing, their speech bubbles cut off.
“Just bec- you haven’t see-doesn’t mean th-”
“If I didn’t- think it- was an egg-”
A crack appears in the pumpkin, getting slightly wider with each panel.
[Fifteenth panel, full width] The green gator is slightly on top of the blue-green gator, and one of the green gator’s legs is in the blue-green gator’s mouth. Both gators are in the background, which is blurred. In the foreground, the front end of a possum has emerged from the pumpkin, which is exploding slightly where the possum is sticking out. A faint orange glow surrounds the possum.
[Sixteenth panel, full width] The possum is now blurred and has turned to look at the gators, who have not moved from where they were in the previous panel. Both have wide eyes.
[Final panel, full width] The gators are shown swimming in the water past some plants. The green gator is slighly behind and is submerged so that only its nose tip, eyes, and part of its back are visible. The blue-green gator’s head is visible as well as part of its back, upon which is the possum looking confused with white question marks floating around its head. The blue-green gator looks delighted as it says, “I told you! I TOLD YOU!!”
The green gator looks resigned as it says, “You better hope nobody else sees that thing or theyre gonna eat it”
