Some of the latest drydock photos from KIDD’s Facebook page. She’s looking real good and is slated to go back into the water on November 11th, Veterans Day. The return to Baton Rouge still won’t happen until the river rises in the spring though.
Remember while the ship is away, the museum is seeing significantly less visitation but there is still work to do on the home front let alone the need to just keep the lights on. Donations go a long way in helping us make it to the springtime for Kidd’s return.
Pleased to be back with the guys from Armchair Commanders talking about one of my favorite submarine films that, in my opinion, doesn't get enough love.

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

Overdue life update- I'm in Louisiana . Have been for about a month, now.
Yes, I am well aware of the irony of a submarine historian working with a destroyer museum ship. I love her anyway.

The USS Becuna submarine sank 3,888 tons of shipping and earned four battle stars in World War II.
I had the privilege of being interviewed by Business Insider regarding Becuna and the stories we are trying to tell aboard:
