I don't know if you've noticed this, but reaction youtubers get so much shit for complimenting Maddie. They can't praise the girl without people bitching in the comments about how she "isn't that good" and accusing them of being biased towards her. It's so unfair! Four of them have come out and talked about it now. People aren't even allowed to compliment her! It is ridiculous imo. What's your view on it?
Yes, I’ve noticed that too! I don’t really watch reaction videos, but I watched some of DM dances and some of Maddie solos and when I looked into the comment section (big mistake), I saw all the hateful comments and that’s actually one of the reasons I try to stay away from it now. It doesn’t surprise me tho, like not at all. I mean, just look at all the blogs on here who bash everything Maddie does, no matter what. And tumblr is calm compared to other social media, but it’s already pretty bad on here, so like youtube etc is a dangerous place. It’s ridiculous, like people can enjoy her dancing, most people who watch such a performance aren’t even dancers and they won’t notice little flaws in a dancer’s technique, for them the personality, the performance quality, the charisma a dancer has is way more important and if they enjoy watching Maddie, that’s great. They don’t care if there’s someone better out there and it doesn’t matter anyway, dance is art and if people enjoy her dance, why attack them for it, like it’s pretty pathetic. People who go around and hate on something someone enjoys are the worst. Let them enjoy the dance and stop with the hate on Maddie. Let’s be real, they wouldn’t do it if it was any other dancer, even a dancer worse than Maddie, they wouldn’t say anything. It’s just because people can’t deal with the fact that there are lots of people who actually really enjoy Maddie’s dancing, I mean, she books dance related jobs all the time and there’s a reason for it. Also telling someone she isn’t the best blabla won’t make them like her less. They enjoy her dancing and comments like that won’t change it, so those people are just wasting their time being such vile human beings.
You took the words right out of my mouth, I agree a hundred percent! The thing is Maddie appeals to a lot of non-dancers because of her performance skills, amazing acting ability, musicality etc. Outside of the dance world, all of that is much much more valuable than technique. That is why she is so famous! People are like "Maddie is mediocre compared to other dancers" but no she isn't, her strengths just lay in different areas. She doesn't have the feet or the control or the technique, but the girl can make you feel all sorts of things through the movement of her body. Imo that's what dance is about, so yes, Maddie is one of the best out there in a lot of people's eyes. I think it’s just easier for *coughs* people to convince themselves Maddie fans think she has the best technique in the face of the planet so they can dismiss all of us as “delusional”. When in actuality, we realize Maddie’s technique, flexibility, control etc isn’t the best, but she has the qualities I listed above and that’s what we think makes her stand out. So because of that, they don’t like it when an unbiased source praises Maddie, because then they have to come face to face with the truth, that the girl has something special.
